I stay on grow nutes until the first signs of flower then switch to the bloom nutes.

Exactly. Continue the grow nutes through the stretch until you start seeing flowers forming. The clawing I mentioned earlier is nothing to fret about really, it's not excessive in your plant just something I noticed. Once you enter bloom and switch nutes it will level out since you wont be using the same amount as you were.

Agree with the others. I use Advanced Nutrients and recently was talking with them as to when I should switch. They suggested that when the nodes start forming very close together and start showing the first signs of pre-flower. They also suggest adding a product like their Big Bloom.

Day 34. The stretch has begun. Starting to create some room for the branches. Plant is happy. I backed off of the nutes for a round to let her repair any leaf curling. Things are going well. Still no real flowering started, just preflowers. Im sure it wont be long now. Here are some true color pics

Quick update day 35. Lots of stretch, i need to raise the light lol. Branches doing well. Going to put her back on veg nutes today before she sleeps. Here are some pics. Also no real flowering yet. Preflowers on most nodes including branches though.

My northern lights auto is at day 58 right now and your going to love it! In the 40 day range I was worried but hang tight those buds are coming I have lots and they are really growing faster now

Anyone have thoughts on defoliating? Getting rid of weakest very bottom branches? Or should I just stay keeping it super simple and let her ride it out?

If you trim the smaller branches down low it will leave that much more resources to the bigger main branches.

On mine I have been taking a half dozen or so of inner facing leaves that are blocking light from the growth under them every other day and I have to say its really promoting some awesome new growth and stretching of the e tra bud site branches

Stinky Snid used to preach taking the inward facing fans, it made a believer out of me!

Butchered the 2 very bottom branches. And 2 fan leaves a few nodes from the top that i couldnt tuck. Ill leave her for a few days before any more maintanace.
