Nick Hardy's Skunk Works #1 10 Strains 18 Solo Cups 4x4 HPS/CMH: Thailand!

The DWC need out soon. That means repotting to SIPs for two I think. Cool. That will be fiddly 😂 I think the tank water needs changing as even top ups aren’t replacing the mix - but I might just re pot as required (just two) and drain the tank. Leave them under those lights another day or two when I’ll have the energy to fire up the tent. That needs emptying, cleaning, fans tuned up, ducting replaced and added. The lad is doing his Open Water certification until Thursday, his thank you can be some lifting and hefting 😂

Bit worried about one of the Blueberry. The lad put way too much water in the SWICKS. Gave it the tinest top water, 5ml maybe. Its front middle in the third picture.

Might pop the last wave in a minute. Or I might finish the documentary I have on and go to bed!

And popped the last two strains.

Both @Barney's Farm

Mimosa x Orange Punch

Strawberry Cheesecake AUTO

I nearly swapped the Autos for the Cookies but may as well give them a whirl. Never grown an auto so I’ll give it a whirl.

They were pool water (which actually worried me a touch - its a little green after all the rain last night. Think & Co has the guys coming in a moment to sort it. They just ramp up the H2O2 for an half an hour and it disappears. Any way that for an hour. Now paper and bags hanging vertically in a warm dark place. Swing them up to horizontal twice a day to keep the water moist.

The other two batches def draining the DWC into SIPs and let them acclimatise a little before next steps. Some leaves yo remove probably.

The ones in SWICKs are good a little while longer where they are. Pretty sure the sick Blueberry is 86.

DWC no more

@Azimuth you’re first two SIPS are a go!

These were all 3 weeks and 4 days ago.

Need to update my records (what there are of them) been some colour changes. The next 14 need to be in DWC by the time the 5 I popped today are ready for dirt. By then these should be in the tent. Saturday seems good for that.

Last 5 seeds of this project in the dirt. 2x Strawberry Cheesecakes and 3 mimosa x orange punch from @Barney's Farm One Strawberry is bit behind but we had 2” taps on the Mimosa after 48 hours so had to move. The one strawberry at an inch. The other 1/2 or less.

One concern is we have yellowing leaves on some of both the SWICKS and the full solos. We’ve never had this. I went to the tents (not the mattresses - see OT) and found similar signs in the ones ready for the flower room although strangely not the clone tent. They’re all on the same 5.8 water. I haven’t mixed a tank in a couple of weeks. 100% the lad has got his numbers wrong somewhere. Binning the 30L left in there and making fresh myself with him later.

He needs to remember numbers and things since he passed his Open water and we’ve agreed to try and get him to Divemaster so he can earn from it in the next 4 months.

Anyhoo 27 plants under lights here in this little stand. Bee’s best guess is 4 mothers, 30 in veg ready to go upstairs and another 10 smaller clones in solos outside. 70-75 plants under lights 🤣

Not bad for a couple that started their first clones off less than 9 months ago 😆

Nick and some pics!

Looking good Nick some nice growth bro 👌🏽 is that algae on top of the solos? I throw cinnamon on top of mine now to prevent it. Will do it every run lol ✌🏽
Hi Greenvein, is the algae an issue for the plants? How does the cinnamon prevent the growth of algae?

Yeah we get it on all the top watered ones. Someone wise once told me, may have been @Bill284 or maybe Azi

“Yeah it happens, don’t worry about it, just look as nice”

Never have since. Could just be nitrogen staining maybe? When we chop the plants the perlite inside the pots is never green. Dirty white is all.

Nick

Ok fair enough Ive only had it in Coco I don't think it's a major issue but it does use up resources so depending on how bad it gets it could pose a threat.. if it gets around your roots it could suffocate them so I'm reading..

@Carmen Ray cinnamon is a natural antifungal. early in my grow I scraped off the algae when it dried out, watered untill run off & then spread cinnamon over the surface.. I had no more algae grow after but it still allowed what looked like mycelium to grow on surface which is a good sign so will make this my standards now 👍🏽

Again, you’re a maniacal pair you two. And you just started this kind of scale 9 months ago? Damn. Maniacs. I love it.

There is no such thing as “plant deficiencies” in this house.

Mixed my first tank of nutes for weeks this evening.
Bang Middle of middle for late veg probably. Plus a little Seaweed filler.
EC 2.2 Ph 5.8
Everything downstairs is getting it but I gave to the solos for this grow a couple of hours ago.

