My First Plant - Cookie Killer (Auto)

She popped up 6 days ago. She's under a light bulb type led grow light at 27 DLI now.

The Lush soil seems to need watered everyday so far. I'm just watering about 5" in diameter around the seedling

How's the other seed doing? Has it popped yet?

The Other One is looking good.

Water all the media even at the outer edges of the pot to runoff. This way capillary action won't pull that moisture away from the root ball and evaporate. It should help space your watering frequency out more.

Sprout looks good. Is it the same auto genetics as the one you have flowering?

I've never tried to grow a plant from seed in such container before. Thanks!!

Yes it's the same auto as the one that is flowering now. This is actually a cool experiment to compare the two plants with some upgrades in soil, pot, Myko, nutrients etc.

I was going to hang my bud in the grow closet to dry, but I just read that it needs a dark place.

I've been looking at videos of people that hang their branches in cardboard boxes to dry.

I'm having trouble seeing a consensus about humidity and temp for drying. I wonder if anyone here could help me with this understanding please?

You want a cool dark spot with just slight air movement.
I use the sauna for anything under 2 pounds.
But I converted a bedroom upstairs for bigger hauls.
Doesn't have to be pitch dark.
But some air movement I find is helpful.
Under 20 c and under 60 rh are good.
Never used a box sorry.

The rule of thumb among most is 60/60. 60°/60%.

I dry in my tent so I can get total darkness and control the environment somewhat. Depending on outside environment I get it as close to the 60/60 as I can.

I use the old school method and cut down and hang the entire plant. After a couple days I remove all the large fan leaves and whatever other leaves I feel hold a lot of moisture. After a couple more days I remove the branches from the main stem and hang them to dry for a few more days. When the flowers are getting crispy on the outside but still mushy on the inside I remove them from their branches and jar them. The inner moisture will absorb into the drier outer layers and rehydrate the flower. If it's too wet I'll remove them from the jar and spread them over a drying net to allow the outer part of the flower to dry again then put them back into the jar to rehydrate. I'll do this until the flower is dry enough in the jar to be able to have to only burp the jars a couple times a day. Burp means open the jar for a time to give it a chance to expel whatever moisture built up in the jar.

As far as air circulation I setup my fan so that I get a nice swirl of air moving throughout the tent and in between the branches when I first cut it down. I also try and open the branches when I first hang the entire plant so that I don't get any moisture sinks where mold can take hold.

After the flowers are stable enough to keep in the jar I like to leave them a few more weeks to both continue drying and to begin the curing phase.

Thanks Man! Very Helpful!

I got a jewelers loop and with this I can see tons of clear resin on what seems to be fully developed trichs (mushroom version). I wouldn't be surprised if they start turning cloudy any day now.

So exciting! I love this time in the garden. You have learned so much with this plant! Looking forward to seeing your sprout take off!

Wow Bill hauls over 2 lbs! How big is your grow room/tent?

It's 2.5' x 3.5'. I think I can get three of these autos in there at once. Four plants would be wall to wall foliage.

Coincidentally, the sprout "Bertha" decided to start taking off today. Much darker green and more plump than the other one at the one week mark.

Also, I have to own up to a blunder/unintended variable between the two. I noticed a residue and realized I grabbed the wrong mister last week and watered her with a full strength cal/mag leftover from the initial attempt to help the other one "Mary". I still can't believe I did that. 🤦‍♂️

I don't want to monopolize my own thread here 🙂 but I have to share that since I watered and fed Mary yesterday, her buds have started growing noticeably vertically again as well as building wider. This is so fascinating! ☮️

But....it's your...thread!!! 😆

Interesting about your sprouts. Seems like your newly sprouted cultivar is giving you a big thumbs up on the media.👍

Label your solutions!!! 😄

I got the royal chew out from a master gardener once for the same type of mistake. IIRC, it was a bottle of insecticidal soap solution and I thought it was cal/mag.

Exactly right!!

@Ramblinrose1965 it's like you shouldn't compare 'some' bands who claim to have the spirit of the dead (or some that actually do like DSO), but between Mary and Bertha . . . There's no comparison.

One plant has been such a trip. I can't imagine looking after a commercial grow. It's been a great trip though. Thanks again man
