New City Grower 2.0

Time to burst some bubbles....

I lived in Italy and trained in a pizzeria and various restuarants.... 75% of pizza in Italy is just as commercialized as it is here. :/
Fancy uniforms, conveyor belt ovens and the worst thing ever---Pizza Americano. Pizza with hot dogs and french fries on it.

I was in northern Italy and did train in an old school pizzeria with crust so thin it might as well be called a cracker. But those places are not the norm unfortunatley. The younger italians I met (under 40) all preferred the commercial BS pizzas with canned ingredients. Although I will say even at those places if you know what to order (salumi) you can get a good pie.

I was also severally disapointed in the smoke in italy  For some reason in my mind I figured a country with such incredible produce would have some type of weed that was fragrant and sweet beyond my wildest dreams. Nope. Regular seedy weed.

The other thing that blew my mind was all the Knock off music. American songs played by not the original bands and the locals didnt even know it wasnt the real thing. Guess they are saving monies on royalties

BTW, Hi Reg. :ciao:

Every member of my family had a pizza oven in their homes, including my family in the cities. Italian pizza is very thin crusted, like a foccacia, but thin. It is cooked on stones in ovens which are about 500 degrees. The mozzarella is made in the other room with rennet and it melts like liquid onto the crust. Most of my family does not use tomato sauce, but makes the white pie using ricotta, also freshly made in the kitchen with some goat cheese, some basil leaves, wilted shallots and EVOO with garlic. OMG. I'm hungry now.

Speaking of pot, I am going on the third week with cloudy days. Sun peeks out much later around 1pm or so, but I am developing powdery mildew on the Crape Myrtle trees...which are very susceptible to it anyway...but it has me concerned. Just something else to obsess over I suppose.

If the cheese doesn't do this (drip) it's not real pizza!

I've never been to Italy but everyone I know who's ate pizza there say it's not even the same thing we call pizza. Most of them still like real NYC pizza but say if you go to Italy you'll never look at pizza the same way again. There's a few shops in Little Italy they say makes that type of pizza but I can't see paying what they charge. If I'm spending that much I'm going to City Island for seafood.

Hmm wondering what you call a pizza, saw it only on the moviez :bongrip:
But then there is a big difference between southern pizza and northern pizza!

SO you all can talk about pizza on a grow thread, but I post one pic of my cat in my journal and the admins delete it in 5 mins ???????

Am I the only one a little confused....

(FYI, I am trying to be humorous)

BTW Chicago deep dish is the best kind of pizza, just ask Jon Stewart :p and Pizza should always be eaten with a knife and fork LOL

(that is serious)

No man, not at all. This magazine has really weird rules which I feel have a lot to do with your export product called political correctness. Sonetimes I am not sure if I didn't break a rule or something by posting or writing something wrong... but then I don't know, I never really read them :)

I think if something deleted it's because it was reported.

In most journals I read 90% of the content is non cannabis related.

Staying on topic is important, but over policing threads would alienate writers.

Personally I think being nice trumps all.

@spimp, if one is worried about kids/LEO, then they should be posting here in first place...

Anyhow, I was being facetious people, have some fun :)

Ive been having fun for for years my friend! :high-five:
I only answered because Ive been in trouble before for pics once or twice, :) so I wanted to help the newbies who may not know. :cheer:

I was talked into paying 38$ for a large pizza once in SanFran. It came with a side of an Hour and a Half wait for a table.

The best Pizza in NY is at Regs Canna-Pizza Place. You have to walk 4 flights of stairs to get up there, than walk 6 on the way down. :yummy:

LA, there is no other place I would go other than NY! It is all there. Big world class city, big beautiful countryside, mountains, Atlantic Ocean, theater, culture, museums, parks...OMG, a cannabis retreat IN THE MIDDLE OF MANHATTAN! Holy shite man! My head just exploded.

Oh, you remember that...
