In my moments of annoyance and disappointment, I forget to mention something that did go right - my improvised carbon filter.
My extraction pipe is made of 2 ft lengths of flexible 4" pieces that I simply duct taped together, but had not fully connected as I was waiting on the activated carbon to arrive while I was away. It duly did arrive and I constructed my pringles tube filter. I filled the tube with the carbon, tamped it off with some cotton wool and then stretched a nylon stocking over the end and added it to the ducting.
When I arrived home from my travels my grow room really smelt strongly and the time to put the filter had well and truly arrived. Once I had connected all the ducting and switched on the exhaust fan, I sniffed at the end of the duct and there was no smell coming through it at all and after it has been running for some time the room is completely clear of odours. I will have to leave this running 24/7 because if I don't the smell just percolates through the tent. I am now quite comfortable to let the tent simply vent straight into the room without having to worry to vent it to outside.
Quite by happenstance, I acquired a perfect length of 6" ducting from a clothes dryer vent and slid that over the 4" ducting. Even though I had shaken the ducting well beforehand, a whole mess of lint was forced out as I slid it over and it made a wonderful mess for me to clean up afterwards.
I've been a busy little beaver today organising my new little grow box for the 8 flowering clones and will probably pot them tomorrow. I have a total of 60w of cfls for the box which will provide between 3000 and 4200 lumens. This should be enough to give the clones a good head start until my baby finishes doing her thing.
