Oldsmokey Grows Blue Cheese & Blueberry With Promix

My only experience fishing Canada was a couple years before 9/11.
3 buddies and me flew up to Calgary and then took a small plane 700 miles north .
We were near the arctic circle
We were on an elk hunt but I brought a pack rod and fished this river ( sorry , I cannot remember the name ) and caught supper every day.
Rainbows of some sort , Arctic char , and big bull trout ( which u couldn’t keep ).
It was a true wilderness experience that I have fond memories of.
Never saw a live elk to harvest , but the fishing was excellent.
Fishing is always easier than elk hunting in Alberta but both are equally fun. OMG don't get me going on hunting pictures now. When I was younger and healthier those were my main passions fishing and hunting. I used to take August and September off from work. I would get back from 2 weeks of salmon fishing. Just in time for the start of the elk bow hunting season and that would turn into the elk rifle season. Now I'm getting excited:laugh:

That elk hunt in Alberta was one of the most physically demanding 10 days of my life.
I get it Smoky .
I spent more time in the woods chasing deer & turkey , and on creeks chasing trout than I did anything else , except work.
Now I really am not interested in killing anything except an occasional fish to eat.
My old body was definitely abused by me as a younger man.
Fly fishing and gardening are my passions now.

I more of a animal watcher these days I am happy with a picture. But wont hesitate if I get offered some wild game.

Tomatoes don't seem to be minding the mega crop I'm feeding them at the same dosage as my girts 4.5gm/gal.

My Dad's fishing Story:love:

* The backstory is my Daddy loved fishing. The bigger the fish the better the fight he always felt. He loved big game fish for Ontario standards. Muskie, Pike a good strong Bass, that loved to fight. That's how I like to fish as well. Just like my Daddy. I was daddy's little boy even though I am 100% a Momma.

This is the story as my dad told me. Spoken with such enthusiasm he could barely control himself.
He got up one morning very early decided to hit the river and go fishing on Moon River. Pike or Muskie fishing was what he hoped to catch. He was out on the water in the hot sun all day no bites. Except for the Mosquitoes.
The day is getting a late, It's coming into the crest of the evening he still out on the water hoping to catch the big one and lo and behold as he has his motor trolling along heading into land. It happens. The big strike!

* At this point my dad is almost giddy.

He's reeling in this baby in with all his might, And then the fish turns and makes a break for it dad's losing his line to the Fish. It is back-and-forth between the two for 45 minutes. He sees his shadow in the water. It almost looks like a log floating by, he thinks to himself it must be a Muskie! Now he's so excited he is not going to let this fish when he's been sitting out here in the hot sun all day waiting for him, and finally the fish slowly tuckers out.

* Daddy is literally acting out his description.

That's it dad's winning, he sees the fish about 6 feet out it's getting closer and closer. He shuffles around the boat to collect his net, and doesn't take his eye off the fish. Now the fish is about 2 feet from the boat, dad looked down at the fish as he's trying to grab his line, and that's when it happens. Dad was in control, until In one split moment everything changed.

Dad stared at the fish and the fish was close enough the dad said the fish was staring back.
The eyes are the size of quarters, the body as long as his leg. Dad couldn't believe he was going to catch his biggest fish ever, until the fish opened its mouth! It had teeth larger than any dog he had trained.

* My dad was a breeder of Shetland sheep dogs

Dad got nervous didn't know what to do it was too much fish for him alone to handle. In a split second dad had to make a decision. He just fought a great fight with a massive fish that had teeth as big as jaws

....

....

So in that moment he reached down and grabbed his knife, and cut the line.

He named the fish "champion", Little did he know he will always be mine

I don’t
I would live in Bamfeild if I could well for the summer anyways. Can't imagine it being much fun there in the winter.
Yep you're right that's Port Alberni just coming out of the river into the inlet. Used to go there for two weeks every year fishing did that for almost 10 years Straight. Those were the good days I miss them.
i love the hole in the wall, just outside of port going toward Coombs. Last time we were visiting her family (two years ago) I climbed through the hole. It was neat for an Alberta boy to see. My wife says salmon fest is always a hit to go to. I’ve never been to it, but I hear good things about it, and that it’s always a good time.

yeah I heard the winters are gnarly in bamfield, but it’s just so damn beautiful out there.

That 3 year old sounds like she’s got it made it in the shade! Haha I’m glad everything’s going good with you BLS... and ya we get cold winters here, I hate them. Haha Im the opposite in I’d rather live in a hot environment everyday but your right it is what we make it... and I tend to make things fun. :tommy: Marching to the beat of my own drum :goof: Haha The pic you posted, those are about the size of the fish we pull outta here.. tons of northern, I can’t seem to catch a bass to save my life... just gotta keep on trying. I’m planning on taking the boat out this weekend, hopefully I can pull a decent catfish... big or small catfish always put a good fight, ima break the liver and stink bait out. I’ll snap a pic if I catch anything!
Sounds like a great time!! making me jealous... I have to look at my boat floating in the trailer, in my back yard.... that’s the most floating I’ll see it doLet us know how it went!! And yes please! Would love some photos!!

Day 34 Veg Update
Good morning fellow growers
All plants have been topped 3rd and final time. All except Blue Cheese#1 have been up potted into 7gl fabric pots. I am feeding all at 4.5gm I am still not adjusting ph but am monitoring it. pH is about 7.2 after mixing nutes. I only have room for 4 plants so I am trying to find a home for BC#1 or it's going in the compost bin.

Temp & Humidity just before lights out.
