My new grow space

For sure. Do you ever run across calcium deficiency in DWC? How do you treat it? I give dolomitic lime to my soil every 3 watering.... but it's granular.

I've used dolomitic lime to correct Cal Mag issues in the past, sounds like your cal-mag is a liquid though? That would make things so much easier. Looks like a trip to the hydro store is in order.

I definitely prefer to treat any deficiencies with liquid Cal-Mag than trying to make the adjustments to the soil. Much easier and much more forgiving in my opinion. That being said, keep track of any deficiencies that you note in your soil and make adjustments to the remainder of your soil so future grow won't suffer. The longer any adjustments have to break down in the soil, the better.

WoW guy, Its looking amazing in the new room! That ugly duck turned around perfectly lol!

Have a great day Bud :)
Thanks NS. Super happy with the setup. Everything's within easy reach. I'll have storage for everything shortly.....just need a hand with the metal wall cabinet for my nute storage etc.....

Got a bit of a deficiency showing up in my DWC. Looks suspiciously like a CalMag issue. I have no liquid on hand, gotta hit the shop......what do you guys think?

Night all!

Looking good, boss. I like the looks of them. You're going have a wicked harvest this time around.
You know what's in +/- 4 months right......cant wait to share some with my buds!

I'd like to have my 1st 4 veg for another 2 weeks, so along with some decent exfoliation over the next 14 days, what can you guys recommend as an additive to my nutrients, to get these girls as massive as possible over the next 14 days. I haven't had the time to take a day and commit to the 6 hr round trip for my base soil......yet......but I have a pile of natural additives I can add to my soil or by foliar spray.

Also, my buddy KCCO77s theory holds true......the light hasn't been turned off in my DWC room since I turned power on. Veg seems to be good with 24 hrs of light. Anyone see an issue with that.....long term that we haven't thought about? Honestly unless theirs a heater in there too, I'd be afraid of night time temps in winter. I like a cooler end to flower, just not a cold start to life lol.

You know brother, this is the only time that I have ever fired up and hid or HPS bulb..... I'm doing it strictly for the advantages of the heat in my outdoor grow space. I'm entirely LED in my flower room..... Although I may end up having to remove the HID bulb and replacing it with an HPS and moving it into flower. That is, if this issue with burnt leaves persists. As I stated yesterday, the burnt Leaf seems to be a bit of a mystery at this point, seeing as yesterday when I checked, the plant was taller and closer to the bulb..... And no issues were observed. It could have to do with my increase in fan speed in order to cool the space a little more; not sure? Regardless, I have to more options for LEDs in my Arsenal before I have to purchase anything lol. Speaking of other lights..... Did you build your Cobb system?

Bought my COBs from Timber Grow Lights.. was cheaper (with discount) than it would have been for me to build it myself. That and I'd probably still be building them

The COBs already paid for themselves.

I first tried the LED panels that are all the rage lately. I got turned off by them when the lamp stopped working and no reply back from the manufacturer. I still have the fixture so thinking about a retro fit and trying the panels again. I'm pretty handy with a solder station.

Makes sense to use HID for a heat source. IF you need heat may as well get some light from it at the same time. Not much different between a 600w HID and a 750w heater.

Your plants are getting bigger... looking good. I like my VEG plants to stretch a little bit and get some spacing then later in flower those spaces fill in. You will get a bigger final yield with taller plants.

Hey Guy.... switch to using Gypsum INSTEAD of Dolomite lime. Here's why. Dolomite Lime has a 2:1 Ca to Mg ratio. There is not such thing as a magnesium deficiency - that's bunch of non-science huey.

What happens with a 2:1 Ca to Mg ratio is this. The plant in a container will use up the Ca MUCH MUCH faster than the Mg - in fact there's already enough Mg in your soil and why I suggest to use Gypsum (Calcium Sulfate CaSO4 - sulfur is an important micro nutrient usually its sulfur that is a deficiency not Mg).

So the plant uses up much of the Ca and now there's too much Mg in the soil and this causes an Mg toxicity. Which looks a lot like Ca deficiency so then we go to calmag or what ever and we make things worse.

Now that said...adding in Ca as an amendment... during the grow, it's NOT going to help the plant, all it will do is change the PH enough to hurt the plant. IF you perceive your plant has a deficiency get some kelp meal and throw a 1/2 cup into a bucket of filtered water and can even throw in another 1/2 cup of worm castings. Stir or bubble ... let sit over night ... water that in. That will fix ALL possible deficiencies. All of em... Kelp meal will have all the macro and micro nutrients a plant needs to grow and thrive.

I'm not making this up... its been a thing in agriculture for a long time. It's called Kelp Meal for a reason - we've been feeding it to our animals as an amendment in feed stock because the plants we grow for feed them are lacking in many micro-nutrients our animals need to stay healthy. So should be able to source Kelp Meal cheap at a feed store.

Me personally no roots and plants need dark period so roots can break down sugars .

21/3 even you want some darkness ?

Wicked little nugget there bob.... ..thanks a tonne as usual. So does the same thing apply when it comes to hydro? My little dwc bucket is the one that I see the deficiency in. Kelp meal sounds like a godsend, I have a pile of natural amendments in my Arsenal for when I can finally pick up my base and get my soil cooking. I definitely have kelp meal, castings & My bubbler.

The Kelp and EWC are my backbone for all my ACT waterings. I don't use as much kelp as bob recommends but I use the ground up concentrated stuff that you don't need much. I use about a teaspoon per 2 gallons of water with 1 to 1.5 cup of EWC.

I ended up going to the hydro store today and picking up two new bottles of nutes. Also got my CalMag, just as a backup. I also ended up having both liquid kelp and kelp meal in stock so I can bubble some tea starting monday with my manifold and I'll throw in some castings to boot. Wish I was around during the day to do a kelp foliar spray. I've been looking to move my pump and manifold out to the space, prioritizing each trip with a new handful of stuff each time. Seems like every trip consists of a 2 Gln pail of water.....minimum lol.

Picked up a suitable Rubbermaid for making my cloner. I bought one, but when it got here it turned out to be WAY too small!

Finally...went to town for my day 45ish defoliation. Forgot my phone in the house for the post party shots, but all went well and it allowed me to LST with a little more direction. Lady G, if you're out there watching, yup, they are washed and in the freezer!
