Hi Jay! You know I was thinking about this the other day while snuggling up to the new Grav Lab glass.
I've decided that optimal yield is dependant upon the growers goals and needs.
I give this example. A group of people set out to grow a crop of corn for the towns annual corn festival. The group grows a crop that gives them all the corn they need for all of their recipes and such and they even have enough left over to dry and give to the wild birds in the bird feeders.
Even though the corn may not have been grown to the speed, size , and efficiency of say a Nebraska commercial corn farmer the crop is still deemed a success because it filled the needs of the group growing the corn.
I'm taking a similar approach to cannabis cultivation. I prefer to smoke my herb after it has cured for about 60 days. I smoke about 1.5oz per 30 days. As long as I can maintain 3-4oz in my curing jars while I'm harvesting 3-4oz every 30 days thru SOG I can be assured that I will always be growing more than I can smoke and thus I can consider my garden an optimum producer whether it comes out to 1g per watt or not.
I also think that this type of subject is open to so many variables when accounting numbers. It's very easy to manipulate those numbers to suit individual needs especially for the seed banks
