My First Plant - Cookie Killer (Auto)

When you might have time I'm wondering what light you would recommend to buy next if I was going to grow another solitary plant same kind of plant in the closet after this one please? Thank you! ☮️
Hey Buddy :ciao:
I always recommend you buy the best light you can afford.
I find people always expand and up grade.
And end up buying a bigger light.
You can turn it down but if it's not big enough your spending more money.
As long as it fits your opening.
I'm sponsored by @VIVOSUN
I chose them because of their quality and industry leading variety of products.
I have a VS6450 in my 5x5 flower room.
I'm using the VS4000 in my 4x4 veg room, excellent light.
Anything in the VS series will do you proud.
Fully adjustable works with the grow hub system capable of flowering a girl.
If your in the US Amazon will deliver next day all their in stock products.

Personally I like @ViparSpectra , I have a XS-1500 Pro in my closet and I’m very impressed with the little light. I use it in combination with a mars TS-600 and for a closet that’s enuff. CL🍀

I'll second the recommendation. I have one in my 2 x 2 tester and I think it's an almost perfect 2x2 light. My only issue would be the step dimmer. I prefer a sweep style rather than step to fine tune the light output.

Well, I have to ask . . . Does anyone know what the difference is between my Spider Farmer SF 1000D and the Vipar XS 1500 besides the dimmer switch?

I'm willing to get a better light if there is a reason too. ☮️🙏

the 1500 is 150 watt as the SF is 100 not to sure what diodes they use on the XS 1500, in my 3x3 tent i have 2 SF1000 and my 5'x4' i have spider farmer SE5000

The xs1500 is 150 watts.
It puts out more light, and if I remember correctly it has a slightly larger flowering footprint.
Viparspectra xs series are good lights. The xs1500 pro also has a more even spread due to the design.

Edit: The xs series use Samsung lm301b or lm301h diodes.

Here's what I get . .

The Play store has the older version. This version was updated in 2023.

It’s a very impressive light for 150 W I was blown away by its performance. I didn’t think 150W light could perform like that. CL🍀. :thumb: :woohoo:

I think for now just stay with the SF100 unless you are planning on setting up a complete system. If you're going to upgrade I would do it all at once when you setup your grow tent or closet and the stuff that goes with it. You want to make sure that you properly size all the gear that is going into the size tent or closet you choose. You may decide after this run that you want to go big and go with a 4 x 4 tent. Bigger fans and bigger lights.

I use to do grow room buildouts as a side hustle. The most important advice I can give when you're setting up a grow room is don't buy anything until you've put pen to paper and tried to work out every possible scenario. Once you're sick of going over it all in your head go over it one more time then execute. You'll still get presented with issues unique to your situation that you didn't think about but doing it this way will minimize the big stuff.

This is a floorplan I did for a client 15 years ago. She wanted an all in one that would fit into a 40 ft sea container.

100w should get you through all the stages of growth. Would a stronger light improve your veg growth rates and flower production? Most definitely but for now practice on the plant you have going. It's going well so if it ain't broke......

I noticed you've been journaling your grow which is a good thing for reference. Once you have your set up ready to go you can take all that newfound information that you learned and put it to practice to see what works best for your grow style.

I can't stress enough how important it is to setup your grow by setting up your seedling/clones for success. Getting it right from the start will make the rest of the journey much easier.

Yes. One of the things that I wish more newbs would take the time to learn is how nutrient ions work along with basic plant biology. Understanding how your plant eats is essential in being able to feed it correctly and, again, optimize that part of the equation.

Yep yep yep.. there’s veteran growers that don’t realize cannabis stores up P twice during veg for flower so they miss that boat. That’s just one minor example of how much you can work with just by knowing the basics. No product is going to give you the improvement that hitting those P bursts will.

Once all parts have been understood and mastered, only then can you move onto more sophisticated grow styles. The foundational underpinnings will guide you in mastering the more advanced techniques faster and with less issues.

