My First Time Growing

Glad they let ya come home... I take 6 B/P meds a day... it sucks...:thedoubletake: but when I consider the alternative... I get over it...:biglaugh::biglaugh: Hope you feel better soon and listen to what your doctor tells you... I agree with ya on the calming of the garden... it works better than any of it on some days... Hope you are having a blessed and green day my friend.....:circle-of-love:

I was going to tell you about my B/P on your thread, but I'm just starting out where I post something little on others threads (since before when I tried giving advice & kept screwing it up), but figured I didn't want to bother your followers with my problems. But yeah, I see the family Doc again tomorrow and she's going to be changing my meds (She said she needed to see something in my chart in her office first), I only have to take 2 B/P pills right now and hope it stays that way or maybe she'll put me on 1 med that's stronger. She gave me another prescription for a different B/P med that I'm supposed to take with my original one for now until I see her tomorrow. (A script for 7 pills, that sucked) I sympathies even more now with your condition since I felt what it did to me and mine isn't nearly as bad as you suffer from it (along with your other conditions too). So I'm doing everything she said to do and even monitoring my B/P every hour or 2.

But the grow is calming, I wish I could putter with it more than my problems with my back let me.

Sorry I wasn't around yesterday, had a problem with my blood pressure early yesterday afternoon and ended up spending the night at the hospital (They call it a 23 hour stay, Must be because I'm on medicare). This morning my Doc at the hospital told me to take it easy today and I have been, But I looked at the Amnesia clone #2 and saw it was time to transplant and figured I could do that (working on the plants helps relax me, I love the way they look, grow and watching something grow that I planted, Just relaxes me). Anyways I took a few pics and thought I'd post them for you guys to see. The first pic is how the roots looked when I checked them but I also noticed that the roots came out of the side of the stalk in the cloner, My cloner is a little different than what Canna has, the way I understand it hers has bubbles the water to hit the bottom of the stalk, Mine has a submersible pump and you fill the bucket, submerse the pump (per the instructions) attach a PVC water sprayer to the top that comes out of the water and it shoots about 6 - 8 sprays at the side of the bucket, when you put the clone in, you have to get it lined up just right so a sprayer is hitting it, It works great unless you want to do multiple clone, after 2 you cant look thru the top whole to line up the water hitting the clone, But I have only cloned 1 at a time, so I still really like this cloner!. On this one, it seems to have slid down a little and the water ended up hitting the stalk and that's where most of the roots seem to be coming from.

Sorry about the BP - calmer pressures are good.

Great roots there :high-five:

I've never bothered with lining up the water on the spraying clonebucket with the stalks. When my clones didn't grow roots it was either a flowering clone or I cut the stem too short (less than 1/2" below the neoprene rubber circle.) I have filled the cloner up with 2 clones per neoprene circle and they all root.

You are getting great results, so maybe the spray right on the stem works faster. In my cloning, as long as the pump holds the sprayer close to straight up and water is flowing, the clones come out fine.

If there is anything I can help you with just let me know... Sending lots of love and good karma...:circle-of-love:

Thanks Dennise, Not to be presumptuous, But I was already thinking if I have any questions or problems with my B/P of asking you for advise/help. I had thought you would be the best person to ask anything. And thank you again!

Thanks Radodgast, On mine, if I don't line up the stalk with the stream, no water would touch the stalk ever. These are 6 or so thin strong jets shot at the side and the water is a few inches below the bottom of the stalk and I can't raise the water level because it would make submerse the jets of water. So not lining up would be like dangling the stalk above a glass of water but never touching the water at all.
But the stream is probably why they have all grown good roots in the cloner on all I've done so far. This thing takes a little more work I think (but well worth it), because I have to keep checking it to make sure the clone didn't move out of the stream, which it does every once in a while. That's why I check the clone each day. Sorry, I should have described the cloner better in my previous post.

I thought we had mostly the same cloner. If you look closely at the photo you can see a splash 'shield' where the water stream hits the side of the bucket and bounces off to form a hemisphere of splashed water.

If I hold my hand flat just above the open top, the palm of my hand gets moist from the splashing. Unless your pump is a lot smaller, you should be getting splashing mist filling the inside of your bucket - which means water touches the clone stems no matter how the top is rotated.

Mine looks identical to yours minus the splash shield, the water just hits the side of the bucket and rolls back down without making any mist. Looks like the same pump too from what I can see of it and even has the same attachment for the water spray, and the water jet is strong enough to hit the sides, but it doesn't cause the water to splash when it does. Maybe on mine they forgot the splash shield. It's not mentioned in the directions on the side but I like the roots I get this way though, so to me it's worth the little extra work of lining the stalk up and checking it daily. I also want to make the side cut for the power cord like you did (I assume) rather than run it through the top like they have it set up.

