Mono's Perpetual Soil

While I feel the same way even though I've never grown autos, I'd like to hear your reasons why you prefer photo-period plants over autos.

Having just finished growing auto's I feel they are unable to perform to the standards of photo-period plants. From germination to harvest the auto flowering plants took just over 12 weeks.

Over the 12 weeks there was still no amber trics to be seen, and only 40 grams per plant.

With Photo-period plants over 12 weeks I could have three weeks veg and nine weeks flower. Hitting over two ounces per plant minimum, and plenty of amber trics.

:)

Some pics. Not in any order. And I noticed they don't even show the defol mission haha

maybe the autos just need longer? that defeats the purpose of an "auto" though. plants look great, I love the training.

So basically with autos you really have no control over the grow or the final product, you just get whatever the plant can produce in a given time frame. I can understand the appeal of quick turnarounds with repeatable results, but I'm doing this more for the enjoyment, of the actual grow as well as the results of the grow, than for anything else. I can legally purchase up to an ounce of cannabis yet I choose to grow my own, I think that says a lot right there. I may try autos sometime in the future, but for now I will gladly stick with photo-period plants.

You are bang on with the wait and get what the plant gives you! I planted three seeds of the same strain and got three totally different plants lol.

Nothing more fulfilling than growing cannabis plants :)

till it ambers out. thc is a chemical, it ambers out as long as it's on this planet exposed to our air

Ahh I have never thought about it that way. Is it the same when on the plant? Since cannabis is an annual, it only has a set life span, so after a long enough time it would begin do die once on 12/12, then toward the end of flower would it not hermie in an attempt at reproduction?

I think when a plant is growing and is exposed to light and air, thc increases, but then when a plant is not growing anymore (dying off, still attached to roots, or chopped flowers) thc decreases and ambers when exposed to light and air.

the plant throwing ambers is letting you know that it's about to give up on growing.

THC naturally degrades in to CBN this is why improperly stored bud turns shity.

I see, very interesting stuff! Think I am going to have to do some more reading up on this...
