What light schedule do you have your flowering plants under? 11/13? Just curious as to how many weeks the 11/12 or possible 10/14 light cycle has reduced flowering times for you. Any help is welcomed

I've ran 11/13 since I started up until about two months ago, when I switched to 11.5/12.5. I don't know if it's strictly the lighting or something else as well, but my plants seem to be stacking better this round than they ever have before.What light schedule do you have your flowering plants under? 11/13? Just curious as to how many weeks the 11/12 or possible 10/14 light cycle has reduced flowering times for you. Any help is welcomed

Have you noticed a difference in flower time total switching from 11/13 to 11.5/12.5? I've only grown once using the Gas lantern routine and that seemed to reduce the total time flowering and over-all stretch. Are you riding the QB wave? I haven't changed lights in a while but I've been seeing a lot of people switching to QB LED's. I guess it doesn't really matter since you're getting better results this time
We smoked it again last night. It is very much a sativa buzz but there is a buzzing throughout the whole body. The wife is sensitive to a lot of the sativas I run and she loves this one. No anxiety. The buzz is very functional. I usually don't like to cook when I'm high because I tend to do stupid shit like leave the stove on or forget some critical ingredient or forget to set a timer but not with this one. Kali China has a way of just making you feel like everything is OK and this passes through to the Thai Chi. The flavors though are some of the best to come out of my garden. I set aside a bud to get tested just so I can see the terps. I would put the potency at med-high. It's not my most potent strain but it has enough that it isn't an issue.

The current one should be finishing up in a few weeks, so I'll have an idea at that point if it's slowed things down adding a half hour of light. They definitely are stacking more than in the past. It seems like I've always ran into some problem every several months. (Lighting issue, resurgence of mites, a bone head move in my feeding schedule.) Speaking of lights, yes I'm running QB. I built a new grow area last fall and @Graytail helped me figure out my lighting needs. I bought parts and built my own lights. I'm running 260 Watts over my veg area and 780 Watts in my flower room. I should pick up another 2 panels to bring that up to 1040 Watts. I was going on the lighter side to make sure temperatures didn't get out of hand. They are heads and shoulders above the blurple lights I used to use, and I used to run almost the same wattage in a flower room with 1/3 the footprint of my current room.
That sounds like a sweet plant. I've been searching for a good, feel happy sativa. I started growing the Panama again because that has such a nice sativa buzz, where everything just feels right in the world. I'm going to have to look into picking some of those up next time I order.

The Ultra Dawg fooled me. He showed his balls today. That's 3 for 3 now on getting males with my UD. That frees up a spot in flower, which is where a Purple Dawg is going in. This is a cutting of 2. It has a slight toasted coconut taste on the top of the month upon exhale. Nice smoke. But I'm finding that the Purple Dawg is best as an evening smoke. It can make you nonsensical and when it winds down I feel tired and want to fall asleep.
Now that I've got the F2s generating, it's time up move on. I have 3 of the backcross going, but I'm not very enthused about the vigor. 2 others died as seedlings.
I planted 5 purple Malawi x Apollo 13 two days ago. Today I have the first one up. I'm hoping to find a speedier sativa buzz out of this cross. Make a good productive cross.

I was talking about the Purple Dawg F2s I'm making right now, so I've got a while before I can test any out.
I was going to go through some of the seeds I made by backcrossing the male Purple Dawg I found in my outdoor plants, to the mother. I planted 5 but 2 died while they were seedlings and the other 3 aren't looking all that vigorous. The mother isn't a very vigorous strain, and backcrossing it has seemed to reinforce that in the seeds I've popped so far, do I've decided to change gears while I'm waiting on the F2s.
I popped 5 seeds of the same mother pollinated by an Apollo 13 male I got last year. I'm thinking the buzz should be fairly clear headed, but energized. I want a good day time, get shit done, smoke and I'm thinking this might make a good candidate.

OK I think I understand now. Bummer that the backcrosses are not so vigorous. Is it possible to predict? Maybe with 1000 parents to chose from and lots of experience. That does not mean you can't make F2's or F3's and backcross then.

Backcrosses can be a great thing to reinforce traits you desire. The main issue is that the act tends to lower vigor a bit, but coupled with a strain that's already pretty week, it can really carry that trait over. The idea, then would be to mix in a different strain that carries traits I'm looking for, that can add some F1 vigor back in. I'm not trying to make a poly hybrid though. I'll probably pop some more down the road and I'm definitely going to finish out the ones I started, but I'm done looking through the backcross for now.
On to other crosses. There are plenty to go. I really want to try out the Carnival that I pollinated with that some Purple Dawg. Or perhaps the Malawi x Tangie. The purple berry scent has carried over in all of the Purple Dawg crosses, even the green phenos, which makes me curious as to how it will mix with the Tangie flavor. That one should be extra tasty.

