Obi Wan Cannabinoid Presents - Jock vs Jack - A T5 - Hempy Grow Journal

It's holding their signs on. Nothing more. It was within arms reach at the moment :) Its the same tape I use on the ventilation connections.

I topped both plants today. I'm going to veg for another 4 weeks, transition light color for a week, and then flip to 12/12. Hopefully I have enough height in the cab. This will be in stride with my plan to veg for 8 weeks and flower for as long as needed. I'm hoping flower will be 12 weeks or less.

Here are a couple pics from the topping job. I'll try to snap a pic when I water tonight. They are getting plain ph'd RO this time. I'll probably water a little deeper as well. Perhaps get some runoff.

Here are a couple cabinet pics after this evenings watering.

Jack has a bit of gangster lean going on. I might try to encourage her back to center or at least inhibit further lean. I may have had her too close to a fan for a couple days. I'm not sure. That or I need to get watering deeper.

We're cruising right along here.

Cheers!

OMG Grapefruit. Fresh, perfectly ripe, sweet, pink Grapefruit.

I'm in the cabinet right now checking on things. I tucked few leaves on Jock. My fingers smell like Grapefruit.

This is just too cool. I don't care if it lasts. It's here now and I'm enjoying it.

I pumped nearly a gallon of full strength feeding into Jock. Waiting to see if I get runoff. I hope so. She was light and ready after the plain RO.

Jack still has some weight to her bucket. I splashed a little bit of Jock's nute water into her anyway.

I inadvertently let them go for nearly 6 days without water. I got busy, over extended myself with an average of 2 hours of sleep per night which I believe dropped my immune system from physical exhaustion. Now I'm laid up with influenza-a.

I watered with RO and a dash of CalMag. Jack (on the right) clearly has Nitrogen toxicity and Jock is getting close. I did get some runoff this time which is good. I used up 2 gallons of water between the two plants. Jock was bone dry. Jack was close.

Just a quick update. I'm heading back to bed :)

No fun being ill... my sweetie and I shared a bout with it earlier in the season.
Is there a hidden gas peddle and a 4 barrel carburetor hooked up to those buckets?!?! Haulin ass baby!
So, what are your triggers for 'nitrogen toxicity'? Color? Hooked tips of course. Any other indicators?

I think it's usually really dark green leaves with scrawny weak stems, or misshapen leaves. The plant on the right is definitely darker than it has been.

I'll try to shoot a close up pic of Jack later today. You both hit on the N toxicity.

Even through Jack was bone dry some leaves display what looks like over watering. Clearly not the case. Additionally, they are a very dark green with contorted wrinkles.

It's a good example that should be photo documented.

Alright. Here is a quick photo follow up. The first two are of Jack and her Nitrogen tox. At least that's what I believe it is. The third is Jock who perked up following the watering. There is a stray leaf or two that are nearing N tox I think so I'm gonna be a little more careful going forward.

Heading back to bed, lol.

I noticed that, too but I'm not 100% sure of the cause. I've had multiple things going on with Jack. She was really dry, coupled with a typical heat cycle which usually isn't an issue when they are healthy, nutrient imbalance, possibly a ph issue as well? She's never seemed quite right from day 1. Dark, wrinkly and very sensitive. I won't pass judgment on one bean but she's been a stickler for a perfect environment.

I'm going to hit up the plant troubleshooting guide here to see if I can narrow down potential issues.

Jock was dry today. I decided to feed at half strength hoping not to reach full on N toxicity with her. She's doing really well. 1 gallon to runoff.

Jack got 1/2 gal no runoff. I ran out of RO. Gotta restock.

I'm going to start transitioning to flower on March 18. Plan is to swap out half of the blue 6500k bulbs for red 3000k and switch to 12/12. I will stay with the veg nutes until March 31. On April 1 I will swap out the remaining 6500's, move to bloom nutes, and hopefully start counting flower days.

It looks like we are on a great wet/dry cycle here. It takes 3 days to get dry, 4 days to get very dry and at 5 days we get dust dry droop. 3 to 4 days is the sweet spot. I think I hit on a perfect bucket size for my grow cabinet (@3.5gal ± a smidge).

Here are a couple pics from 2 days ago and one from today.

They are very thirsty today. Fed @ 50% strength.

Both plants are beginning to self-defoliate. Lower leaves that don't get much light are fading and falling off. These are comprised of the first fan leaves and appears completely normal and timely.

Cheers!