Just checked. They look so much better already. Leaves up and the edging on a couple starting to go. Think too much to expect all the lower fans to recover but will check in the morning. Definitely like obviously an improvement. Even & Co noticed walking past with a shopping bag.

Think he got his numbers moxed up. No worries. They’ll come back.

Nick

Hmm. Hmm.

First off:

just started this kind of scale 9 months ago?

We first started growing weed 9 months ago. Full stop. Period. 🤣🤣🤣😆😆

Anyhoo. Something really weird. Fed this evening and all looking awesome. Lower yellow fans gone on a few. As in chopped or about to be. No drama. But…

The SIPs have been taking 80-100ml a day. Same as the Airpots. But the Hulkberry took like 10-20ml to overflow. Tried again. Overflow. Plant looks fine. Top watered it instead. Took about 70ml to overflow. Hopefully that will fix it. Tomorrow I’ll get the endoscope down there and see if I can make anything out. There’s some nice looking plants in there but the ones in SWICKS (40-50ml each day) are mostly rocking. I’ll grab some snaps of them tomorrow with the endoscope. For tonight is just the two pictures below of some of the more baby ones. The Blueberrys are plenty blue/purple already.

Sunday Update Part #1

Easier to split the SWICKs out.

All but one looking great. Its another Blueberry which I’m sad about because the other two look so good. It was still wet in the SWICK - all the others are dry each evening. About 50ml each day. So I top watered. “That’s your solution for everything Homer!” (OT - its a classic) The one Strawberry Cheesecake looks like it ain’t gonna ignite. I think all 3 of TRNH’s of the same have failed at the same point. Meh.

But yeah the SWICKs need to move because they’re going to be hitting the lights by tomorrow. I’m thinking about skipping the DWC to get them all in the tent. Not sure.

Some photos.

Sunday Update Part #2

Sometimes the runts come on strong at the end.

I’ll come back to this is a moment.

So drumroll please. A first look at the Solo Lab. There’s a few bits to finish. As you can see we have them under LED still although the HPS and CMD are cabled and ready to go. I need to find a working clip fan or two - its amazing fairly sure 5/6 I bought in a batch all failed after 2 days. They are from a grow brand. One you’ll know. Bad batch or something I guess.

The AC piping is ready for the intake. The return air to keep a sealed circuit I can’t do until Tuesday. Tomorrow I’ll get a couple of new Co2 tanks and that’s easy enough to hook up. Pretty much there. I’m going to push the cold air into the bottom of the tent at plant level. As it warms it will rise and get sucked out back to the AC hood we had built a few months back (from whence it came) that’s about it. Some trays underneath for easy clean with the wet vac.

On the plants - specifically SIP v. Airpot.
Gorilla Glue #4 in orange. SIP killing it. But I got the runty one. Its only about 1” shorter but its never picked up so many nodes. The stem is pretty bare. Its a long journey yet.
Staying on the SIP tip - I mentioned yesterday the Hulkberry SIP didn’t feed to the res which was weird so I top watered. Today all normal. 80ml or so same as big sister GG. Which is good. The Airpot SIP about the same size at the moment. (Which I think will be the average result of the 3 comparative strains)

So yeah hope you like The Maniac Solo Lab

Decommissioning of The Solo Seedling Station All in One (TM) has begun.

IMG_4696.jpeg

Two Blueberries. One of them, the fat lady - you can hear her warming up in the dressing room. But there are two tiny green leaves, where there’s life there’s hope. I actually took her out the tray and left her on the floor but & Co reckons she can do it 🤷🏽The other will be fine but we didn’t have space in the tent for her and she’s way behind everything else. As it is until we can free up space in the veg tent which is now gonna be Thursday earliest then we have 20 plants in a tent designed for a paltry 18 plants. So why not leave her chill with the babies?

Skipping the DWC as all of these are going huge already. They’re all shorter finishing too so it will hopefully bring harvesting/drying more in sync.

Looks cool. Gonna stabilise for a day or so then bring on the CMH to start, before the HPS beast.

Lookin good :high-five::yahoo:

Chatting to @Absorber about solos offline but this is kind of relevant to future grows too. Love the SWICK stage.

Yeah pretty similar I think. This fit flush rim to rim but we SWICK in them so there’s a layer of perlite in the bottom thst makes them site a little proud of the rim. All the better for watering.

See what happens between the ones with DWC session and without but might skip it altogether from now on.