Awesome! I've had several more I'm running that were volunteers that I've identified. They all seem to have the sweet cocoa/confections smell to them to one degree or another. And the two I harvested that looked green are looking purple once I grind them up. Seriously potent as well.Hey Morglie, I hope all is well in your world.

I've been smoking on some of the Purple Dawg this week. The latest one has menthol in the nose on exhale. Very nice buzz. It can definitely slow me down in the grow room though. I tend to find myself just gazing at the plants. I probably should wait to fully partake until I'm done...
I trimmed the purple one tonight. 13 days hanging. She's nice and frosty. My wife says it smells like books and old leather. It leaves a tingle in the nose and throat like I've been smoking a clove cigarette. Even a hint of the taste. The buzz hits almost immediately. Its a fairly balanced hybrid and it has a tendency to put me into a daze in higher doses. It could be the indica hitting me pretty hard, as I smoke mostly sativas, but I'm pretty certain this is the most potent strain I've grown to date. Thank you @Lembatoast and @conradino23 for the excellent Ultra Dawg genetics I've used in this cross.
Speaking of the F2s, they are coming along nicely.
This was a volunteer. Now that she's flowering I can tell with relative certainty, that's she's a Purple Dawg. She's going to probably yield 3-4 ounces, which for me is pretty damned good. That's what I was getting out of my 17 gallon totes.
The Malawi x PCK is swelling. She smells like blueberry muffins tonight. I'm glad I saved a cut of this one. I have a feeling she's going to be a favorite.
The Kerala is just starting to build buds. Beautiful twirls of these long wispy buds. Still hardly any smell on her.
Panama looks like she may finish up in not to long. Her pistols are dying back. There may be another resurgence of pistols and another flowering though. She's at 44 days in the picture and should go 10-12 weeks.

It's awesome to hear your response to the purple dog. Strong, eh? I smoke a lot of the Black Dog. I think you know of it. I wonder how I would respond to the PD smoke... Def indica in the BD LINK. Emerald Headband I think gives a lot of influence from what I read....but this strain is buried in genetics.........deep
Malawi PCK has an incredible looking spiral shape to its primary cola. Perfect. Makes you wonder about this beautiful plant.
Tips on that Panama look like you are running some hot soil?.... also I see some leaf curl on the Ultra Dog. Like you have a fan blowing on them? Or maybe high N? I see it in my girls and I don't think any of those things are a problem....but its there and I see it.???

I've seen Black Dog around in several gardens. Does it have Ultra Dawg in it? I guess that would make sense with the name. I need to find an Ultra Dawg female. I still haven't smoked any yet. It really brought a nice palette of flavors to the cross. They all have the purple smell, but then there's a mixture of other aromas that are creating this super sweet smell.
The Panama is in 2nd run soil, but it's in a little 1 gallon bucket which is pretty small for kit soil. Things could be getting out of balance in the soil at this point. I seem to always get the crispy leaf edges like that in mid to late flower. I've been cutting back on nutrients this cycle to see if that was causing it, but it's still there as you see. I've also seen it happen when I've had a resurgence of mites, but I haven't seen any signs of them in months and have continued weekly treatments. I didn't believe that's the issue. I've cut back even more on the latest ones but it's too early to tell if that's helping. I've been pretty heavy handed with my feeding in the past, especially given that I'm running a lot of landrace genetics. I think that's been the main culprit.
Leaf curl on the Ultra Dawg. Are you talking about the volunteer that ended up being a Purple Dawg? I'm looking through the pictures and I'm not certain I see what you're talking about. I have fans running from all directions in flower and tend to get deformed leaves when the plants sit to close to them.
Thank you Amy. It is very tasty. The sweet berry/root beer smell from the mother has carried over in all of the plants I've grown so far. They've got a much richer flavor now. I have a pretty significant tolerance built up and I still have to be considerate of what I'm going to be doing because the buzz can be stupifying.Totally Bravo Morglie!

Its an awesome looking plant. That top spike is going to be hefty. I need to adjust the angle of my fan next to it, to make sure it's got plenty of airflow for three coming weeks. I took a cutting from down low on it and it's looking like the clone is going to grow out the same way. It's already about 10 inches tall with a beefy stem. The blueberry muffins smell really caught me off guard. I had to do a triple check to make sure I was smelling right. The PCK really brings some nice smells to the mix. I put off popping one for about a year, because I already had so much Malawi going in the garden. I'm glad I finally got around to popping one.
