The new Cosmos series ended last night with the season finale. It is on a few other times on other channels during the week, but it was the last one. I think Neil Tyson is genuinely down to earth and has a passionate compassion for the planet and its creatures (including us). If he appears like he is talking down, so be it and like you said, maybe he is. Definitely he is talking to the dullards who do not believe the climate is changing and they deny the CO2 in the air is not at record levels and greenhouse gases are increasing...bla, bla. I also think really brilliant people are not socially graceful in most cases. It's not a flaw or shortcoming, just a matter of how his and others' minds function socially.
The episode last night ended with a really interesting computer generated version of what a city would look like if we stopped in our tracks today and went with solar and wind energy and weaned totally off fossil fuels. It would be green as all hell loaded with oxygen because we'd lower the CO2 in the atmosphere, which will cool the earth properly, and not turn into an inferno like Venus did when the same thing happened to them. Only on Venus, the atmosphere is responsible, not humanity.
He said that the sun generates enough energy in one hour to supply the entire planet with electricity, food, and water. If they build solar collectors in Saudi Arabia in the desert they can drill for water and turn the desert into a forest! Certainly, they'd be able to plant trees and other things which will help balance the CO2 and Oxygen molecules.
Sorry to go on and on here Reggie. I'm so bored and waiting for Mark to get here. I am also very dizzy since I woke up this morning. I wonder what that's about. Any ideas floating around? Any medics in here?
