OMM's Social Network Part 3

Oh my there is another that moved me early in life... Louis Armstrong
I can put BB King and Albert King on that list as well.

No kidding, I listened to these guys on a crystal radio at night when I was a kid. The early 50s.

Talk about strange trips...

Here we are with what many think is high tech. Cell phones wow, not much more than a walkie talkie like the kids once had, till I broke the string between the cans and upgraded. It just a radio folks nothing more. I was doing such things as a radio amateur long before even the internet. Guess I have always been a tech junkie though, but I will admit at times I just dont want to learn another new system. there was nothing wrong with the old. Somethings never change...

I still prefer live music to recorded any day, no technical substitute for real flesh and bone. At least not at this point in life...

Uhhh, wasn't there a grow goin on here?

OMM reminds me of an old joke of a man named Leroy who claimed to know everyone. Quite the joke

Are you sure we are not twins, SmokzAlot ? My last call sign was NH6MC. When hurricane Iniki came through it blew down my tower and all my antennas. By then I was into computers and the early Internet and gave all my radio stuff to the MARS station at the AFB here. The operator there was sooooo happy to get the new equipment. When I was in Greece I had an SV call sign. Folks used to fight to work me......not very many Amateur Radio stations there.
Was fun, A Russian would come on 30 minutes before me and make a list for me to work. As you can tell, once I never really liked to sit still. Have to now.
:high-five:

Sorry, the grow starts in a few weeks....just vegging right now.

May be we are long lost brothers OMM

I even got involved in FIDO, the amateur satellite network. We were slinging messages and computer communication around the world prior to the internet. We did packet as well, any way to send data. It was awesome fun doing things other folks couldn't yet. Along came the internet and the rest is history. Now the HAM's are struggling to keep bandwidth and dwindling numbers of operators. Kind of hard to compete with picking up a tablet and sending a video around the world with the flick of a finger. Technology can move mountains but it is not the answer to everything. One needs to touch the world with flesh and bone, talk with people to truly be alive. Growing puts life into perspective if you let it. Let's not forget Music, it is life's story board.

It's a hard time when the mind still wants to run, but the body can not. Had to stop writing them checks the body cant cash.

Good for you SmokzAlot! Packet Radio and Fido. Adventures through space. Did a moon bounce a couple of times, but nothing fancy. The WAS (Worked All States) was a joke once we had the net. Time to quit. I just looked and there are many Transceivers still being built and sold.
If we have a big war, that maybe the only way to communicate. Who knows?

Music is man at his best! (Ladies too!)

I used to enjoy building antennas, would visit the club house on home brew night and always took the prize. I learned to take written instructions to pass out to all interested. I have built beams of various types, satellite antennas, and dual band glass mounts. Last time they upgraded my sat dish for TV I caught myself looking at the dish they were tossing. Thinking surely I can put that to use. Then I realized when I was.... Those dishes would make a great UHF directional. I was almost going to convert it as a WiFi extender. No LNB required just a 1/4 wave focused would do the job. It is nothing more than a reflector. The HAMs are still vital today in emergencies. When all hell breaks loose they still provide comm for social services and the like. A lot of folks don't know how important they have been. Thank you Mr. Marconi... I think I got that right.

Who doesn't love to fool around with antennas? I made a few wire beams for the upper ranges. But my real love was 160 and 80 meter bands. All wire....for miles :thedoubletake: if I had it. The gain was incredible.

:thumb: :peacetwo: Who doesn't love to fool with plants too!!

I just came across this interesting thread elsewhere. Can't remember who's journal suggested it, but google The Main-lining Thread. I'm thinking I might try applying this to my defoliation and see what happens in my next grow.

I took a quick look...going to have to go back and read more. Sounds like it might work for you. If you find a better example let me know. You are always looking new and better ways of getting results. Thanks.:bravo:

Can't wait!!!! Hope all is well with you and Jo.

Hi there my Queen, I am honored by your visit!

Jo and I are doing fine. If fact taking her out for some Baby Back Ribs tomorrow. Yummy!:high-five:

She usually brings some home too!:cheesygrinsmiley:

I have a little blurb on it in my journal - a grower named "WildBill" suggested it there. It does look like a great strategy for training indoors, and makes a ton of sense to me!

OMM, hope you are well -- Happy Valentines to you and Jo!
