My new grow space

That's what I had originally thought......flip this weekend for the rest...what do you think Penny, flip my 2 ATFs to determine sex, take cuttings off the female for clones ( fingers crossed) and reveg the adult then? I don't need to reveg the adult, just need that female to start my perpetual.

Guy, the plant will generally show pre-flower signs at about day 30 or so. If you have a loupe of some sort, you can start looking around nodes as they mature and you will either see the hair or the ball sack. Its really not terribly hard brother.

I wouldn't go the route you talked about.....putting plant in flower, sex it, then re-veg it. Thats a lot of unnecessary stress on the plant. The ATFs were very easy to sex so you should be able to tell relatively easily based on pre-flower. If you feel you need to flower something to make sure, I would flower a clone. Will take you about 10-14 days to root it, transplant it....give it a couple days and flip. You could have the answer to your question in roughly 25 days. But again, the plants will show you what they are generally. Hell wait long enough and you can generally see it with the naked eye.

For sure. Just fingers crossed I've got one. I'm not advanced enough yet to know exactly how/What to do with a male. Although I did follow Stanks journal quite closely. If needed, I do have my old veg cabinet in the house that I could grow out a male in. Does the male stink the same as a female?

Because I LST so aggressively, I find it hard to find feasable spots for cuttings. Trying to spread out as much as possible before flip. Yesterday I thought I had left a massive hole in my one girl, today it wasn't noticeable at all.

I think ill do just that then. Root my clones, grow them out and keep the ATF hen as a mother. Once the cuttings are showing roots, is it best to transfer them to a jiffy or? Yesterday I thought of another great cloning idea, for lots.....but this little tote seems great for 6 at a time.

The males will not smell as much as a female in flower. There are a lot of ways you can handle having a male around. You can put in a separate room or tent and harvest the pollen and direct pollinate any desired females. Or you can pollinate the natural way.....and you have a few options for that. Simplest is put the male and female in the tent with a fan and let nature do its thing. Thats what I did and I got about 3000 seeds that way off a smaller plant. If you want to do multiple crosses, put the male in the middle and surround him with the wenches.

I have heard of others keeping the female away from the male until the desired time. In an area away from the other females you simply set your female down and shake the branches of the male over the female and you are done. Give the girl a couple hours or even a day in solitude and then spray her really well with a water mister and you can put her back with your other girls.

If you find a nice male, you can keep him around and just flower out a clone if and when you need pollen. Or you take two clones from the male, flower the dad out for pollen and preserve the genetics by downsizing to the clone for a while again. It really depends on what you are comfortable doing in your available space.

Hi Van - how do you collect pollen, store it and how long can you store it? Thanks.

Okay so clearly the air stone was not big enough..... Causing the premature wilting and possible death of at least two
I'm thinking that it was more the lack of a humidity dome that caused the wilting. Get something clear over those clones to keep the humidity up around 70-80% or you'll loose the rest of them too.

I would agree with Rider on this. Lack of humidity is what generally causes the massive wilting on clones.

I had a clone sit in a glass of water for over a month and it never wilted. I had no air stone in there. It never rooted.....but it also never wilted.

Let me see if I have any older pics......easier to post pics than try to describe it completely.

Ok, so I recommend getting a mirror, maybe 10"x18" or even a little bigger. The males will start developing A LOT of pollen sacs. Some people collect unopened sacs and run them across a screen of some sort and all the pollen will fall through and keep the little flowers out of the mix. But I am lazy so I like using the mirror. I wait until I see signs that the first pollen sacs have started to pop. You will see signs of it on your leaves.

So now at this point, I will gently bend a branch over and I have Ms Stank hold the mirror underneath the branch and I tap the branch enough that any pollen sacs that have popped will fall onto the mirror. Do that with all the branches that show signs of pollen sacs that burst.

When I have collected all the mature pollen, I get a credit card or something of that sort and I collect it.

From there, you can store by itself if you want, but i like to cut it a little with flour and put a bit of rice in the vial to absorb any moisture that might destroy the pollen. Water and moisture will make pollen useless. I like to store my pollen in vials like this and then I keep them in a jar in the freezer. I put some rice inside the jar as well.

I had a male that was a monster. I didn't want to flower the whole male out so I took a clone from him (actually 2 just to be sure) and once I saw roots on the clones I cut the male down and flowered out the smaller clone of the male. The small plant produced about 9 vials of pollen like you see above.....which is a lot! That doesn't include the pollen that direct pollinated my ATF plant. You don't need much. Hope that helps. Keep in mind there are about a 100 different ways you can collect pollen, but thats my lazy way.

Now one warning....and I caution you to take this to heart. If you collect pollen......take your clothes off as soon as you are done and wash them. I recommend taking a shower as well. Just a little stray pollen on your clothes can produce HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS of seeds. It really doesn't take much. Water is your friend in combating unwanted pollination.

Thanks brother....great to include that in my thread. I had some upcoming seed questions that inevitably just got answered lol.

What's this Van? Eeeeek! Lookin an awful lot like a male there!

I'm sure it was too. Although when I removed the lid, 4 of them had the cloning solution washed off and 2 were still dry. The airstone has helped and I've added a dome to keep you two happy lol. All be it makeshift...not too shabby!

tough to tell without being able to zoom in brother. Definitely doesn't look female, but sometimes the hair will pop out a couple days later. I would hold off for now. If it doesn't change, its probably a dude.

I'm thinking s/he's got a home regardless. I've still got what used to be my veg area inside the house inside a wall cabinet. Nothing has been removed other than my fan. All I have to do is plug it back in, the charcoal filter is still hanging in there just in case.

Any ideas guys? It's not strain dependent, it's on three of my different strains all in the same tray. ... I did just water with the ACT. Other then that, just water and these guys have just been moved into the flower room within the past week... Could it be temperature related?

Almost looks like you spilled something on it ?

Not too sure man magnesium maybe or sulphur ?

Could be Joe. Although Calcium and magnesium can both be deficient in cannabis they are both hard to overdose on. Maybe give them a shot of each. It certainly shouldn't hurt anything.

Agree. Well said man .

Hmmm....somehow My PH was up to 7.1 in my water pail. That might explain it too. Shot of CalMag at next water too then. Bobrown14 had mentioned the kelpxEWC tea to help with deficiencies....so I tried it but these guys might have been fighting an interior battle if my PH was screwed up to start with......thanks everyone!
