My Very First Grow Journal: BC Big Bud Grown Indoors In Soil

Awesome. Very neat looking set up. I really like the bank of fans.
You're going to be able to grow some real monsters in there.
I’m really happy with the setup. That fan was just something I had laying around that we use in the summer. Glad it came in handy here lol. I’m expecting big things out of this setup now

Things are looking good in the tent so far. The tao demon which is the biggest one is bulking up nicely. Still plenty of time to go before the big finish but new setup is killing it. Got my veg tent set up now as well with a few more babies planted. A few og kush CBD plants, one og kush, 3 auto speed buds. Will be able to split them up when the plants are done in the flower tent and flower a couple of them in the veg tent and the rest in the bigger flower tent. Finally feel like I’m starting to get things figured out a bit here. Anyway here’s a few pics and more to come later!

Looking proper! :headbanger:
The one is really fattening up. The others in the flower tent had a rough life growing up lol. They were all very cramped in the box I had set up. They don’t look the healthiest but they’ll produce something anyway and now that the grow is dialled in it should be smooth sailing from here on out. I also added some advanced nutrients Nirvana in to the line up for the flowering tents food. Seems to have pretty good reviews so I figured I’d give it a shot and see what it does.

Reviews are one thing, actions first hand are another! I’m sure it will be a great addition, but you truly won’t know until you see how your plants react to it! :yahoo: They really are looking good!!:thumb:

Yeah true that! I’ll know in a few weeks I guess how well it actually works. For $30 it was worth a shot. And thanks a lot man. I’m actually feeling proud of how decent they’re doing now

Nugs are really fattening up on this girl and she’s still got a ways to go. Hoping she frosts you some more now though. I’m not proud to say but I’m also proud at the same time to say that this plant has roots that are bigger than the stems of some of my previous plants lol. Anywho here’s a couple photos of some of her buds next to a sharpie for comparison and also the stem and a few roots I exposed but recovered lol

You absolutely should be! :high-five:

Great photos! Keep in mind that roots aren’t that fond of light all that much, and can be devastating if they dry out on you. Try and keep your roots covered up with substrate as much as you can!

Anyone have any thoughts on removing the glass from an air cooled hood to let more UV light through? Is it worth taking the glass out or would the extra heat not be worth the hassle?
I have never even considered it! If you do, do it, I’d love to know any findings about it! :thumb:

Roots are always under the medium I just brushed it aside for that pic to show how big those ones were lol. And I’ve been reading a lot of stuff on removing the glass to allow more lumens through. Some people say that you lose upwards of 10% of your lumens with the glass on and more if the glass is dirty. I’m not sure how much heat I would have to deal with removing the glass. I’d still have the duct hooked up to the hood and the fan I have is 460cfm so I imagine it would suck most of the heat out still. Maybe I’ll give it a shot and see how it goes. Was just hoping someone else had more experience with it than I do lol. And again as always thanks a lot @Backlipslide always appreciate your insight and knowledge

That’s very interesting, and it actually makes sense too! Let me know about that heat! I’m sure it wouldn’t change much! :smokin2::passitleft:
I haven’t tried it yet lol. Been very busy. Looks like I’m going to be trying my hand at a DWC setup. Off to a good start so far. Hopefully it continues going smoothly lol.

I don’t know much about DWC, but I do know, she looks happy! :thumb:
I don’t know anything about it either but I watched some videos and I’m gonna learn lol. Had a major fuck up in the flower tent. Completely my fault. I should’ve known better. I had two photoperiods in there and the rest autos so when the photos were finished and harvested I switched the light back to 18/6 for the autos and I definitely fucked then up. All of them hermied except one. So they were all harvested and hung before they pollinated themselves and now I have tons of free space in the flower tent. Live and learn lol

Yes that is the census around here. Flushing doesn’t remove the nutrient flavour from the buds at all. What it does, is removes any salt build up around the roots, allowing them to suck up the needed nutrients. The only real time a person needs to flush is when your having a lockout of any certain nutrient, situation happening. Now for flushing for end of flower. You can run water through the plant (flushing her) but right away after hit them with nutrients. So you avoid starving the plant for nutrients. :thumb:

I must say I am really digging this DWC setup. This plant was first planted in soil Jan 21. I put it in the DWC setup on Friday the 31st.

Here it is on the 31st. Now just 6 days later it looks like this.

To me that’s a big improvement. It’s already got quite a few roots poking out of the net pot and down in to the nute mix. I’m blown away. It wasn’t too hard to figure out even for a noobie. Took a few days to get the PH to stabilize but it’s been smooth sailing since. I’m thinking of running a full DWC setup next run. I’ll be picking up the supplies for it this weekend and giving it a go. Hoping it stays this easy!
