My First Time Growing

Sorry JimmyJ, didn't mean to cut you out of the conversation. I mostly posted my idea to try to get my butt in gear and use the lights :)

I think he signed off before, At least I'm sure he said have a good night. Same here too, I took my sleep meds and getting ready to turn in (I can't wait until I can quit taking sleep meds as well, I know THC helps me that way as long as it's indicta), so I hope you have a great night Rad, It was nice talking to you! I'm going to sleep, but I'm sure I'll "see" ya tomorrow. Goodnight Radogast and again, thanks for all the help!

Just thought I'd say good morning to all and post pics I took this AM. The tent is FULL, Unfortunately I couldn't get close ups that looked any different than the last ones I posted of the 2 new ones in flower mode, But will try again in a few days or so and hopefully they will have matured a little more. So here are the pics, First is just a pic to show how full the tent is:

Next is so you can see the buds on the older ones better:

I will be looking in on the bookcase sections next. Hope you all are having a great day!

You didn't cut me out, Rad, I was already in bed trying to fall asleep to Netflix, but you guys answered my question and then some!

again nice looking grow smoke , update me on how old they are and if you have a schedule as to when you will flush ? and get to enjoy the buds ? thanks

Morning Sweethook, The first 2 (On the left of the tent) were sprouted right at the beginning of January, 2016 around the 1st I believe they sprouted. The other 2 (on the right) sprouted around the mid to end of January (can't find the paper I wrote those specific dates on, sorry). I've been told around the first of May I should be able to harvest the first 2, but since this is my first time, I don't know how long the curing time will be. From what I've read, it should take between 3-4 weeks of curing before they are ready to be smoked. The other 2 in the tent I think will be harvest able in June/July and then cured. I hope this helps you. I'm still doing this for the first time, so I don't have all the answers but hopefully after my first grow I should understand the whole process better.

Morning Smoke

Nice photos

Thanks for the photos.

Thanks to the Mrs for sharing you with us this morning. --- back to work now.

Thanks Radogast, Every-time I look at them now, my mouth waters . I can't wait until they are cured. I know I have a few months to wait, But looking forward to it big time! That's when I'll be able to start cutting back the narcs to get off them. My goal is actually insight, (depending on how far along the other 2 plants and the ones in the bookcase are as well).

Nice job Smoke!!!! You are getting the hang of this!!! You are on your way to being off those pain killers in no time!!! Keep up the great work!!!:circle-of-love::peace:

Thank you Supergroomer! My goal is finally in sight and I can't wait to quit taking all these narcs. I've cut myself back as far as I can and still have some quality of life, but as soon as I can switch my meds to my growing ones, I should be doing a LOT better!!

Thanks!
Smokey

thanks smoke , i have 4 that are like 10 days old . iam like you sir iam learning as i go :thumb:

Good luck Sweethook, Just remember, it's a long process (that part sucks, I know) but as I am getting closer to reaping the benefits, it is so worth it! Have patience and do what I did, Look at it as partially a hobby too and something to keep you occupied until you get to the harvest and curing (I still have to learn that part) but I have learned to love it everyday even when I just take a peek at them during lights on periods.
I love my grow and am sure you will learn to love yours too if you don't already. If you haven't done so, I recommend you start a journal (it makes it easier on the people helping you to have just one place to go to help you and it is easy for you to reference back easier to older stuff you've had explained to you). Feel free to post here and ask people for help or tell them the address of your journal after you start one to get some help with stuff you have that specifically refers to your own grow. The other thing you can do (it seems daunting at first) but go back and read/skim thru mine until you find what you are looking for. You can also hit the "search Thread" right above the first post on each page (It will search the whole journal, I don't mean to say to search just one page) to look for specifics. I wish you as much luck as I've had and look forward to hearing more from you! Remember, you are always :welcome: here!

I agree with you on the clone being in a closed bag. Too much moisture, Not enough air movement or light and this one hasn't done it yet, but the first clone smelled as well. I decided to try a test. I took the clone out of the bag, put it in a small pot bottom that is about 7" across and probably 4-5" deep, then I took and put some rods across the top and placed another larger pot bottom (both very clear) over the top of the smaller pot bottom (see pic attached). This leaves a small amount of air to circulate in the "container" (which I can add clone water to each day if needed or as often as it requires it) as well as allowing A LOT more light to get in. This is just a test I thought of after reading your post and figured it can't hurt to try. Take a look at the pic and let me know what you think. Mine was/is very limp and looks to be dying and I'm hoping this will help it grow roots better. I just have to remember to check it daily to make sure the cube remains soaked. Here is the pic I took of the experiment:

Clone_test.jpg
I had enough water in the bag afterwards to pour it out as well. I just figured it couldn't hurt to try. If I had the money I would have bought the stuff to make Canna's clone bubbler, but it's a little out of my price range right now. If this fails, I will just save to get all the stuff to make the bubbler, but like I said, since this is just something I would have just gotten rid of after topping the amnesia, what's it gonna hurt to try?

I like your experiment, Smoke. I felt the same as you. I topped one of my girls, dipped it in rooting hormone and just stuck it in seedling mix and kept it moist. When it wilted, I put a DVD spindle cover over it. It's not clear like yours, but it let in enough light to get her to root. I told myself the same thing - it can't hurt to try. Almost 4 weeks later, I noticed it brushing the sides of the dome, so I knew it took!

Sounds like the results showed you it worked! I am still waiting for
mine to see how it goes, but I just started the new clone in the experimental container a few days ago. Hopefully it will take in the rock wool and grow roots. This is my second experiment with it and the first one just died after a few days, This one seems to be hanging on so far. Hopefully I'll have as much luck as you.
