OMM's Social Network Part 3

What's up OMM and friends?! :surf:

I can relate to wanting to make things easier to reach... My back is killing me after this last grow reset. I hate cleaning pots and hydroton and yada yada. Wiped me out to the point of barely getting out of bed the last couple of days. Hence not being on here as much.

I think I might take a break after this one I just started. Growing even small scale can be a lot if work anyway, but these days the clean-up/reset flat kills me. My wife just said yesterday, in a very delicate loving way...(she knows how important it is to me)... "Don't you want to take a break from growing at some point?" Yes and no. I also love it and know I would miss it quickly. Plus there are seeds I've been dying to grow, ya know?! Maybe I'll start taking summers off again.

Man it sucks getting gimpy. I'm complaining about how hard it is to take care of a half-dozen or so plants. Sheesh!

I'll be following the scrog idea and eventual solution with interest OMM. :)

Hey OMM whens the best time to take the lower limbs and bud sites that aren't getting any light? Day 21 or day 45?

Hi Gittergreen. Usually day 45, however, if you see something at day 21, that you know will not do much, take it off then. More to go to the top. :thumb:

Note: I've been getting quite frisky with defoliation and I totally believe it helps with over all yield. My last grow was my best.

Drive thru Pop's. Hope the Holidays are going Great. Damn scrolled back to like Bird Day and no pic updates. Hope health is doing good for both ya'll. I did see talk about saving backs. Seems I'm getting pro about that lately. Passing thought. IF you have room and a way to do it, partion off the same footprint. Even that panda plastic from ceiling to floor. I'd imagine you got 8' ceilings. Then you could build up your plants acouple feet off the ground. That wood enough give ya extra space for heat, 'if that's a problem anymore', to dissapate upwards. You get the same light intensity from the height ajustment. I use 5 gallon pots as 'step stool's'. And thats the biggest back saver there is in my book. Bending over to pick up 5 gallon pots of wet soil tears me up anymore. I know it's a pain in the ass building it and shutting down a perfect sized flower room, but for the 'long run' it's a great option that will pay off on back troubles probley as well as the meds.
We'll that's just my two cents. I hope you and Jo are doing fine. One day I need to holler at ya in the fairly near future. Say High to your's and take care of you ass and Stay Down for Yours.

Hey Sprout!

There are no plants to see at the moment. Just trying to get my health back before I start again. Man, we do have to catch up before too long. It's been a while.

Jo and I are both feeling better. She sees the Doctor tomorrow. She is not feeling perfect, but much better.
I'm sucking up 3 different inhalers 2..3 times a day and it's helping.

I hear ya about the 5 gallon buckets to raise my SCROG. Might just be the easiest thing. I will probably hang some panda for refection.....thanks for the idea. Man, you always have a useful idea or two every time you come by. I still say you are the one that taught me everything I know about growing these girls of ours.
You still got that damn pump inside you? I hope not. Hey to miss J.

Hey Xlr8 old Buddy! Always like it when you stop by for a "Howdy".

Easy is our goal. I noticed you were a bit light in your journal and thought it was your back again. For once (well maybe more than once) I agree with your wife......take a break for a while.....I have been and am feeling better. X you could do a journal without growing a thing......the people will come...they know you're full of knowledge to share. I can't begin to tell you how much you've helped me over the years. I'm sure you have a bit of a stash to hold you over. Who knows it may help more than you think.
Can't believe I'm telling you not to grow!:peace:

i am so glad i have a few months off. Luckyly grew plenty. But to grow 365 days is to much .This is not a job.But it is the greatest hobby us old guys and gals could ever find.

I'm really sorry to hear that BID. :smokin2:

What makes it worse is that you once could do the same things so easily. You and I keep thinking we can do what we once did. I just do a bit, then rest for a while and then do another little bit. Drives one crazy. However, we do get it done somehow. Like the old saying...don't know what ya got till it's gone.
Even though we bitch, we still do it. Love these damn plants too much to stop.
:Namaste:

Hey OMM! Just stoping in to say hi! I hope you're feeling better by the day brother...and I'm sending some positive energy your way!

wht up OMM...on those number of days you cut the bottom...does the number of veg days come into play..if i veg one 4 weeks and one 8 weeks..do both bottom branches get cut...what if i can bring bottom branches to the top...even with the top cola...

High miwa. I hope your talking about defoliation at 21 days and 45 days. Defoliation actually is taking off the fan leaves that are covering bud sites, top or bottom. If you can bring the bottom limbs to the top, more power to you, Brother. :thumb:

Hey there OMM. Hope things are getting better with you and Jo. Also thanks for the info about the leaves and when to pluck. I will keep this in mind for future grows since I was told it is not good to do this with autos. I have seen you peeking in on my journal, hope to get some advice once you feel better.

Hello my beautiful Queen.

I think you should ask XLR8 or THsea about defoliating an auto, since I don't grow them. I don't know if it would hurt or help them.

Jo and I are hanging in. Jo is going to an optometrist in the morning. She has lost sight in one of her eyes during the mess she has been going through. That's all the poor thing needs, to lose an eye. :smokin2:

Love ya girl!

Just wanted to leave you some Fluffy Hugs to pick up later... :hugs:

Thank you so much Fluffy girl......I can use them right now..........sending a few back to you too! We all need them!

Hi miwa. Yep, defoliation is what you need to do. Those big ass leaves are going to cover many bud sites. Let the sunshine hit those buds.:high-five:
