Obi Wan Cannabinoid Presents - Jock vs Jack - A T5 - Hempy Grow Journal

Once Jock pushes out another node or two I'm going to top her. Not sure about Jack yet.

I'm still planning an 8 week veg and 12 week flower depending on trich maturity. I anticipate a very Sativa July :)

I'm going to let things coast in the grow cabinet for a couple days and see what we see on Sunday.

Happy growing,

Good Morning Jock

I lowered the light another 3-4 inches yesterday. Let's see how they do today...

Late mid-day pics to close out the weekend. A quick peek under the canopy revealed both girls have split their pants. This tells me we are on our way to some nice veg growth. Here we go, friends.

I plan on topping the Jock. Going to play it by feel with Jack. In the pics I was trying to show how the base of the stems have split. I think it's kinda neat to see.

I'm confident the plants will stretch. In fact, they seem to be hitting their stride right about now. Later in the grow that lower growth will fade away. Right now I'm just trying not to get nutes on it, lol.

My current plan is to neglect the plants for another day or three. I check on them once a day to be sure something hasn't fallen on them or such but that's about it.

These Hempy buckets. After 2 weeks the grow kinda goes into autopilot. Another 420 member turned me on to them and it seems to suit me very well.

SWEET, another Perlite passive hydro grower! :thumb: Like the strains you chose and the Back up to the backup to the other backup's... :bravo:

I've been admiring your Papaya grow from afar :)

Alright. The neglect continues. Here is what I have to show for it...

Jock day 16

Jack day 16

Let's talk about smell. With 16 days of veg growth there is no need for a carbon filter yet. Getting up close and personal with my nose reveals nothing special. Perhaps a leafy, lettuce scent?

When I give a gentle rub on one of the lower leaf sets is when the fun starts. Jack has a nice fragrant spice scent right now. Not too skunky. No real citrus overtones. Just a nice spice.

Fondling Jock's lower leafs reveals a sugar note nixed in with the spice. It's definitely sweeter but I can't quite place it yet.

I'm beginning to have high hopes for the Jock.

Hempy grows are great - love the passive, simple approach. Really interested in seeing how your j*ck experiment turns out.

One thing I've noticed about Hempy's - they do seem more susceptible to diseases. It could just be selection bias - I'm only remembering it that way, or small data set, or whatever. But I want to think Hempy's get more non-bug illnesses than other forms. Now, more might be 5% instead of 3% - I'm not at all saying all Hempy's get ill.

Anyway, this is a great ride so far. +1.

Grow cabinet maintenance is scheduled for this weekend. I need to replace the vent tubes and create a better seal around the air intake and exhaust ports of the cab. A quick vacuum and general inspection of hangers and lines is also due.

Onward and upward.

Oh? Tell us more... we're curious!
I've not run across any diseases in my hempy pots. Honestly, I can't imagine a reason for any difference, so I'm a touch extra curious.
What diseases have you seen?

The only thing that comes to mind is root rot from a poorly mixed medium? Not sure. I'd be curious to learn more.

Got home from work with intentions to finally feed the plants. Opened up the cab to find this:

They look fine to me. Gonna let em ride another day or two...
