My First Time Growing

I just realized I haven't posted pics of my older girls in a while. Duh! I'm sorry! So here is a first 2 pics of Harley and then 2 more (pretty similar actually) of Casey. They have been in flower since 2/16/16, so about 55 days. The last pic is of a nug on Harley, just so you guys are all up to date. Sorry I forgot to post these sooner!

Sorry I couldn't get the last pic with the loupe, I tried about 6 shots that just didn't come out. I just don't have Canna's picture talent :)
I guess. But anyways, these girls should be ready around the beginning of May is when I believe it was Radogast gave as his prediction as to when they would be ready to get harvested. They aren't "frosty" looking but the hairs on the buds went amber a while ago, but I'm willing to bet they still work for what we need. I just tried taking more pic's, I can't seem to get it to take a decent close up today.

Goodness those buds are fattening up nicely Smokey! Love them. :)
Thanks for the update and hope your weather is better. I actually got outside for a bit yesterday, it was sunny but still only 41.

@Jonwayne:

My youngest cat will head straight for the leaves and start an immediate chew on them if I accidentally let her in the rooms. It's kinda automatic. The oldest cat...could care less.

Catnip is most useful for mature cats. Kittens don't seem to get the same effect from it for some reason. I've had cats all of my life and this has proven itself to me many times.
So, speaking of that....I have my eldest cat on an oil regimen for her tum problems. She thinks she's a kitten again, I'm going to get the catnip out. LOL

Thanks for posting pictures. It looks like you have fine looking bud on those girls.

Don't believe that Radogast guy! If he said may he probably meant, May at the latest. You are in the window where growers try to look at a bunch of little signals to pick the right day to harvest. Are the buds still getting bigger? Are the pistils still straight and white or have they turned color? Are they curled or straight? What color are the trichomes? Are the trichomes still changing? Do the buds in the middle of the plant look as ripe as the top buds?

So many questions!

One could either try to time the harvest based on observations, or just harvest based on the calendar. 60-65 days is typical for cannabis with that leaf shape.

It's hard to tell from the LED lighting pics how much you have in the way of white straighter pistils (as opposed to reddish/brown shriveling) Smokey, so that will have to be your call.

It looks to me like there's still a lot of white there, from what I can make out in the pinkish light tone.

And don't go lifting anything out of the tent for daylight pictures! You understand what I mean, that's good enough.

I won't, But I used my magnifying lens to take this one. It used to almost all yellowish red, but when I took the picture in just the light from the magnifying glass it just shows white mostly. The pics are all out of focus on me again whether I use the lens or the loupe or I'd just post a better pic for you, Let me try one

In comparison to actually seeing them, this is weird, They look completely white in the pic, but here with just looking at them, they are yellowish red actually under the normal room light with the LEDS turned off. But I think that Radogast called the right day around the beginning of May. I still think they need more time to "stew" in their juices a while. Just wish I could a better pic for you guys! Sorry I'm not having a good "picture" day! :)

:passitleft: High Smoke... Happy page 150...:yahoo: I almost missed it... Looks like things haven't slowed down a bit over here....:goodjob:....:circle-of-love:

Actually things have been a little slower than normal, I was hurting for a few days and am starting my comeback today. I have pretty much just been following everyone's threads last couple days and not a lot of posts have been going out. It starting to feel better for me today so I'm just trying to catch up with my journal. Having a horrible time taking pic's today, My hands must just be a little shakey today because all the pics I took come out bad. Oh well, hopefully tomorrow I'll have some better pics for you guys!

Sorry Rad, But I do have faith in you. The buds are still growing a little I think but they slowed down quite a bit recently, The hairs appear yellowish red unless I take a pic, then they just look white even though I was looking at them under the same normal room light and the LEDs off. The hairs are mostly still straight and I think they just need more time to curl up on themselves, Like I said, I think you called the correct preliminary date (or even a little longer) as towards the beginning of May or later. I do want it at it's best:)

Some days I can get them and some days it just ain't happening.... I can tell ya that that baby is no where near ready... See all those pistols she is still throwing... That means she is still growing... I mostly go by the ambers like most everyone else but I also watch the calyxes... if you notice they should be swollen like where the branch meets the stalk it should be kinda humped... and when it is ripe they will no longer be swollen and also the pistols at the stem and branch will turn brown and turn down... once I see those things happen and I don't really see new pistols I start looking for ambers... Don't know if that helps much but it ain't ready...;)... Sorry to hear you were feeling bad but glad to hear it is getting better...:goodjob:....:circle-of-love:

That last pic was fine Smokey. They are still pretty fresh on those pistils. You got a while yet. :)

I figured they needed more time. That's fine. I've been waiting for a good harvest. I have no problem waiting longer to get a good harvest of decent weed (hopefully, since those were bag seeds).

Gorgeous!!!

How's the clone doing that you rooted in your bubble cloner and put in soil?

I just transplanted her into a 1 gallon pot yesterday or the day before (I forgot to write it down). She is doing really good though, Here's 2 pic's I took of her. She is really growing quickly too! Once I have the new tent set up, I will doing a lot more cloning now. Just my normal helper is on 12 hour days this week and I don't want to ask him to help me with the tent until he's had a little time off.

Wooo you're doing it! It's a legitimate perpetual. Your flowering girls are fattening up. And your young one is looking great too. As you get more harvests under your belt after this one you will deepen your relationship to the plant. You just silently communicate to each other. And just like the plant communicates to the microbes in the soil, she will communicate to you as well. "I'm thirsty smokey...help a girl out"

It's an amazing thing to do. To cultivate a relationship with cannabis. You will see your flowers get better each time and sometimes you won't feel you have done anything different. But it's all the little things working together. Getting close now to that first one. That really makes me smile knowing you will be smoking your own. Cheers to you sir. You are overcoming disability to achieve something great that will improve your health and lengthen your life. I still keep in my mind about Mrs smokey and I know you think of that every day. Each step in time. These things happen as they should. These Meds you are growing may help you to heal, allow your pain to lessen. Then you would have the strength to grow a bit more and make oil for Mrs smokey as well as treat yourself.
I know it is hard to be patient to get to that point. Each step in time smokey. You are on your way.

I trust your judgement on this, and the guidance of the fine ladies and gentlemen around you.

The hairs on Harley are still young and bursting with life.
Casey's buds look more mature, but they also look like they are growing fresh little patches of hairs that may grow out into foxtails.

Your ability to listen to your plants, as Shiggetyflip suggested, is serving you well.

Its hard to believe those girls are just old bagseed, they look amazing. Look More like something off the cover of a magizine, you have done a great job with them. I cant help but be jealous, my first grow looked more like something out of a cannabis deficiency book lol. Ill be looking fwd to seeing your girls when they do finish up:thumb: but right now im gonna go check out the soil recipe all you guys are growing these beautiful ladies in. Id like to give it a try and get away from all these bottled nutes. Good job smokeater!
