My Very First Grow Journal: BC Big Bud Grown Indoors In Soil

It’s been awhile since I posted. Been busy as shit with work and the family. I’ve done a lot since my last update. I defol’d a bit and topped the plants (turns out I didn’t get autoflower seeds just feminized). I also transferred the plants in to different medium without the dolomite. They look healthy for the most part now and the roots have developed a lot by the look of things. They’re growing out the bottom of the 5 gal pots. Should probably look for larger pots I’m thinking. They are now in root farm hydro potting mix. Here’s a pic of two of them the other two were just transferred and are a bit wobbly yet so I didn’t want to move them too much. One quick question if anyone can help me out. When do you know when the plants are ready to be flipped to 12/12? They’ve been popped out of soil for 31 days now.

Well day 5 of flower. I think the plants look pretty good but I’m not experienced enough to make that all. Hoping for the best though! Also started 4 Tao demon autoflowering seeds. Hoping all goes well

You can flip your photos to 12/12 whenever you want, just make sure you have plenty of head space because some strains double, even triple in size after flipping the light schedule... on a side note, you really don’t want to put autos on a 12/12 schedule. Autoflowers do best if you keep them on a 18/6 light schedule.

Some like em thick and curvy and other like em thin. Trying all kinds of things since this is my first grow. Seeing what things help and what things set you back. Better to learn the hard way I guess. Still having a blast trying

There looking good and your going great... no better way to learn then from your own mistakes. Another rule of thumb though for defoliation is that you want to do the thinning out before you switch to flower that way when you switch to flower the plant can focus totally on bud production instead it has to heal itself from the trauma of leaf damage... a few leafs here n there is no big deal but a big thinning out is best done before the flip... otherwise they look great, and those bud sites are developing nicely! :bongrip:

Lol so I bought two different types of seeds from two different seed banks. I thought they were all autoflowers but the ones flowering right now are photoperiods. Rookie mistake I know. And ya I know now not to do much defoliation during flower. But I guess for my first run I’m doing not too bad. Going to take some pics and do an update here shortly!

Okay here we go. About 32 is days in to flowering now. Pics of plants and budsites respectively. These are all the bc big bud strain. I’ve been weighing the pots to figure out when to water/feed. It’s been every 3 ish days. Wishing I would have used larger pots but my next run will be better. I have 1 gal 3 gal and 5 gal fabric pots to run them in. I have learned so much already from mistakes I have made and I am going to be going in to my second grow with a lot more confidence by the time I finish this one. Now for the pics.

You can see one is clearly a lot taller than the others and one of the smaller ones has the most buds so far

So I’m gonna admit I made a lot of mistakes with this run. It was my very first ever run though and I think I learned a lot. I know it’s not over yet but I’m not expecting the best yields off these plants. I never really ready about defoliation and I defoliated more times than I’d like to admit during flowering and I think that really stunted these plants. Lesson learned. But anyway I’m hoping that I’ll still get a few good grams off these plants. That plus the knowledge I’ve gained from my mistakes and from every single person that gave input and advice makes me really confident on my next run.

Well I cut down one of the plants. It wasn’t progressing at all anymore and there were a good amount of ambers once I looked through a microscope. Freed up some room in the flowering tent for one of my Tao autos I had. It seems to be doing a lot better than the first plants I ran. Looks a lot beefier already anyway. The stalk of it is already twice the size of the plant I just cut down. I threw a 600 watt HPS light in the flowering tent until my quantum board comes in. Hard to control the heat with that sucker running but I got it figured out now. Couple pics one of the plant I cut down and one of the tent set up before I cut it down. Other than that there’s not much to write home about at the moment. Hoping this light works better than the cheap leds I had and that the quantum board comes in soon.

Lessons learned is never a bad thing.

Should harvest enough to make it worth the effort. Next round should be a bit better without the dolomite. Lots of high powered help on the forum. Cheers

should be an alright amount for my first plant. I made a lot of mistakes. Not vegging long enough, didn’t use proper nutes during veg, the dolomite, too much defoliating And so on. I learned from the mistakes and I have more confidence in the next plants moving in to the tent. Thanks to learning from the mistakes and all the great advice I’ve got from people on here. Hot high expectations for the next run!

Those spots look a little like calcium deficiency.

The second photo the edges and tips looks like a little like nutrient burn but fairly light and could be a normal response from the plant at that stage of flower to that nutrient.

But. I am still very much a noob and wouldn't bet my life on my observations.

Hey man! I’m in! :ciao:

I will be back to catch up with your journal, and follow along! I’m always willing to help anybody, especially a fellow Albertan!:yahoo:
Hey thanks man. I’m very much a noobie at this and am still trying to figure everything out and dial everything in but with everyone’s help around here I’m confident I will get there!
