New City Grower 2.0

Thanks for the share Latinb :thumb:
I read neem oil can be applied in many pests + other growers using it, I thought it´s a natural oil extract & might be safe.
So far, I only have white spots on some leafs can´t see it in the buds yet.
Yeah, Cervantes, i´ve seen all his videos and follow his chanel on youtube. Vecinos :)
I found this Forum post and started by applying the Baking Soda Solution. I defoliated most affected leafs and removed lower growth. I´m going to apply today the Alkaline water (just bought it).
So, is there anything more against using neem oil?
Theres nothing against Neem oil just not on your flowers or buds. I only use it as a preventive method while plants are in veg.

I have to chime in here a little, if that is okay? The very first thing anybody growing any plant of any kind is to properly identify what the problem is. A full knowledge of the disease or pest as well as a thorough understanding of how the particular pesticide is going to work and for what problem. In the case of Neem Oil, it is not a contact pesticide. The insect must ingest it, it messes with their ability to eat and digest and they die. If you spray them and the don't eat it, nothing happens. So, this is not necessarily for every type of insect pest.

I cannot stress enough to read the entire label of any pesticide or fertilizer regardless whether or not is is organic, certified organic, natural, or synthetic. On the label will be lists of pest insects it will work on, as well as any diseases it can help. Neem is a fungicide, but not for all fungi. And even though it is listed as safe, it is still poison to something and I wouldn't want any of it ending up inside of me. I am sure we all have a ton of toxic pesticides in our bodies just from the water or air.

Sorry I ran on and on...

I know you can't snip a piece of the plant off and bring it into a garden center for identification of the problem and remedy so it would be great if you could post photos of the plant. People here can help you with that. If you don't have a journal, feel free to post a photo on my latest journal which is linked at the bottom of this post. Organic grow.

Everyone here wants you to succeed! :)

Thank you GF,
Hope BAR doesn´t mind too :)
I understand - now that you explained - that neem is a fungicide for only some types of fungi and it´s not a contact pesticide.
I surely don´t want to ingest any more chemicals, much less smoke them. What we get on food/air/water (as you said) it´s enough. That´s exactly why I used the Baking Soda method first and just now I sprayed one with Alkaline water - sounds much more safer and since i started spaying i don´t see new spots.
I removed affected leaves before taking pics but if i get to see it spreading I will surely take pics and contact you.
:thanks:

Excellent! I use the baking soda mixture on roses when they have black spot. It does change the pH of the leaf surface, making it hostile to that particular fungal disease. I just want people to be safe. You did the right thing. BTW, I wash my buds and they come out so immaculate and smoke beautifully. The pot I washed is fantastic and cured even better than the same strain not washed. It's more mellow smoke, too. Check into that for sure. I will always wash now especially since I grow outside this summer.

Hi BAR,

I need some advice (again)
Hello Fox. I see you're already in good hands here.

it would be great if you could post photos of the plant. People here can help you with that. If you don't have a journal, feel free to post a photo on my latest journal which is linked at the bottom of this post. Organic grow.

Brooklyn, he/she has a journal, a pretty nice one going I might add but Fox could use a few subscribers. And Fox, as I told you before; you can post anything here. My threads or should I say the threads I start are open threads and belong to everyone who has grow questions or input. There's nothing better to me than missing a day or two & then logging in to find an abundance of info's been posted here.

And while we're on the subject of helping one another I noticed this morning one of the Fire Escape girls is looking a bit weird.

KERALA X SKUNK #1
(Regular) Day 24

She was the one that was tap-rooted, germinated, & feed with nothing but Willow Water until she was transplanted. Then she was moved outside and since has had nothing but rain water. The soil never completely dries before it rains again so I haven't had to physically water them yet. This morning I noticed she had a few even numbered fingered leafs and the new growth on the top is very wrinkled. Her fire escape roommate,
"Pepé Le Pew (Skunk)" has been living under the same exact conditions but is the picture of health.

It may be nothing but I just wanted a few of you experts opinion.

That's probably nothing BAR, but I grew the same strain last year outdoor and got a really shitty pheno. Bottom line, Kerala Krush is unstable and very sensitive to high RH. My report is here: Kerala Krush - Outdoor Grown

:thankyou:C

I also see nothing but a healthy looking girl :)
Have a wonderful day in the city Reg,,,,I would love to visit the Big Apple :circle-of-love:it would be made even sweeter if there were more folks growing on the fire escapes,,,they used to do it like that in Holland 70s an 80s Keeping life Green:thumb:

Looks okay to me too, but I would say that even though it rains you still need to check the plant soil for moisture. It can pour here and the containers can get very little to no water, depending. It would be great if you could put a pot out there (pun intended!) to collect the water when it rains. Then use that to water the plant directly.

Thanxx Brooklyn. The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is check the fire escape girls, even before I brush my teeth. :yummy:

Thanxx a million to you all. I really wasn't worried about it too much, just thought I'd put that out there. Most of you witnessed what happened with my current round inside the Bloom tent. It came from ignoring what I thought was nothing at the beginning of the issue. Now I'm on some ole "better safe than sorry" attitude.

Welcome aboard Harley. We've been keeping the same company for a long time and as of today we're both officially watching each other. Also as a fall out from The Reps Are Right there's still plenty of members that post good questions here looking for help and/or guidance. Someone like yourself could be a be a great benifit here. It's not just my grow, this thread remains an open forum.
