Not So Rookie Anymore

I'm working on the same issues with light spectrums and intensities. From what I understand you should be in veg around 10.000 lux at the top of the canope and as they grow you move the light closer and closer until when ar flowering you should peak at about 40.000-60.000 lux.

I downloaded a lux meter for the phone and using it as a reference.

(I took a reading from the winter sun in barcelona around 2pm and got about 60.000 lux .)

With my 250w 2700k CFL I got 40-50.000 lux at about 5-10cm distance and it gave me a reading of 3000k spectrum so my guess is that the app ain't that precise but it will give you an point of reference at least.

The distance from what I understand is that what the light needs to create PAR which is the amount of light of plants are converting for photosynthesis.

Lux is a good reference point that a lot of us use here to determine brightness. It in no way correlates to PAR (Photosynthetically Active Radiation) which is the light plants need.
That aside, I also use Lux to determine brightness (as I can't afford a $700 par meter) and as long as we all tell each other what lights we are using we can all get a general idea as to how effective they will be.
I use the iPhone app Galatica for Lux measurement. My data is as follows.
My reflective Lux on my 100w equivalent (12w actual) LED 5000k bulbs is 6200

My direct measurement of the bulb is 34000 Lux.

I get good results for nurselings in veg but this wouldn't be ideal for flowering.

Uv LED would be awesome. I use UV to cure the weed when it's washed and trimmed and in the dry room. UV stops any spores I may have missed in the H2O2 bath from growing. Alternaria hates UV.

What's spores are only from males, no? I'm a newb at this so keep spitting out information! Haha .

I don't know about you guys but I use a lot of Guano based products and I wouldn't tongue blast a bats fart box so I prefer to wash.

I'll let the king of week Jorge Cervantes explain.....
Jorge Cervantes: Washing Away Powdery Mildew - YouTube

Do you know if Jorge washes all his buds or just the ones with mold. I have been reading up on this and think I will have to try it on at least some of them for a comparison. I like the idea it supposed to make your smoke smoother. I don't believe I've heard it done with the peroxide before this. Thanks for posting the video.

I don't know about Jorge but I wash all my weed...almost religiously. The crap that comes off of them is disgusting. Only difference is I use the 3 bucket method. H2O2 dip wash followed by lemon juice water dip wash followed by plain tap water dip wash.
The citric acid seems to help the weed hold its colour during dry.

Ow much time does this add to your drying and curing cycle?

About 4 hours.

Does it add water weight that would need to be dried during your drying/curing process?? If it makes it better then fuck it what's a couple days.. patience is the name of the game anyway. So i think its a great idea just wondering if there is any drying techniques that are used when bud washing?

After I washed my harvest for the first time and saw all the crap than came off I started washing every harvest. I wasn't gonna smoke the crud that came off the plants anymore.

So what is all that from? Where does it come from? It is possible to avoid all that gunk on the buds in a completely sealed room?

The benifit for me as long as it doesn't affect the taste would be the smoother smoke I keep reading about. As much Mexican weed as I smoked in my day I'm not to worried about the little bit of dust that might have settled on my plants in the tent. I do see a huge benefit for those that have medical conditions though.

Nope. It comes from the air. There's dead human skin cells, spores, dust, bacteria and if you have pets...it's even worse.

That dead skin cell part just made me gag.

And i dont have pets but i do have kids...

Lmao that was sooooo just a joke.

I worry about losing thichs. I feel especially in jorges video that thered be no sugar left on the buds.

Have you ever tested it i believe i read somewhere you send your stuff to the labs jimmy. So have you ever tried to see the difference between no washed and washed potency....

Im definitely gunna try it on a few arms this time around and see how i like it
