N420 Grows Barney's Farm Orange Sherbert & Special Guests

I'm just looking for recommendations as to what everyone's experience is with what you do other then using a flushing agent like I have on my last grow. I used flawless finish and it claims to clear the plant of excess impurities without starving the plant.

Really I'm trying to get smooth smoking weed that tastes good and getting the best yield I can

Gz update

Well what a few days away does for surprising me with growth. Things have really picked up in the tent they are pushing out their first set of 5 finger leaves and all seem to be growing at the same pace except for one that has been the biggest from the very start. Nice short fat indica leaves and the cotyledons are starting to yellow on one of the plants so I will probably give them a light veg feed on my next watering. The trips seem to be knocked back a little but will still continue spraying as they are scheduled for another spray today. I bumped up the dimmer on the light last night and kept the light at 24 inches from the plant they all seem to be responding well this morning so may bump it up again today.

There are two issues at play, and the back of the bottle has some bro-science on it about taste, aroma, and smoothness.

The first is that clearing old salts from the soil about three weeks from your expected harvest date is a good thing. 2-3x the pot size with tap water followed by your standard nute feeding is the way to do that. No product needed. Then continue feeding on your regular schedule.

The second thing is that no amount of clearing the soil, whether with plain water or some fancy product, will make your harvest taste better, smell better, or smoke smoother. That's what we call bro-science. Regardless of what's on the bottle and in the canna-mythology, it is not possible to "flush" anything out of your buds. They are sinks and only take up nutrients...they don't give them back. The way to get the best taste, smell, and smoke from your harvest is the correct dry and cure.

Thanks for the explanation shed.
What you said makes alot of sense and it's something I'm going to try I just gave them a plain watering last night as I like to do every 3rd watering. Will give them another plain water when they are dry then continue with my regular feed until harvest.

Just placed my first order with true north seed bank.
I'm curious to see how it turns out they don't take credit card but was able to send an e-transfer and it went smoothly got an email confirmation they got the funds so hopefully I will get a shipping notification soon. If anyone is interested they have a 20 %discount for 420 mag members it's 4M20

When you do your plain watering, be sure there is a healthy amount of runoff to insure the old ions are cleared from the soil. Every 4th watering is actually recommended.
I will make sure I get a good amount of run off next time.
Is there a reason behind the 4th watering thing

Os Update

Hey everyone back from the camping trip it was alot of fun. the weather was the hottest it's been so far this year there was a river that ran through the campsite so it was perfect for a quick dip to get cooled off .Smoked plenty of weed of course drank plenty of beer and had a chance to catch up with some family that I have not seen in a year so all in all it was a great time.

As far as the plants are concerned it a good news bad news situation. The good news is they look fantastic the buds are swelling more and more each day and are getting super frosty. Some of the snaller side branches are getting weighted down by their buds but I have just been propping them up against some of the bigger branches which is working fine at the moment.

wow look at those ladies now. Bet you missed them N?. Glad you had the weather and scenery for a great time. Looks like your going to need the break before you start "Bringing in the weed ,
Bringing in the weed ,
N420 will come rejoicing , Bringing in the weed.". lol. welcome home mate

The bad news is I found a bit of bud rot on one of the buds :(
I noticed some odd growth on the bud and some of the leaves had an brownish color. When I pulled on the brown leaves they pulled right off really easily. I quickly grabbed my scissors and cut the bud off the plant.

After I removed it I gave my hands a good wash and carefully checked the rest of the plants and did not see any other signs of it so I really hope they can hang on until I harvest so it doesn't spread any further.

I checked them with my loupe tonight and I saw mostly cloudy and clear I was hoping to get some amber but this situation may force me to harvest early.
Product called "silver bullet " foliar spray available in uk that will kill the spore dead and not harm the bud. It is used to treat drinking water too when needed to sterilize. good catch before it got more mate

Heya N, the life of a grower eh, always something. Good to see ya handle it well.

Os update

I started my first foray into the #no flush club. I ran a good amount of plain ph'd water to the 2 plants that were due for a watering. Got a good amount of run off that basically filled my saucers with water that are about 2 inches deep so I felt pretty confident I ran enough thought them. At the next watering will be going back to feeding .

I raised my cmh as high as I could get it before I went away trying to minimize the canoe shape leaves the one plant was showing. After coming home the leaves were still being effected so on shed's advice I installed a window screen under the light tonight to try to cut down on the light intensity the plant is getting.

Not sure if it's related but the plant that was showing the light stress has really packed on alot of frost on the top of the buds closest to the light. I have heard that a stressed plant will produce more thricomes to protect itself not sure if there is any truth to that but I will happily take more frost lol.

Couple of before lights on bud shots because hey why not lol.

Gz update
Not a whole lot new with these girls. I bumped the light up a little more tonight left it the same height they don't seem to have any trouble handling the light but the plan is slow and steady. Judging by how many leaves they have I think I will be transplanting on the weekend I watered the biggest plant tonight and will keep a close eye on how long it takes to dry out.
One of the plants is showing what prof described as a scrotum look lol not sure if it's anything to worry about.

The soap spray has been quite effective not really seeing alot new thrip damage so I'm quite pleased with that.

Had a Quick thought this morning. When I go to feed the Gz should I add cal mag to the mix even though I'm not seeing any deficiency? My understanding is plants require more cal mag under led? Was thinking about just using it from start to harvest as a preventative thing.
