New City Grower 2.0

Hi King. My schedule has been changed for me and I was wondering... today is day 20 of flower and I know I am not supposed to do the defoliation until day 21-25 but do you think it would make a huge difference if I did it today? I am afraid if I don't that something will happen and I won't be able to get back to them until past the time and I sure don't want my fella doing the defoliation. I really like him and don't want to have to hurt him...lol... Thank you as always Sir...:adore:

Hey D.I am about to defoliate my GreenSun girl's today at 27 day's from the time the light;s were switched to 12/12.
A defoliation should be done at 21-25 from the day that you see it start to flower not from the day you switch the light's.
I usually just add a week to my flowering time.
So if I am at day 27, of 12/12,I am really only at day 20 of actual flower.
I am not sure what will happen if done early.I would imagine it would just slow down flowering for a bit.

This is the 3rd time in 24hrs I have read about defoliation between days 21-25 of actual flower....what's the purpose of this technique?

One thing I noticed about root formations.

I've examined several root balls from my plants at last harvest.

I wanted to determine a good compromise sized pot for my future grows.

Now many growers will say bigger is always better.

What I found is if you put a plant in a large pot the roots will always grow out to

the pot walls and then start circling. There will be little filling of all the available

space in between. Kinda pointless then, big pots need more grow space and more

soil/medium to fill. There doesn't appear to be a direct correlation between pot size

and yield. I got an average 1/2 oz from small plants in 0.7 ltr (just over 1 US pint)

pots. You don't get 3 oz yield from the same size plant just because you went straight

for the 4 ltr (1 US gal).

I like the sound of this! The pot uses a lot of the available height below my lights, so for me, less pot=more Pot!

Jimmy I am going to pop over to my journal. I didn't mean to post that on BARs.....:circle-of-love:
Hidden I was given those times by KJC. He defoliates 21-25 days into flower and at 45 days....:thumb:

Ah I see, This is handy info as I'm scroging and defoliation is a must and it's not something I have researched enough!

The purpose of this technique is to allow the plant to stretch normally and not slow down growth while still opening up more light to the bud sites. This allows the plants to focus on bud development and still allow a maximum amount of light to reach the buds. Usually the plants will respond with an increase in bud size as a result.

Yet another plant harvest complete! You weren't kidding about following in the footsteps of Rico's never ending harvests!

This 'criss-cross' method you were discussing seems very interesting. I only wonder how the 'twisting effect' might affect auxin distribution to those bud sites...we will see :)
