Newbie First Grow - Outdoors - Bag Seeds

Ok that's a huge room for CFLs. The light would dissipate so much it would be a waste unless you built something in the corner like a tiny grow closet. Not a crazy grow closet just something to contain the light and you could put mylar or something reflective on the inside so you'll get the most out of your light and not have a bunch of CFLs dangling around the plant in the corner. At least with CFLs you don't need to worry about the heat as much. Also don't underestimate the size your plant could grow to. My last plant was pretty small but the plant before that was a Dutch Passion blueberry Auto and it was almost 3 feet tall and very bushy. If you treat it like a common house plant even with CFLs it would be leggy and the yield would be pretty small. Do you already have the seed? If not what are you thinking about getting?

I don't have the seed and have just been putting my money to the side for my photos for next year. I do have this closet that came with the house I just use it for curtains and coats and storage.....but I have so much unused other spaces that I could move the stuff in it. I literally have so much closet and shelf that I can't use it all.

What plants do u suggest? I only plan on one or two at the most at a time so maybe four seeds til time to plant outside again.

You should have white walls at the minimum and will have to get the cfl's closer to the plant. Just using the normal room light probably won't be enough. Are you concerned about the plant smell?

No the plant smell is not an issue at all. I don't ever have company and if I do...smelling MJ is a normal smell in my house. I would think if my associates did stop by and did not smell anything they might think I was dead....lol

I am new to all this...remember that when I give my limited advice

Well, as a closet grower, I think that would be perfect. How wide is the closet? Later in life the plants spread their branches, and if you are going to be putting it the dark for sleep you need to be able to shut the door without crushing the plant.
I will take the measurements after work. I was thinking since they are autos I don't need to shut the door and probably wont. Also it is close to the window do I am sure I will pull back the curtain and let the light shine in...it won't be a problem with the mix from cfls and sun?

I really wish it was a way to put it on the counter. I have 10 ft tall ceilings.

Are there cold weather plants?

I'm new to this as well, but don't autos need some hours of darkness? Are light leaks an issue with autos..... experienced grower, please chime in :)

Autos are not dependent on night/day length to flower and can be grown with 24hour light, although some darkness is the norm.

Extra sunlight wwith the CFLs is all good Lil :thumb:

Can u pollinate ur plants during preflower?

I ask this because my plants are in preflower and I forgot my fella had all those random plants in his yard till he said something tonight. The plants are near mine separated by a large bush.
Some of his plants were male. I killed them but I saw open pollen sacs. How worried should I be?

They say a male plant can spread pollen up to a mile in the wind. I wouldn't take a chance having a male anywhere near me with the limited knowledge I have.

I killed them all.....just wondering if I should be worried about the open pods I saw.

Red, you should NOT be worried, at all!!!

Unfortunately, depending on wind direction, etc. it's very possible that one or more of your girls could have been pollinated, but if so, there's nothing you can do about it now, so no sense in worrying about it. Just wait and see what happens and, in an absolute worst case, you're gonna get a lot of FREE seeds! And, you never know, you may get something good!

You've already done everything you can do, which is to kill & remove the males. :goodjob:

My candy kush is in pre flower. How can I tell when they move from pre flower to flower?

You'll see the pistils starting to emerge in little puffs.
