New City Grower 2.0

Actually, in Italy mostly Egyptians make pizza these days :) And it's not bad if you find one with skilled pizzaiolo. Then, I don't know how good pizza is in NYC :)

I think pizzaiolo's are few these days. I haven't had NY pizza for years and years, but I find it hard to believe it is still not the best pizza in the land. Pizza in Italia is much different. It's much better! Nothing like fresh mozzarella. I'm sorry Conradino, are you in the north or south of Italia? I think we discussed this before. My people are from Brindisi, Panni-Foggia, Roma, Prato, Firenze, Calitri, Napoli, and the beach.

I would move to Italy tomorrow if I could. Porto Fino. Of course I could only afford one room somewhere, but oooo, molto bene!

Up north :)

My fav pizza shop is Italian owned and operated. You gotta love living in NY. And I'm running NYC tap water also. I still add 5ml of calmag. But even before that I never saw any signs of deficiency.

Good to know there are still some around. Exactly where is it located?

I'm here to tell you, Pizza Hut is not pizza, nor is Dominoes.
:amen:

Sad to say GF but very few Italians actually make the pizza now a days. They teach Mexicans and just own the business. But point well taken. I saw a news story where the pizza schools in Italy now mostly teach Mexicans how to make pizza because the younger generation considers it manual labor, and it is. Case in point the pizzeria down the block from me. The owner has cameras watching workers from home and just comes to collect his money. No one in the family wants to work in the store.
LB is spot on as they say. It's not much difference though if it's a real pizza shop but now we have all these new pizza shops popping up that make this fake azz pizza. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about LB. A lot of them only charge a dollar a slice. The mozzarella doesn't even drip! If you turned it upside down you still wouldn't get any cheese drippings. It's similar to that Pizza Hut type pizza.
I guess they stay in business because there's so many people that migrate here from elsewhere that think that's pizza.

I've never been to Italy but everyone I know who's ate pizza there say it's not even the same thing we call pizza. Most of them still like real NYC pizza but say if you go to Italy you'll never look at pizza the same way again. There's a few shops in Little Italy they say makes that type of pizza but I can't see paying what they charge. If I'm spending that much I'm going to City Island for seafood.

And now for the business at hand...

NURSE BETTY (Royal Medic) Day 38

These pics were taking this morning right after feeding with SNS 604A. The droop should already be gone. I'm so impressed with this one I refuse to do anything but let her go her course. She'll be the first plant I didn't manipulate. There's not a spot or defect on her.

That's a foot & 1/4 in a little over a month from sprout.

Time to burst some bubbles....

I lived in Italy and trained in a pizzeria and various restuarants.... 75% of pizza in Italy is just as commercialized as it is here. :/
Fancy uniforms, conveyor belt ovens and the worst thing ever---Pizza Americano. Pizza with hot dogs and french fries on it.

I was in northern Italy and did train in an old school pizzeria with crust so thin it might as well be called a cracker. But those places are not the norm unfortunatley. The younger italians I met (under 40) all preferred the commercial BS pizzas with canned ingredients. Although I will say even at those places if you know what to order (salumi) you can get a good pie.

I was also severally disapointed in the smoke in italy  For some reason in my mind I figured a country with such incredible produce would have some type of weed that was fragrant and sweet beyond my wildest dreams. Nope. Regular seedy weed.

The other thing that blew my mind was all the Knock off music. American songs played by not the original bands and the locals didnt even know it wasnt the real thing. Guess they are saving monies on royalties

BTW, Hi Reg. :ciao:

BAR you hit the nail on the head. Like I tell my girlfriend nobody can sell you a pizza for 1.00 and stay in business. Garbage. Nice looking leaves BAR they are huge.

Wow Spimp! That's ridiculous. Fries & hotdog toppings, toppings from canned goods, and conveyer belt ovens; That's not Pizza Americano or at least not NYC Pizza.
What an absolutely crap day today; good for outdoor girls tho.
I hope they don't drown. If I knew it was going to be this bad I would've put them inside.

Don't do the Times Jam; Too opinionated.

It's all your fault Tamir. I think I'll stop by there & pick up a pie on my way home if it's not raining too hard by then.
