Oh No - It's A Green Hole! - Reverse Thrusters! - Dammit - Too Late!

Looking good WC!

Ya' think the yellowing on your White Widow might be due to low nitrogen levels?

It sure looks that way hey? The Cal Mag is 2-0-0 and I thought that would be enough N to calm the yellowing a bit. I don't usually have plants that go that yellow all on their own late in flowering, before flushing. She does look in general a bit underfed (aaargghh!!!) but since the other WW appeared to be constantly over fed, and would burn to a crisp if she even caught sight of the nutrient bottle, this one's been getting a bit less. I counted back and it's at exactly 7 weeks flowering now so I figure I'm best to leave it alone at this point...I've got more WW seeds if I think I want to go there again.

That's awesome that you have a pet luthier. I wish... The store I was in when I bought the Seagull is a very likely culprit for not having done any more than uncrate the Martins and hang them on the wall, since they don't seem to have any guitar tech there. Assuming that they are meant to have the nut and saddle adjusted, and not just crank the truss rod. I'll keep that in mind next time. Thanks!
In my misspent youth, one of the kids I used to wander around town with sometimes, in my efforts to find anything at all to do that didn't involve getting beaten up by cops , was a kid named John Larivee. He was always dragging around amazing (Larivee) guitars made by his dad. I think they're probably based in Vancouver.

Got any strain recommendations for me UncleC? I like sativa highs myself- but otherwise anything that's just unusual and interesting that stands out from your crowd of plants?

Heya weasy,, i am in Calgary visiting, important???nah, just sayin cuz my son in law actually bought some seeds at a shop downtown, just sayin because they were 'jack herers, like you mentioned, and i traded him a seed of mine, a super lemon haze, also like you mentioned, so now I have one jack herer auto seed to try out,,:thumb:

The lemon haze is my favorite plant so far in my very limited experience, and i have three of em in my flower room now.

I am impressed by your workings my friend,, i have only ever known you through your postings, not a journal,, fine work indeed:high-five:

Looking nice in the veg and flower chambers lol you do make me second guess getting WW to be honest but in a good way lol

Thanks Lex. The WW seems like a nice solid bud- easy to trim and probably is a good yielder. There are a zillion different white widows and I don't think you should be discouraged by mine. I think I could figure out how to grow it better in another round or two but don't really have the patience for it right now. I'm supposed to be satisfying two crazy patients who mainly love the Pineapple Chunk type high because it has the effect when smoked of whacking them in the forehead with a large sledgehammer, which calms their jangled brain cells and makes things go smoothly for them. I don't like it as much, though I think almost anyone would say that the PC is killer smoke. I doubt if the WW is smoke that I want as it looks too indica for me. Best case is that it will please the patients, but the Blueberry and PC seem to do that, so I'd rather grow something more interesting right now.
A guy to maybe check out if you do grow the WW is SciGuy. He has a great journal, and seems somewhat of a WW expert, having grown out a bunch of different versions a bunch of different times.

I picked up the guitar later in my life, late forties, after dragging around a fender f35 my whole life, never learning to play it cuz it hurt too much, I finally bought a 3/4size nylon string guitar, and learned to play,, then I bought a 'real' guitar, one electric and one acoustic, a Washburn, when I knew something about the actual guitar, I bought my life guitar, not the best maybe, but is to me,, a Blueridge, whom I love and miss right now because it is not near me at this moment,, soon though my pet,, soon

Thanks a lot Nivek. I didn't start a journal till recently. I wasn't sure it would fly- as normally I have a lot of suffering plants and issues caused by lack of time and attention. Having a journal is a lot of fun though, and it's helped me a lot to whip my plants into somewhat better shape. Partly out of shame, and partly because of getting more help from everyone.
I found out that my plants often actually look better in the pics than real life- so that's good, sort of, I think. :thumb:
Also figured out that it is possible to have a journal and still have time to update a bit, if I just don't sleep. :thumb:
Glad to hear you confirm about the SLH. I had a seed once but it died :( I got all excited about Jack Herer, then ended up mistakenly getting the version from Green House Seeds, which I found out gets quite terrible reviews and isn't the 'real JH' which comes from Sensi. I didn't like the GSC JH at all However, SweetSue just harvested some JH which I think is the same version I had, and she loves it- so it could well have been grower error or an unlucky batch.

Thanks Roach. Hmmmm... Are these squeals of protest I'm hearing?
Yeah she looks good. I like the shapes of the stalks and some things about her appearance, but she has no other interesting features so far and no enticing scent.
The two greatest bits of relationship advice I know

- If you don't like the smell of a girl the relationship will never last. This advice has always proved true for me. This girl doesn't smell that bad- but she doesn't smell good either. Some girls I could hang around and smell all day if I didn't have stuff to do.

- You should always meet her mother before getting too involved. I never met her mother. I did meet her sister though and she was very fussy and always complaining about everything and confusing me.

So I'm skeptical about this one.

Hope you're well TR and always looking forward to more updates from you. :thumb:

Hey weasel could you maybe do a smoke report on the WW or atleast let me know what your patients say about it. I guess I am not entirely put off the white widow but I just dont like it being touchy about the nutes. Those bagseed clones i have came from a plant that was nute sensitive it was pain in the ass and these clones are a little bit too but i had fallen in love with the bud thus why i still have it. I'll check out the guy you mentioned see what he says about WW and what not lol

Thank you my friend. I have been away trying to start a new business with my wife. I am waiting on some seeds to start a new journal.
What you say about the smell is true, it so important. It makes a dent in your memory.