Taking a look at that system I bet it would work even better if you placed some easycloner emitters in those holes. The easycloner emitters work flawlessly as they have no moving parts. But they spray in a 360 pattern. It would fill the entire bucket with really fine spray. The water from each one would crash in to the water from the others and really give you 100% coverage. The real ones are pricey but you can find Chinese clones on the dbay auction site for real cheap (like 20 for less than five bucks with free shipping) just takes two weeks as they ship from China. Just go to dbay and search for "EZclone misters"

It's a good suggestion, but we have a sizing problem.

From what I can tell online, the pumps to drive these misters are matched at about 80 gph per ezclone mister.
The pilot holes for the mister are 5/32".

The 8 port clonebucket (the one I have) has a 97 gph pump to drive eight 5/64" holes. That is 12 gph per hole (stream of water.)

I don't think 12 gph will drive one of these misters.

I have roots out the side of my clones all the time Smokey, that's nothing to worry on at all. Those look awesome!

Good info from the guys on cloners too. :thumb:

Mine is homemade with a submersible aquarium pump with two air stones attached. The air stones produce the bubbles which come to the top and burst, splashing water all over the stems.

Keep that BP under control. We don't like when people are in hospitals. Home is where we want ya's!

Thanks Canna for the concern, But after adding another B/P med to the one I was on before, My B/P has been good. Oh, I wasn't worried about the cloner at all, I'm very happy with it and love the roots it makes. I was just explaining to Radogast why I have to line the stalk of the clone up with a jet stream. But it works fantastic the way it is, even with the little extra work, it's well worth it when I see the roots looking so good!

I need to figure out what I'm doing wrong with my cloning. I've had pretty good success getting them to root with the few that I've done, but it takes around a month to see any roots popping out. I get a bunch of white dots, but they don't pop out as roots for a long time. Days would be so much better than weeks...

I guess I need more practice! :thumb:

Nope, I just take a cutting, get it wet, dip in rooting hormone powder and cross my fingers. I've put 'em straight into soil, into water, and into the bubble cloner and they all come out the same. I think I need to scrape the sides and get gel instead of the old powder that I have. I bet that's what I need to change. :thanks::circle-of-love:

Jimmie, Is there anyway you can get a jet of water to spray on the stalk bottom (or side apparently)? I really think that's why mine grow such great roots. Off the top of my head I don't know how to accomplish it, But if you could get a strong jet of water to hit it I bet it would cut your time down to 7-10 days (I had one done after 5 days). Sorry I'm not more help.....

I have a small problem (potentially huge to the grow), but the zipper on my tent broke tonight when I went to take some pics. Does anyone know of a fastener system that I could use to keep my doors closed that won't cost a lot? Right know I just have a piece of heavy duty black plastic duct taped over the door and it works great to keep light out of the tent, But it's not a long term solution as I'll have to re-tape one side every time I open it.

I am also going to be moving the grow to a more stealthy location that I can walk in if I bend over some, we had a close call the other day when we called the ambulance and a cop was looking around the house, He even asked about my room with the grow in it because the door was closed and we told him that was where our dogs were locked up (They really were). But it made me worry about someone finding it. (I'm sure that didn't help my B/P at the time either)

My tent is a little too tall so we are going to have to shorten the poles a few inches and figure out a way to do that while keeping the light as high as I can. The area is 54" high and big, The only reason I didn't start it there was I first set stuff up for the bookcase and it's a little difficult for my back. I'm also moving the veg plants there too since the temp stays between 60 & 80 degrees year round. I'm considering using the big tent now since the zipper broke and using it for a 4' x 4' flower area (I'm going to set up only half the tent if it will let me, and I'll be setting up the veg area down there too by using this black sheeting to make a small light proof room about 30' away from whatever tent I end up using for flower. The flower tent will keep it's filtration system but the veg area will be open rafters that will let any heat from the light out once I put a small fan blowing out from it. The flower area will still be in a tent so light leaks won't be an issue. I'm also planning on putting a small ceramic heater in each area before winter to keep it at at least 70 degrees which the lights will probably do anyways, Mine put out enough heat to raise my room to 80 when the A/C is on even.

OK, I will be back in a few minutes, just want to get the 2 pics I want to ask you guys about.

OK, That was quick, but on the Truthband I noticed it last night looking all droopy and when I checked it this AM it was dry and I gave her a good watering this morning but she still is still all droopy and has been all day and has lots more yellow leaves now. The Truth band has been in the tent since 4/20 and is getting close (LOTS of trichs on her!) but since I only can use the Kindle, it's hard to get a good pic to show you guys. But is it something they all do near the end? My others were completely defoliated so they had no leaves to weigh them down or turn yellow. Here's the 2 pics I took of her:

I did add some worm castings to the top and watered thru it hoping that might help. But that was only this evening, won't know until tomorrow if that did anything. So I'm open to any advice or info on it.

Thank you guys all so much!

Smoke I need pics in natural light... with out the Leds... I can't tell a thing about their health in the pink light... I don't like the way the leaves are all droopy if it has been a day since you watered they should have picked up but when you can get me a pic without the Leds on and let me see if I can help you figure out what is going on.....:circle-of-love:
