Ohioboy With Fast Buds: Let's See How Fast Exactly

Thanks everyone for all your help but these are the only two that made it I've really gone to some lengths to keep them as well as they are on top of being all organic and making all my own fertilizers at home in the brew station I made so to chop one of them down is not a possibility a divider in the tent and another marshydro maybe but I've got to believe I can beat this

You've got a good solid direction to go now with the information and bug identification that has been brought out. You can beat this! You've got an action plan, and even if you didn't have some of the critters we thought might have, you know what to do about them in the future if they appear.

Stay positive and keep the bug patrol going, keep the dead stuff away, keep your humidity in check...well you know what to do now.

These plants are very resilient, with your help they will make it!

I've been out all day wondering about this. I can't believe I missed the thrips. I'm battling them in my own grow. It was Icemud who pointed it out to me, but by the time I got back you all had solved that part of the mystery. I'm so sorry your grow has caused you all this frustration ohioboy, but the happy message here is that you've learned an amazing amount of new information about outdoor critters and how to be proactive about them.

I feel confident you have this in hand. It made me so proud to read the five or so pages of posting that'd gone on here today. This community leaves me in awe. Well done crew. :thumb:

And the stalk you posted looks like this:

The hollow is because it was eaten by something from the inside. IMO

Now, hit me everybody...but it sure looks similar to corn borer or other larvae damage!

High THC plants have hollow stems. I've had a few plants will hollow stalks.

Cheers

The brown gunk around that core suggests a critter boring its way through the pith.

Call your local Agricultural extension office get a hold of someone that can identify this critter and email them this picture.
. . .

What a great Idea! I forget universities had this information.
anywho,
Found some info---check this link HerE<<
pretty sure I see your bug on that link

in fact I learned there are 2 types of stink bugs, predatory and non predatory, one good one bad. Hmm.

Good luck

I probably should have made myself a little clearer on that earlier. :)

That was one of the reasons for my thought on that brownish hollow trail on this branch example myself. :thumb: There was brown gunk on the stem and the branch at the area it was cut off. Looked very much like worm poo and boring to me. But Lester's point about fungus is much more likely.
I blew up some of the pics of the stems Ohioboy posted and there does appear to be fungus going on. So, humidity control and keeping that fungus from spreading is on the menu for corrective action.

If I tear down and start again when is peak thc production in the plant I've read that foliage has more thc than flowers and males more so than females and I've also been told that if your blasting or making edibles or any tincture that you don't let the plant finish flower?

Outdoor organics. Kera Bubblegum & Northern Lights & An Afghan Lime Are My 3 Strains & I'm Growing

It's never been necessary to let a plant go all the way to the finish. This is habit, carried out by most of us just because it's always been done like that. The greatest amount of cannabinoids will always be in the flowers, but every inch of the plant, from ground up, is covered with trichomes, most one cell high, so we don't perceive it as such. In the study hall, one of the things we're exploring is making CCO using stems and fan leaves as well as buds, because those trichomes that aren't bud trichomes have different components that are just as valuable, if not more so. It's still new science.

There are cultivators that harvest at very particular points in the plant's lifespan to gain the advantage of the chemical processes involved as the trichomes mature. At particular points along that maturation span there will be more CBDA available, for example, or more of another component. More available CBDA translates into more CBD when you decarb. So at any time you can utilize the leaves for juicing or making other edibles.

I didn't realize there was a predatory stink bug. Learn something new every day.

I'm thinking part of my problem is I fed them a tea I made about a week ago and didn't water again until today so some is from lack of water I like them to tell me but I think there pulling too many nutes outta the soil because of lack of water and it's too much and burning it?

Outdoor organics. Kera Bubblegum & Northern Lights & An Afghan Lime Are My 3 Strains & I'm Growing

You're growing in organic soil, correct? The soil determines what the plant gets dependant on the plant's needs. You're overthinking, a common thing, so take a breath and let it out slowly.

I jumped back and realized you're dealing with fungus. I don't know that I'd use any part of the plant to ingest. If it were me, the plant would be culled and buried deep in the trash bin, or at least cut back far enough to have stopped the progression of the fungus. That's just me, so you do what comes to you.

I know how frustrating this can be. You need to think of it as a science experiment that went wrong and taught you some valuable lessons. If there's any way to save the plant, this crew will help you find it.

Hey ohioboy!:high-five:
It looks like you're in good company here with these knowledgeable growers above lending a helping hand in which I don't know what else I could add to the conversation. If there is anything you think I might be able to do or help with please feel free to ask or write me privately & I'll do what I can for ya but just so you know I'm very old school and don't pay much attention to the numbers like others and just let nature take it's course for the most part.:geek:

Hope everything works out and have a good day mate!:passitleft:

I just have to say this about juicing or using parts of the plant, because that is so badly affected by whatever causes are doing it. I just wouldn't use them. It's not going to be good pure stuff by any means with all of the brown/dead and possible fungus issues, in addition to the smallest critters that he has had on the plant. Personally, I just don't think it would be healthy at all for ingesting in any way.

Does anyone disagree with this?

Ohioboy, if you are going to keep trying with the plants you do need to get in there and remove all of that dead stuff and gunk, at the nodes and along the stem. Clean it up of all of that, first thing. Then you will have a much easier time pinpointing where future problems begin.

Just my thoughts here.

I'm so sorry you are having this trouble, I feel so bad for you!
