Mono's Perpetual Soil

Been doing a bit of research on auto-flowering cannabis plants.

Seems that planting directly into pots of around 10 litres gives optimum yield with less wasted soil space. So, thought I would conduct a little experiment -

Using Auto Super Skunk seeds, two have been planted directly into a 10 litre container, with canna terra pro soil, mixed with 15% perlite for drainage. One has been planted directly into a 4 litre deep pot, with 15% perlite.

All plants will be grown in exactly the same way from breaking ground to harvest in an attempt to see if there is much difference in overall yield.

Some sources have said restricting the roots of auto's can lower yield by up-to 50%. Will be interesting to see the results.

:peace:

Uploading photos of the progress so far as we speak :thumb:

Here we go, finally getting this grow started again.

Sorry, no pics of the planting was all done in a hurry this morning

Got the choice of regular seeds for which to germinate next for flowering under the hps.

I will let you guys decide. Choices are -

Pineapple Chunk from Barney's Farm (feminised)
Akorn AKA Snowbud from TH Seeds (feminised)
Sage N Sour from TH Seeds (feminised)
White Widow x Skunk #1 free from Herbies (regular)

I want to veg these until the new year so can take some clones and hopefully find a suitable mother for a bit of sog in the future.

Hey m8, Ive done probably 50-60 autos before I went photo and thank god I did. Sorry just suits my tough style and space. Anyway the best results I got on the whole was with 20 ltr pots. It is strain dependant though on root mass with auto's as far as I found. Example: Barneys farm pineapple express, small root mass every run in bi pots. so ended up growing that strain in 7 ltr pots. Think diff dutch passion 20 litre pots with same veg and soil and nute range filled entire pot with root ball.
If your going big veg for your next go barneys pineapple chunk. Want to see a beast of that one!

Im sure you wont be sad to see the back of those horrible little things. I used to really suffer with them but now I manage temps below 25c they have disappeared. Great idea with the perlite. Do you think aquarium rock would do the same thing and not make as much mess as the lighter perlite? That's a fantastic grow you have going on there. Healthy looking chunky girls!

All five of the seeds have now broken ground so that is a 100% success rate :), I plan on top dressing with perlite once they are large enough as a control against fungus gnats. Although I have not seen any flying around so I may have just managed to get rid of them once and for all haha.

Grats on the sprouts! It's so heartwarming to see them pop up out the dirt

I didn't think about doing that with perlite, but I may after I saw that Gojira-sized fly. Paranoia has landed here :bitingnails: Thanks for the idea!

Thank you very much Dresney.

I agree, nothing better than knowing they have managed to make a successful start in life :)

Perlite is very effective if used at a depth of around an inch. If you want it to be even more effective an inch at the bottom of the pot before filling with compost stops even the most persistent buggers :)

So I extended the vote for seeds to be popped next.

Still stands at two votes for Pineapple Chunk from Barneys Farm and one vote for Snowbud for TH seeds.

Thanks to everyone who voted, you all win we will go with both as I can use the HPS to veg from mid December. Happy days.

So tomorrow I will begin Germinating 3 of the 5 Pineapple Chunk seeds from barneys farm and two snowbud from TH Seeds.
