Morglie's Perpetual: New Space & New Strains

Everything looks delicious. No surprise there!

I wonder what would happen if you used black buckets or blacked-out those buckets so the roots aren't getting light on them? I think your leaves might be a tad more healthy.
Thank you. The Kit makes it pretty easy. Especially, now that I have more consistent environmentals.

I know there's an issue with these type of buckets while running hydro. I found that out in my first attempt at growing. :(
Do they let through that much more light than regular white pots, that they would affect the roots in soil? I figure it would be about like the root builder pots in light penetration to the roots. I've been using these as I get them free from work. I'll have to grab a black bucket and try it out.

I transplanted 5 purple Malawi x Apollo 13s yesterday. 1 and I'm pretty certain 5 are males, and 2-4 are females.

The stem on 2 looped somehow when it was little. That's why she's shorter than the others

These are the top colas of the plants I harvested the other day. They have some fat buds on them.

Peace

A lot of purple in these flowers :)

mmmmm purple dog....

Is that PM x apollo 13 from the same PM mother?
Yes. I pollinated her with UD, Apollo 13 and Tangie. I haven't popped any of the Tangie cross yet. I'm planning on looking through a small collection to make a bunch of F2s like the UD mix, then I'm moving onto the Tangie cross to do the same. The Malawi mother isn't super vigorous and it doesn't have good side growth, so I'm working on that first, then I'll explore each cross more thoroughly.

A lot of purple even in veg. Almost all the stems have purple streaks and I see one female with almost no purple I'll it is a green pheno.

So you had the PM x UD (I think I have some of these), then backcrossed a male to the PM mother, right? Then grew them out and bred that generation to make f2 PM x UDs? But you said the F2s are not so good so far right?

I need to write this stuff down like i did for the Ultra Dog.

Cheers Morglie,

I have 3 of the backcross going. I had 2 die as seedlings, but the other 3 are doing well.

I also have F2s that I just harvested the plant that I'm making them with. There's no backcross in there. Just two F1 purple Dawgs got crossed to make them.

And yes, you have the F1 of the cross which is an UD male and my PM Malawi mother.

The purple stripes are from the Malawi mother. The stems may go completely purple later.

Hopefully that answers your questions. On break at the moment and trying to hurry.

Peace!

@lazyfish I don't remember where now, but you were asking about the Carnival x Purple Dawg cross, as to the male used. Its the same one I used in the backcross. It had narrower fingered leaves, and was fairly reminiscint of the mother in leaf structure and smell.

Speaking of the backcross, the three that lived are doing very well. They all are fatter leaved. One of them, which I'm pretty certain is a male, is dark green and praying. I may end up doing something with that cut if it turns out to be a male. Still plenty of time to grow seeds on the Kerala.... Or one of the PM x Apollo 13s.

Exciting stuff you have going on over there!
There's quite a few crosses buildings up that I want to test. I'd like to do larger groups than 5 at a time, but even running them in 1 gallon, I'm going to have half my flower room full of little plants. That's going to get busy when they need to start drinking every other day, along with my other plants. I am planning on dialing back my regular plants while I run them though. Maybe I won't pull out the rest of my hair trying to keep up. o_O

So, I have a Purple Dawg that went amber yesterday. Its coming down tomorrow morning at 49 days since pistols. So only 7 weeks. Fastest one yet. It has been green all the way up until today, and I swear she has a light lavender color now. I cut a branch last week and just smoked part of a bowl today. It has fuel in the taste and it may be the fact that I didn't smoke yesterday, but it seems to have a serious kick. The buds are shaped differently as well. Narrower, with longer tips.

The Blueberry I'm running just showed amber today, so she'll come down tomorrow as well. 8 weeks on her. She's had problems most of her life in flower, but the buds look nice, and the smell is pretty cool. I have no idea how to describe it. I'll have to see how it smokes and get the wife's opinion.

Sweet! Congrats on another sweet grow!

:goodjob:

PMUD looks delicious as always. I am at day 9 of flower and no sign of pistils, yet.... any minute, now.

Cheers,
They should be showing any time now. My friend grew cuts from the two I had outdoors this year. It sounds like they are the fan favorites out of his whole outdoor harvest. Tasty stuff, but not at the same level as my indoor grown.

This Blueberry is tasty. Very strong almost menthol like flavor. I've been expecting to drop it in rotation, but was holding off to test the smoke. I may have to keep this thing around. Maybe pollinate it with something.

Hmm, something very sativa leaning. Maybe a Panama.
:yummy:

Fuel/gas was a pretty standard flavour in Aurora Ultra. That strain was very heavy in terpene department. From truffle through fuel to vinegar in higher temps. But UD is definitely on the sourish side with lemon/pine in most of the expressions, so my guess is there's a recessive gene at play :smokin2:

Wow. That is a great point. I still don't think I have experienced a gas/fuel flavor from the UD. Maybe next year?

I have 2 males of the purple dog and they have distinctly different aromas. One is really fruity like candy and the other is more subdued but like dry tea bags or something earthy and sweet.

Cheers,

That's what I was thinking. It's different than the other ones I've grown so far, so something recessive. And I don't have a clone of it... That just means more room for seeds to look more varieties.

Very cool. There's a range of scents on these I'm finding.

The UD x PM sounds good Morglie. I just got my 1st real chance to try my UD yesterday. This one was grown properly, the last one was in some bad soil and it still came out good enough for me to want to do her right. My patient stopped by yesterday and before he left I broke out the UD. Mine has a chemical/piney taste to it and hits like a Mack truck! I didn't expect to get as high as I did. He was planning on leaving then we smoked and he sat back down and said I won't be driving on that right away. He stayed another 2 hours before he felt like driving and this dude drives high all the time. It wasn't unpleasant being that high I just didn't expect it. I couldn't feel my legs for like an hour and a half. I had to ditch the clone though she was throwing fertile naners at the end. I bet Malawi added to that would be pretty devastating.
