You need to leave it in 12/12 to get the pollen. You can try to collect and store the pollen or take a clone if you want to keep it for breeding later.

I finally figured out why the buckets were staying half full in my system(face palm) the waterline in the res needs to be lower than the base of the buckets to drain properly "DOHHH" I should have known this.the res I was using was a 120 litre rubbermaid storage bin and it has pretty high sides and according to my hydro shop this is whats causing the problem, so I bought a proper low profile 40 gallon res that i will modify a bit and install tonight.hopefully the buckets will drain the way they are suposed to now:)

definately not. ive used them repeatedly with no issues at all. its true copper is toxic to the roots, thats why the roots wont grow into lines with copper disc of drain hole. but we are talking small discs that arent constantly sitting in the water and res is changed weekly. maybe iv the copper sat in water constantly and u never change res. i use them on flood drain system with no issues and theres always residual water in the pots. did u ask him if he'd tried it or was that just his thoughts? big difference between what he thinks will happen and what does happen bro.

Mr. cultivator, if I may ask, on a flood and drain system, how much of a drop do you make from the high end to the drain? Is the residual water helpful in keeping the roots moist during the drained period? Flood and drain is looking like something I might try because I think I can DIY my rig....Thanks

i dont use a drop mate. i sat the plants on trays which are angled slightly to run the water out. but there is always a small amount of residual remaining. its only a small amount and yeah helps keep the roots moist but not soaked. its an excellent system. im still trying to decide if i like flood and drain or dwc better, but flood drain is def more forgiving to errors and u can give dry periods in flower then boost with nutes which the plants absolutely love. at week 4 i dont feed for 3 days then when i do the explode! i do the same at week 6. google iws 24 pot flood and drain, thats the systems i have now but there are others or u could diy, its easier and faster for me just to buy the systems, but they easy to build.

yes and no. there are different types. u can get the type that sits in bottom of pot next to the drain hole, or a mesh type disc to cover hole. Both work well, the mesh type is a newer addition but the type that sits in bottom works too. Either be suitable for ur system mate.

the none mesh type are around 6 inch, and the mesh type are 2-3 inch. Ur roots will die off where they touch them but it definately works with no ill effects mate.

ok thanks C I ll give the mesh a try next round,the system isnt draining well right now I have a feelling the drains are badly plugged and its a real pain to get in there at this point. It seems this screen is becoming more and more of a pain in the ass, im thinking about taking it out. with the third row of pots under there its not going to be easy to trim the middle row,im not even sure if I ll fit in there lol

thats the down side to the scrog, access and the longer veg period. ive had roots blocking drain holes and plugging up lines and its a pain in the arse. either disc will work no problem, def alleviate the problem. i just get mine straight from local hydro store for cheap. not sure where u get them in ur area, sure u'll get them online no trouble.

running out of things to say since this garden keeps getting more impressive.. well done man. question for anyone really, do any of you growers count flowering from when stretch stops? or count from when you first see pubes showing? or do you count from when you switch to 12/12 ?
