I think autos do much better in tents than outside, in my experience anyway!

I'll probably do a similar thing if I do defoil. Quadline is something I have never tried I usually do lst for my training but the quadline has always intrigued me may have to give it a shot on one of my next runs.

Ya I think I will get alot better quality growing the auto's indoors .I got another tent for Christmas so now I should have more room to runs plants indoors I just have to rearrange my garage to make room for the new tent
That's a project definitely worth doing! Big payoff a few months down the line, which is way better than just the satisfaction of having cleaned up the garage

Interestingly. I've only nearly grown an auto outside. But what I did grow had really good growth and was larger than any auto I had previously grown indoors. I put this down to having unlimited root space. The stem and leaves were really big and healthy. Nature killed it though as I had only done it as an experiment with a spare seed I had left over. To be honest it was probably for the best as it really started to smell after a while.
I've grown a few big ones outside, but most seem very temperamental about changes to the environment they're growing in. I have large temp and RH swings from day to night (summer in particular) and they don't seem fond.

I know quading is all the rage. I tried it once. Meh, and that was with a photo. I'd be scared to death to do it on an auto. That much hacking when you have limited veg time? I know there are people that do it, but I'll stick with a simple top and bowl train.

I pretty excited about it. I'm just waiting for the Gz to be harvested which should be in the next week. The new tent is a 4x8 it will be nice to have the extra room and really looking forward to what I'll be able to grow in it.That's a project definitely worth doing! That's kinda been my thought with quadline training and why I haven't tried it yet. I always thought you could get the same kinda structure with lst without having to cut off nodes and leaves early in veg.
Sure you're not thinking of a mainline? With a quadline, it's only a 1-time top, then all LST from there. It does help to trim it in certain spots, but one spot spot is a maintenance trim of nodes growing from the bottom, that wouldn't grow for shit to begin with. The other are the fan leaves that are facing backwards.
Using it on an auto isn't always a given. It has to be growing strong and be to the 5th node within 21 days. If those conditions are true, they don't tend to skip a beat at all.
I have to disagree that lower branches don't produce anything worthwhile. A well-trained auto can produce a lot of bud from lower branches.

As you train the main growth flat, new nodes still alternate. One set ends up horizontal, the alternating one is vertical. The one growing down from there gets the chop.

In LST there aren't any that are facing the soil like in a quad.
I do as little cutting to an auto as possible as it grows. And if you look at the branch coming off the bottom at 7:00 and 3:00, you can see the nugs on what would be removed from a quad. They were nice and solid and definitely worth keeping.
At least the instructions in the Quad thread had you top and remove nodes 1 & 2, leaving 4 main branches, hence the term quad. I felt I got better yields having 8 mains spread out rather than 4. To each their own. I can say I tried it at least.
Absolutely. On a photo a main is the way to go if you can afford the slightly longer veg time. Nice to have the quad option on an auto though.

I'm still partial to lst training like @farside05 said you can end up with 8 mains rather then 4. For me I've been able to achieve at least 4 mains with lst and a bunch of secondarys that make it to the top of the canopy that produce some really nice buds. I usually do a good lollipop about a week or 2 before I flip ( I have no auto experience yet ) then again after the stretch if there are any branches to small to produce anything.

Update on the Dwc girls tonight. They have put on a ton of growth over the last week and are definitely ready to be topped which I will probably do tomorrow. Once they have grown some good size branches out of the topping site I'm going to start a bit of lst on them.
They are pushing out some huge fan leaves that are bigger then my hand and I'm not a small guy at 6'3 the main stem is quite thick as well. They have alot of side branching happening so I think the topping will do them alot of good to get those branches more developed and at the top of the canopy. Overall these girls are doing fantastic and I'm really impressed every time I look in the tent.

I tend to do very little defoliation until after they stretch with autos. I'll clean up the bottoms for airflow and ease if watering. My plants, both autos and photos, tend to have very little stretch because I hit them with light pretty hard quite early. It can make watering a bit of a challenge if I don't take off some if those lower fans.

Cannot sing the praises of the Bluedreamatic enough matey. they are huge and happy growers. Farside05 is a bluedream pro and worth seeing his grows of them. .looks like mrs has done you well mate. Mrs Gg got me an oculus quest so now I don't even need to bebin the same room if she gets pissed at me ever.lol ( not that that is possible as I am a perfect hubby !). slowly catching up here mate . sorry for the neglect brother. looking forward to the next pages now.
