New Moon Over Guawi: A High Brix Journey

Here is a VERY Interesting REPORT Published in "NATURE MAGAZINE"

About PLANT Light photoreceptors, Explaines WHICH SPECTRUM'S do WHAT

"Using light to improve commercial value"

"Plants perceive different wavelengths of light using distinct photoreceptors. Recent advances in LED technology now enable light quality to be manipulated at a commercial scale, and as such opportunities now exist to take advantage of plants’ developmental plasticity to enhance crop yield and quality through precise manipulation of a crops’ lighting regime

Liked your last chart better about lighting. The one that ID's flavor and diff. light spectroms.:thumb:
Oh wait...that might notta bin u G....?

Could of been, I have recently been edited ;) for posting LED links, apparently there is a lot
of problems with spamming so I understand fully

EDIT I did get prior permission for the above link :thumb:

Since this a GROW JOURNAL I should probably post some pictures of them

Also just re-checked ACE's site for any updated GROW information:green_heart:

the GROW TIP
"excellent yield in the lateral branches and its vigorous reaction to pruning."
Is NOT to be taken lightly ;)

=======================================

First is the PURPLE HAZE X MALAWI by ACE
I'M Calling it VEG day 1.

She has just begun her 5th node, not counting the Embryonic Node, which BTW is actually Branching.

Looks like She will need another DUNK in 2 days (loosing 1.9 to 2.1 oz a day in LIQUID Weight )

THINKING I will skip the 1/4 TP (clear H2O) DUNK and
do a GE Instead, I think she looks healthy enough to handle it ?

NOTE I took the pictures with the MH on so the lighter looking parts are due to shadow and lighting.
I normally take pictures UNDER the T5s before the MH comes on ;)

GAUWI Ace

She is basically at the same stage just starting the 5th node but 4 days younger.

ALSO of NOTE I have tried to get her to branch at the Embryonic Node but so far NOTHING

Just Researching my BATTLE PLAN another Weapon if needed

Night breaks
Beyond the utilization of supplemental lighting to extend day length and increase the distribution of light in the canopy, short periods of light during the night have been successfully used to manipulate plant development. In short day plants, such as Chrysanthemum and Ipomoea nil, night breaks using red light can be used to delay flowering173,174,175. Conversely, night breaks can be used to accelerate flowering in long day plants176. In tomato, red light night breaks induced a delay in flowering and decreased plant height while also improving tomato fresh weigh shortly after flowering177. These differences in flowering and plant morphology are most likely derived from activation of phytochromes (which would otherwise revert to their inactive state in the dark—see the section 'Phytochromes') and it is likely such phenomena will also be observed in other species.

Short-day (long night) plants

Short-day plants require long periods of continuous darkness to develop flowers. If these plants are installed near a motion-detector light that goes on and off during the night, they are less likely to flower. Some short-day plants include sorghum, onion, cotton, soybeans, poinsettia (10 hours), chrysanthemum (15 hours), and marijuana.

You're going to want to flip that Purple Haze x Malawi like NOW!

I hear ya

You are seeing the same warnings  I am

She is going to be a handful in my little tent. I was considering topping/fimming all
the branches to keep things slow but now think that could be a mistake, SHE LIKES IT

Want to wait for daily watering before Up-potting but not sure if thats going to be possible ?
I do have a game plan BUT IT looks like SHE DOES as well

She gets here first GE (or whatever its called now) tomorrow and that should really kick
things into gear.

I can do this :green_heart:

Nahhh, waddaya mean Neiko....
:passitleft:....:rofl::rofl:

Good morning Friend
Thanks for the confidence :green_heart:. I hope to prove it can be done but suspect it wont be easy

I probably should of Listened to Universe/GOD when the First Guawi seed failed to sprout,
the Universe was saying ONLY ONE DUM DUM

Caught up Gazoo.....looking forward to see you tame that Purple Haze x Malawi! Gonna be fun!

Awesome to have you standing by :thumb: :thanks:

A little picture update of Both the GUAWI & PHM (Purple Haze Malawi)

DBHB SHELF LIFE Confirmation
(stole this cool flashing light from one of Mr. Krip posts)

Cooked Pro-Mix = 2 Years and Counting
Liquid Products = 1 Year + and Counting

Thinking about how long it has been since I purchased any product I looked back
in DOCs thread to see when I started using it (Apr 19th 2017).

Knowing I Purchased 1 kit and then a BULK kit approx a year later, I can see now
how long its been on my shelf

At the present time I have not purchased Any PRO-MIX in 2 years
and should have enough to last another 2 at my current size grows.

I just started my 4th kit grow using the same ORIGINALLY PURCHASED Pro-Mix.

Finished 2 First run Grows and 1 Second run, Just started the 2nd SECOND run Grow.
Starting 3rd year of same Soil Use.

After the current grow finishes I still have 3rd & 4th run soil to use up
so I will update in another 2 years for a final Conclusion ;)

LIQUID PRODUCT

As to the Liquid products. As best I can remember I ran out of some of the first Kit Liquid items
after my 2nd grow (40 gals of soil) took a little over a year for both runs.

CONFIRMED CONCLUSION: Liquid products in the KIT will last Over a Year and probably much
longer.

I re stocked with larger container amounts in the 2nd year so I will be back with the
Final conclusion in 2 more years which I expect to run-out of after 3 years of shelf life.

I only do 1.5 to 2 runs a year with 2 plants per grow in 10 gal plastic.
Works out to 40 gal of soil year