Watching newbs trying to run their first grows through an RDWC system can be painful to watch. I get that this style will produce explosive growth but do you know how to control the growth or deal with issues that crop up within that system?

I think the same. You’ve got people who don’t even know what pH is trying to run a highly sophisticated grow with little room for error. These methods with these massive results are from growers who have spent years perfecting their craft and I can show you similar results across all methods. It’s the growers, not the methods that are producing.

I couldn’t imagine trying to figure out what the plants are telling me while trying to figure out an entire new method of growing while having the costs of start up on my mind. Even still today the plants some times throw me a curve ball. Experience is the only way you know how to handle those curves.

Honestly, I think it should be required reading for all, organic or not.

I agree. The more people understand their plants the better off we all are. Reading those books can alter the way you view the world around you and make anyone a plant whisperer.

Yes, this. The learning process might seem like it is unnecessary to someone who has not grown anything ever before but it can be enough to let them know if gardening, especially inside a house and in a tent is something for them.

Everyone thinks growing plants is a simple endeavor until they actually start growing plants. It’s understandable, plants are everywhere and grow on their own. How hard can it be? It’s easy to forget the millions of years worth of evolution they’ve gone through. Plus, most of us don’t really examine the plants around us. We see the trees and the grass but we don’t really look at it. When I first learned how to spot deficiencies I realized so many plants and trees are lacking in calcium and other basic nutrients but I had never noticed it before. Now I can spot PM from the street 🤣

10 years ago a lot of NY Venture Capitalists were trying to cash in on "Green Gold". I used to link investors with farms that needed financing or wanted to sell the operation. One of those investors came to California to walk the investment he was thinking of funding. I took him to the farm and gave him a tour of the facility.

After the day was over we were driving back to his hotel and he was really quiet. I asked him what he was thinking about and he said "I didn't realize pot farming was so complicated. I just figured you threw seeds in the ground and when they were ready you harvested them."

Nursery from the farm I took him too....

Lots of people don’t even know where their food comes from, I’m not surprised. I am however, always a little surprised at how dumb some people can be and still have money. Just shows you, being wealthy is rarely about hard work or being intelligent and cunning. It’s more about who you know or who you’ll fuck (over).

Behind every great fortune is a great crime.............

This post is a keeper! Thanks 👍

You are exactly right, there's no need for me to buy anything else until I figure out if I want to move to a full blown tent set-up. And then if I do put a huge amount of planning into it before buying anything. I had it stunted for about 10 days early on. She would probably look better now if I would have started her in the closet from day 1 with the way the closet is set up now.

The first two weeks with this plant it went from my living room window to on top of my fridge with a grow bulb to the closet with a grow spotlight, to eventually this Spider Farmer light. Not exactly getting it right from the start. 🤦‍♂️. ☮️🙏

I'm sure your plant will do fine. It's weed. It can take a lot of abuse and still keep coming at you. I should know. I've beaten up and killed more plants than I care to remember.

It usually goes quick like that. One minute you’re just a little curious and aren’t really planning anything major. The next week you’re insulating the attic and mounting a commercial grade fixture.

If you feel like giving up just remember, you’ve spent a lot of money already, make it worth it 🤣

I came home with a pack of seeds and a bag of BX.
Decided I was going to grow pot.
Before I knew I had 5 rooms and was shipping across the country.
Best addiction I’ve had.
Growing is just crack for my soul 🤣
I took to it like breathing, not as well but a necessity for me.
If there is one thing I wish I’d had taken more seriously though in my original plan it’s safety.
Specifically fire safety.
I’d start with that in mind and build from there.
That’s what I did with the new facility I just built.
Year round, fire proof and away from the house.
Never going to put my family at risk ever again.

Stay safe

Insulating the attic actually sounds good. 😂 I'm pretty sure I'm already addicted to growing weed. I'm loving this. 👍🙂☮️
