My First Grow... Afgan x Mazar

so i was examining my pants today... that little brown burn mark with the yellow ring around it showed up again on one of the 5 star leaves, the main one :( i'll get a pic of it later, but it's just like in the pix from the page before, around the same size. i'm a little worried now, cuz it's continuing to show up.... could it be nute burn? i am using about 1/4 strength nutes just yesterday. any advice????

here we go, here's the pix of the burn on the Bagweed:

I need advice on the burn!!!!

After some wise advice from you guys, i decided these guys need more light! so I re secured the system with stronger hangers, thicker plastic, and used good ol' duct tape all over it to secure so that the whole thing was supported by the entire width of the hanger. I tried hanging it down with string, but that proved not a good idea, too much swinging. So i made the safe decision and readjusted the lights and propped up the plants instead of lowering the lights. also, i still need advice on this burn before i leave for vaca!

This is the setup!

how many days left till vacation? that burn could have been festering before you corrected it with nutes, so it may not be indicative of a continuing issue, but rather a side effect of what you avoided. also, it could be not enough nutrients. those cups are small and prolly rootbound, so it dun take em long to eat up what's in the cup. also, try adding some dirt to the top of the cups and then watering...i usually have to add a few times a month due to erosion caused by the act of watering, and if I'm not mistaken I can see some of the damaged plant's roots poking out of the soil.

i leave for vacation on friday night, those aren't damaged roots poking out of the soil, it's jsut the soil mix i picked up. I added more soil to the cups, watered it down a bit. i made up a 1/4 strength solution, gonna use that this week with the 24/0 schedule to get this baby moving. this way they'll be adjusted by the time I leave, then I can transplant. I want to transplant soon, I have a feeling you guys are right about the roots being cupbound.... we'll see.

great advice man, +rep. I think it might be zinc deficiency, which should be fixed by repotting in new, fresh soil. i'll get that fixed at the end of the week

crap. So i really over watered the lil ones yesterday. They're all drooped over and such. Gonna let it be for today, no water, hopefully they'll perk right up, we'll see... shitty week for a few things to be going wrong, i gotta leave friday for a week.... i'll do the transplant thursday or wed night... whenever i can get around to it. today and tomorrow look like rough days, really too busy. i'm gonna not water and see how that affects the plants for the next day or so. I know the plants are root bound now, no guesses there. they need to be transplanted asap, i just gotta get around to it and I want to make sure I do it right. I'm guessing i want the soil to be a little moist when transplanting, have as little light as possible, and have new soil for the seedlings to go into. I'm gonna get another 8" pot and some soil asap so i'll be ready when i have the time. no pix now, possibly tonight.. we'll see

how are the T8 bulbs working for you? Im getminating my medijuana seeds as we speak.. do you think that 2 4ft t8 cool whites for veg and hps for flowering will be adequate for my first grow. i am a rookie so any help will be much appriaciated. thanks

the T8 tubes suck. haha, i bought them before i knew how to set up a room... rediculous. get sunlight bulbs, T12 or higher if possible

oh ok.. yea i seen them both at home depot for pretty cheap. i will go ahead and get the T12 no need for 2 ppl to make the same mistake twic. thanks alot bro and good luck on your grow

ok my friends!!! Holy shit were you guys all right about the root bound... wow. I took a pic of the new pots, and of me transferring, getting a pic of the roots in the dark, and sure enough, my camera batteries die!!! I gotta go out and get a bunch it looks like. I can't upload them till i get the batteries, in the next day or so.
So I did the transplantation!!!! I hope everything goes well. I picked up a pro mix with Canadian Peat Moss, Vermaculite, Perilite, and Limestone (for pH stability). I've read this is a good mix for keeping the plant wet and having plenty of oxygen. I'm serious though, i had no idea the roots were that far along, i'm sure the plants are gonna perk up now that their roots can grow!!! and ooohhhhhh how they can grow!! I got two 16" pots! i said fuck it with the 8" pot i've been using and upgraded to the big thing so i won't have to think about the plant going root bound again. I'm just hoping the roots spread out now that they have so much more room to play. the growth should really be quite explosive by now. I should have known to replant earlier, as Insider did it a while ago. Again, sorry for no pix but my camera is dead. i'm just happy i got a good pic of the root bound. I'm wearing medical gloves in it to cover my hands from the soil and to protect my identity :) Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm glad i transplanted now instead of right before I leave cuz the soil is having a bit of a hard time retaining water. there is a "wetting agent" in the soil, but not sure what it is. I'm sure everything will adjust just fine. Can't wait till i get back from vaca! and i heard the suggestion that i set up a time laps... too much work. i'd rather wait in suspension!!

for nutes right now, i'm using the miricle grow i showed in the begining. It's 24-8-16 i think. i mix it in full strength in a distilled water gallon, and have two of those ready. I have 4 ordinary distilled gallons that get used to dilute the full strength stuff less and less each week or so. I started out with none for the first week, then began using. then the plant seemed stunted, which i'm guessing is due to the rootbound, and then i started having problems with the one plant, but the new soil should fix that. my plan is to get everything tested as if i were gone over the next few nights to make sure everything is good before i leave, then water the crap out of them sat. morning before i leave and water when i get back saturday. I will make the water more diluted to make sure to avoid nute burn. does that sound like a good idea??? and i know i need to get better nutes last time but money is an issue.

well just give them a low does as miracle grow is some strong shit!
if you can go with prob 1/8 the recc dose.
last thing u wanna do is water the crap outta them b4 you leave and come back to some burnt ass plants.
i say go 1/8 and work your way up. hopefully by the time u get to 1/2 str you upgrade you nutes

it's scary leaving your babies to fend for themselves, but in my limited experience quite often it aint a bad thing. if i'm not there i can't fuck it up! Always nice to see the progress after all that time too.
