Oldsmokey Grows Blue Cheese & Blueberry With Promix

Here’s a pic of a big ol’musky I caught a couple years ago in buckhorn lake. They said it was the biggest they seen pulled out of it. They took my picture and put it up in the Marina. Funny part is I caught it on a Mepps #2 spinner. Bent that hook right over, felt like I was dragging in a log! Hahaha

I would so love to go fishing with all you guys. My dad took me up near Edson fishing Perch twice when I was little, but the asshole was a complete drunk, absent all the time and he used to call me all the time to tell me to pack a bag because he was coming to pick me up to take me on a fishing trip - but he would never show up. I just remember waiting and waiting, wanting desperately for him to prove my mother wrong just this time.

But that was a very long time ago and ever since I've wanted to go fishing again. Problem is I was only a kid. No one taught me anything, not even how to tie a hook on.

So I'm living vicariously through your stories here this morning. Love to hear how some of you are quite accomplished at it.

All my best,
~Magnus

Yep that's it pretty simple then I just washed it down with a glass of water and wait for the fun. Here is thread on it.

Thanks for that! I only do edibles (Asthma) so I love seeing n learning new ways. I have to do everything the long way.... :thanks:
Morning Smokey!!!

Shit man, that sucks.
if you ever come to Ontario let me know @Magnus8, I’d love to take you fishing and teach you some skills. (Filleting etc.). Give a man a fish, feed him for the day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime.

When you relocate to Rocky mountain House I can show you spot right on the edge of town they have a stocked trout pond very easy to catch easy access and they allow you to use bait there.

I spent almost 7years out west living in Alberta. I think we only went fishing once. Too busy being young and dumb in those days I suppose.

We have musky stocked in a lake near here but I have never caught one, and never met anyone who has... I bet that was a hell of a fight, beautiful catch.

Let’s hear some fishing stories then!! ... what’s the biggest fish you’ve all caught, best fights? I swear where I’m at I’ve only had a few good fights, usually they just jump into the damn boat once their hooked lol
I hear ya @Backlipslide .. I just wanted to make sure! :) I’m one of those people that do not fair well in cold weather so thats what I meant... trust me, I’m not dissing Canadians, your all way too nice for that! ;) Lol Hows the new life around the house? Keeping you sleep deprived I’m sure haha
Sleep? What’s that? Lol not much of that happening here... except for our three year old... she gets the most sleep in the house! :laughtwo:

The cold isn’t for everyone, but it’s all about what you make of it. You can always dress warm and put on more layers, but you can’t take off layers for the heat. Id rather cool temperatures then hot. Unless I’m on a beach drinking or something.

here’s a picture of me back in 2014 with just a wee lil baby fish. On Marie lake Alberta. My favourite lake to fish in Alberta. (I posted the pic there, because I didn’t want to get in trouble again)

Biggest for me was a 62lb grouper caught off the coast of Cuba.
Damn! That’s a monster fish! :adore::bravo:

few more fish pics

Port Alberni the boats are stacked up at the narrows the fish have to come through to get in the river'

Wow! Great freaking catch!! My wife’s grandparents used to live out in bam field before her grandma and grandpa passed away. Beautiful country out there!!

I recognize those mountains in the second picture. That’s in port Alberni?

We are Canadians. We don't get offended. Eh :)
That’s right!! Lol we get insulted, then apologize to them for them insulting us!! Hahaha jk

A couple of Artic Char. Pulled from the cold waters off the shores of the Baffin Islands, while I was working up in Iqaluit years ago. Was using one of those ultra lite Shakespeare trout rods like you get at Walmart for 10 bucks. What a fight. Had that old rod doubled completely over.
Awesome catch brother!! :high-five:

aww that’s so sad!! I’d gladly take you under my wing and show you the ropes, son!! Can I call you son now!? Lol

you and I are a like in the way where my dad wasn’t around much when I was young and I had no real male figure to teach me those things... as I got older my dad was around more but I didn’t really have a male figure to look up to Growing up.

That would be awesome of you! Lots of great fishing spots near Rocky Mountain house!!

You and me both bro!! Partying And skateboarding seemed to have taken priority.

I would live in Bamfeild if I could well for the summer anyways. Can't imagine it being much fun there in the winter.
Yep you're right that's Port Alberni just coming out of the river into the inlet. Used to go there for two weeks every year fishing did that for almost 10 years Straight. Those were the good days I miss them.

That 3 year old sounds like she’s got it made it in the shade! Haha I’m glad everything’s going good with you BLS... and ya we get cold winters here, I hate them. Haha Im the opposite in I’d rather live in a hot environment everyday but your right it is what we make it... and I tend to make things fun. :tommy: Marching to the beat of my own drum :goof: Haha The pic you posted, those are about the size of the fish we pull outta here.. tons of northern, I can’t seem to catch a bass to save my life... just gotta keep on trying. I’m planning on taking the boat out this weekend, hopefully I can pull a decent catfish... big or small catfish always put a good fight, ima break the liver and stink bait out. I’ll snap a pic if I catch anything!

Hey, that's so kind of you.

I'll have to lure you into teaching me some basics. Pun intended.

Holy shhhheeeet! Is that a marlin? Big beautiful fish, I would feel obligated to take that sucker in to the taxidermist and mount it on my wall! Wow, I’m so jealous of the fishing you guys get to enjoy haha
Pacific Sailfish off of CostaRica.
No need to kill any game fish .
A few measurements and some photos is all a taxidermist needs.

My only experience fishing Canada was a couple years before 9/11.
3 buddies and me flew up to Calgary and then took a small plane 700 miles north .
We were near the arctic circle
We were on an elk hunt but I brought a pack rod and fished this river ( sorry , I cannot remember the name ) and caught supper every day.
Rainbows of some sort , Arctic char , and big bull trout ( which u couldn’t keep ).
It was a true wilderness experience that I have fond memories of.
Never saw a live elk to harvest , but the fishing was excellent.

Day 34 Veg Update
Good morning fellow growers
All plants have been topped 3rd and final time. All except Blue Cheese#1 have been up potted into 7gl fabric pots. I am feeding all at 4.5gm I am still not adjusting ph but am monitoring it. pH is about 7.2 after mixing nutes. I only have room for 4 plants so I am trying to find a home for BC#1 or it's going in the compost bin.

Temp & Humidity just before lights out.