Sure Lexort. When this plant is harvested and cured I'll try some, when I get a chance and am in a safe place -Lol, and also get some second opinions. I'm not always the best judge because I'm actually sort of hyper sensitive to some types of smoke. I tend to blame it on indica strains because I haven't found any sativas that disagree with me yet.
This WW comes from Seedsman, and gets good reviews. Obviously, with so many versions of it, and different phenos, there will be a lot of different experiences. I ran my 'fussy' theory past SciGuy a while back, on his journal, and from what I remember, he didn't seem to think the strains he'd grown were overly fussy. He did say it is a 'cal mag hog'. He'll be keen to answer any questions you give him - seems like a very helpful guy.

Here's his journal link- Monster Cropped White Widow - SCROG - Hydro - 2015 he's got a lot of very interesting reading there.

2-0-0 should be enough N to keep her happy until harvest. Knowing how her sister was so fussy it's probably best to just let her ride it out until harvest as you said. I'm sure you don't plan on smoking the flag leaves anyways. LOL!!

WOW!! You were running around with acoustic guitar royalty!! As you well know, Larivee is one the most renowned guitars makers in the world. Those beauties that he builds command a premium price but the tones that they are capable of producing is just amazing.
Did little John Larivee just so happen to forget one of those early Larivee guitars at your house?

You're correct about the nut and saddle set up with Martin guitars. The nut and saddle heights are set high when they leave the Martin factory. This allows for the guitar to be set up based on the players preference and playing style. This way if someone prefers a high action they would not need to replace the nut or saddle or install any saddle shims to get the action that they desire.

Got any strain recommendations for me UncleC? I like sativa highs myself- but otherwise anything that's just unusual and interesting that stands out from your crowd of plants?

A couple of Sativa dominant hybrids that I like:
Sour Diesels and Chemdawgs
Blue Dream - Humbolt Seed Co.
Blueberry Headband - Emerald Triangle
Tangie and Chocolope - DNA Genetics
Cindy 99 if you can find a cut.
Satori - Mandela
Super Lemon Haze - GHS
Super Silver Haze - Mr. Nice

IBL's
Most Thai genetics
Oaxaca (Mexican)
Panama Red
Vietnam Black
Vietnam Hao Bac

Thanks for that list. I'll google and search every one of them. There's a Panama in the POTM this month from Allsmiles which looks and sounds great.
I didn't realize that Larivee was that famous actually. I have seen the name here and there since but don't get out much :). Should have shaken John down for a guitar somehow when I had the chance!
Hope you're having a great day UncleC. Talk soon

The real deal Panama Red is some really fine ganja. Finding the right one may be a bit of a challenge but if you get lucky you won't want to smoke anything else.

Yes you should have shaken down John for one of those early model guitars. It would be worth quite a bit of $ today I'm sure.
If I were you I'd look him up and ask if he'd be interested in a bartering proposition. Some Pineapple Chunk for a guitar sounds like a fair trade to me. :)

By the way, if he agrees please let him know that I'd be willing to trade some Girl Scout Cookies for one.
Dreadnaught body style with an Adirondak top and Indian Rosewood back and sides would be my preference. But do let him know that I'm open to other models as well. :)

I'm on it already. I'm sending my trusted accomplice Mr Wu to do the negotiations. His grasp of the English language is a bit thin but I'm sure he will get the point across and at least I trust him to not steal the guitars before he gets them back bere.

May the force be with Mr. Wu!! I do hope that he returns from his mission bearing gifts and good news.
:Namaste:

By the way, I'm running a couple of the strains that I had mentioned earlier along with a Sensi Jack Herer. I've posted some strain info along with some pics in a new journal that I've recently started. Feel free to follow along if you'd like.

I see the link - I think. Going there now. Thank you for the invite! :thumb:
I still have it on my to-do list to catch up on your other journal...I just stumbled into it at some point and got hooked on the -since deleted- discussion around the Indicatalk.com website thing, then never went back and caught up. I hate going backwards. But I like knowing what's going on in the grow too. Always nice to catch a journal early

I got a bit of a slap on the hand by the moderators for the indicatalk discussions. I guess all of the talk about online safety was ruining the good vibes here and making some feel a bit unsafe. So they went ahead and scrubbed my journal of the discussions and sent me a message telling me to at ease with the indicatalk stuff.

Don't feel that you need to go back and get caught up unless you're having trouble falling asleep. Unless the garden gnomes show themselves there's usually not much going on in my garden other than light, water, and a bit of top dressing every now and then.

There is the occasional post by some fellow that goes by the alias weaselcracker that you'll likely find entertaining. Other than that, reading my journal will be like taking a sleeping pill. LOL!!

You can't imagine how badly I need sleeping pills right now. I think I'm genetically programmed to sleep only in the daytime. Unfortunately, the rest of the world is programmed to destroy any chance of that happening. The pressure to catch up on your journal is off a bit now that I've read the beginning of your new journal where you spill the beans on most of what's involved.
I really hate the censorship part of 420. Sad to say it's probably necessary most of the time, and when it isnt- well- nobody's perfect I guess.*

*actually I still just hate it but I love the website otherwise and appreciate that it exists and the people here are so cool and the tone is great and the mods work hard and I'm here for free, etc. So I've resolved to try and behave myself.
