So I just had a buddy over, KCCO77 as you all know him. I have to say, that even though he had to cut down his grow just over a week ago due to electrical fluctuations in his home, he did have some suggestions for my grow.
His overall synopsis was that my plants which have been vegging for almost 60 days, should be much larger. I have the opportunity to put a 1000 watt HPS in my 5x5 flower room on lend from him for two months until he needs it again, or should I bite the bullet and invest in my future plan of LED strips and be done with it? Ultimately, I need to build an L-shaped flower light that is 5' in each Direction by 24- 30" wide. Rider, if you're reading along.....can you PM me?

Hey guy!
Just wanted to say that this is my first time reading all 98 pages of a journal and from the building of your new grow room to all your babies this journal is just amazing! (I just could not stop reading)
I have been working in Construction for more than 7 years now(from carpenter to renovation) and I can say Congratulations on you new grow room, it's just amazing!
Love all the stains variation,the main goal and all the hard work you are putting into this babies! I'm looking forward to continue this journey with you and the supporters you have!
And I'm really sorry to hear about Z, I know exactly the feeling from learning a news like that... But I just wanted to say that there is always hope! and we need to be there for them, My mother was diagnose with a really bad one back in 2005 but with prayers, a lot of support and hard work today 12 years later she is well and cancer free! I will pray for her and I send her good and positive energy, and I know your hard work will pay off and help her big time, and with the support and help from this amazing community you will be able to do the best medicine ever!
I will follow this journal like if it was my own!

That's pretty awesome of you to say about my friend. Thank you for the encouraging words, I'll make sure I pass them on when I see Z next. Congratulations to your mom and her ongoing ability to deek the badness. Cancer doesn't seem to care does it...
Yeah I'm pretty happy with the space. I had a friend over this morning who kinda poo pooed how big my girls are at 50 days or So, but it's all good. I'm taking it as constructive criticism and seeing how I can grow my experience level from his comments. He offered up his 1000w HPS system for me to try for 60 days (essentially my flower), not sure why I'm hesitating but if really like to see how they do under LEDs this 1st run I think.

I'm LOVING the Crown Royales odour......Mmmm! I run my hands across them just to release it into the air lol.
I use 2"neoprene inserts from Dewey misters

Well I don't know as much as you do about growing (yet
) but what I have read out there is that LED is better than normal old light systems(especially in term of production and last result, don't know if that's true but anyway) , and I would just say go with your feeling man, and it's not like this is your last try And thank you about my mom

I know! imagine wen it's curing! I had a friend who grow and he got some nice Crown Royal curing and he made me smell(holly mother of god
it smelled so good) My Cali OG kush is the same, she have been growing OUTSIDE in my back yard and wen you get to around 5 feet from it you can smell it
I might send you a seed or 2 wen I get back to Canada so you can try it out

HPS will normally out yield led but I find higher quality with leds. Quality is what we're after .
Haven't gotten further than this so I'm sure the promblem has been fixed/figured out but as soon as I saw the pic I wanted to pH fluctuation.
I love how they smell to. It's unique, I was just smelling mine last night thinking crown is the best smelling one I've grown.

Still new at growing but in all my weed smocking, indeed it is the best smell I have seen, and a awesome and unique taste to it

Fuck man.....it hurt all of my 7 new girls.....luckily not irreparable!
My own fault really. I mixed up some ACT using my 6.5 PH water. 1/2 C of EWC and 1/2 C of Kelp meal......bubbled for 24 hours, divided 1 L between my girls. It wasn't my "house" water at 7.1 that harmed them, it was my Tea at PH 8.4. I had no idea to recheck my PH when adding naturals to my water......COMPLETELY MY OWN FAULT! Still getting used to Bringing new pails of water out from the house at cetera, I'll get my system down. Soon enough.
Shop, your girls get pretty huge under LEDs. Why aren't mine larger? I'm using Dutch Nutrient Formula at full strength, added CalMag. Just thought my girls Would be larger diameter after 50 day veg. Regardless, all 5 get flipped today.
I have the opportunity to buy a 1000w HPS, epoxy filled ballast and reflector for $75. Might do just that......just in case.....in case it's light or heat related.

Glad you figured the pH out.
From what I've seen on here and Google, people with roughly the same setup as me are pulling average 3-3.5oz per plant sometimes 5-6. Normally I will veg anywhere from 4-6 weeks. This is when I'll get 3oz a plant. The only time I veg longer 2.5 months maybe 3 is if I have a mother. When I flower her after 2.5-3 months I'll get the 5-6oz. Obviously this is a much larger more mature plant. I want to be able to do that Everytime but right now I do not have the room or schedule.
As far as size of plants and where they should be it's hard for me to judge through a picture, but I say if your pulling average is what others get they must be ok. Also I know you and how you can't keep your hands off her so maybe the extra training is keeping her smaller but she still pack a nice haul.
When it comes to hps, I'm in the LEDs pretty much for the lower electric bill, less exhaust fans and heat problems. Like pennywise said we're in it for the quality. If I read correctly you plan on taking plants every 10 to 14 days, that should be a nice pile stacking up.

For sure Penny, but size.....my buds plants are (or were ) same age as mine and 2 - 2.5 x the size of my girls. Shops right, I'm heavily into the touchy feely and training etc, but is LED even coming close? I spent over $800 on 2 mid grade American lights. I could have built a killer strip light for that, or bought 4 HPS systems lol......
I guess his comments just hurt my feelings LOL.
