Hi everyone; back from a fabulous 8 days away, but 8 days in which I was constantly thinking of and worrying about my baby. I was mainly worried that my drip feed system would deliver too much water and cause flooding issues, but I needn't have worried about that.
I arrived home about two and a half hours before she was due to wake up and I was itching to see her, but had to curb my impatience. I filled the time doing odds and sods until it was almost time and then waited apprehensively nest to the tent. The sound of the lights clicking on was accompanied by an awful racket and rushed to open the tent to see what was causing it; my first thought being that the extractor fan had somehow worked loose and was catching on the vent hole, but it was not that. I looked in horror at the two bottles I had left filled with water and saw they were both about 3/4 full. My eyes went straight down to the reservoir and to my disgust saw that it was virtually empty and the noise was coming from the pump!
The wicks in my capillary drip feed were dry as a bone despite one end of each still sitting on the bottom of each bottle. I have still to work how this could be so as the wicks were dripping nicely when I left. Many of the lower fan leaves had turned yellow and fallen off and two of my clones looks very sad indeed (they have since come back nicely).
I have no idea how long the reservoir had sat virtually empty, but it must have been at least a day and a half. I'm very glad that I hadn't changed the reservoir and even though the nutrient level had dropped from 10 litres to almost nothing, it wouldn't have been too concentrated as it dwindled.
As for the young lady herself, she is still showing the effects of the nitrogen toxicity, but the buds managed to grow at least another inch or so and the number of pistils has increased and the loss of the lower fan leaves is nothing to worry about.
I immediately gave her some fresh water and gave her a flushing from above and then redrained it and refilled the reservoir and added her nutrients.
I suspect the net effect of the recent nitrogen toxicity and this latest fiasco will be a lower yield than I initially envisaged and the likelihood of a lb now looks somewhat remote.
So, how about some pics to see how she is faring 24 hours later?
I'll start with one of the clones.
