Mono's 600 Watt HPS Soil Grow 2013

Okay so after working out a few heat issues and adjusting the height of the light everything is set up, temps have stayed at 24.5 degrees Celsius for the past 5 hours so I'm hopping that will be the constant temp now, will keep an eye on it over the next few days. RH is at 35% a little low but not too worried about it, I can always increase it with misting etc if it becomes an issue.

So, the set up was all well and good, however I am having severe difficulty in taking any pictures while the HPS is on, they all come out with black lines across them. I tried on the digital camera and on my mobile, both were of a rather poor quality.

Anyone got any tips on taking pics under a HPS?

Cheers, Mono :)

Okay managed to work through the camera settings and get some semblance of half decent pics. Plants look very small in the bigger tent.

Need a little help here :420:

Today I switched to 12/12. My question is, how do I change over from Veg Nutrients to Flower Nutrients? Should I carry on for a week with veg nutes then swap straight to flowering nutes? Half and half then full flowering? Any other combination?

Hopefully someone will jump in with some tips. Everyone is welcome to get involved with the journal. :peace:

Looks like I'm the only one watching this journal so going to have to do things the old fashioned way. Trial and error.

I decided to water the plants thoroughly with PH balanced water rather than adding any nutes. When they are due their next watering (usually every three days, although with lower RH I guess it may be slightly quicker) I will fertilize them with half strength flowering fertilizer (canna terra flores) to hopefully limit the time in pre-flowering stage.

Does anyone disagree with this?

Hey mono, also newbe but have done a my share of research and I think you want to try and start to lower N,and raise your,P,K.I am also beginning flowering nute change, but I think I have what I need!

I have just been following GH feeding chart and adjusting if needed,so far ,so good.

hey there brother!

your ladies are looking just wonderful my man! very very healthy, not one sign of deficiency or burn- GREAT job! :thumb: if you are concerned you can always do a fresh water flush for a transition to flowering nutrients... or you can just start to feed straight without a flush- it shouldnt hurt your ladies one bit either way.. more a matter of.... efficiency?? the plants will take up nutrient from your soil medium, obviously, so as you begin to add flowering nute they will adapt to the differences in the elements within your nutrients and respond accordingly- doing aflush will just help leech excess N(among other things) from your soil and start with a 'blank canvas' so to speak... to a degree that is :cheesygrinsmiley: what you COULD do- to test for yourself.. is flush 1-2 plants and start flowering nutes and not flush the others... see if there is a discernible difference in response and growth etc.. experience is the best teacher ;]

i'd be interested if you see much in the way of 'flower stretch' too.. as you enter into a flowering light cycle.. if you do it will probably last 2-4 weeks, after which time you should begin to see the stretch slow a bit and the buds start to fill out into lovely looking ladies- voluptuous and full figured- like any beauty should look loL

im subbed mate and look forward to seeing these beauts bloom and fatten up :cheesygrinsmiley:

go hard brother! reps+++ :allgood::goodjob:

ooops! i just looked back and saw your post on flushing! good to take the initiative dude ;] trust your intuition, research topics, study materials, TRUST YOUR INTUITION loL ;]

mate i just used water straight out the tap never phed it or nothing when i was in soil

Nice, I live on a private water supply (way out in the country) and there is a high lead content. The bottled water we get for drinking just happens to balance out at a ph of 6.8 so pretty good lol.

And feel free to put some pics up mate. You north or south in scotland?

Hey, thanks for stopping by. Looks like you are set on the nutes there mate. I'm running canna terra vega and flores, was just trying to find out the best way to transit between veg and flower nutes :)

Thank you very much for your kind words and input my friend it has been very helpful to know I was sort of on the right track with things. :)

A quick update. Plants have now been under the hps for 24 hours. They were looking a little sorry for themselves at first but after a little sleep everything is looking good again. I added in a 4th plant, same strain. I was going to veg her a little longer as she is considerably smaller than the others but felt she may as well just start flowering now since the tent was looking a little bare.

Does anyone have thoughts on un-tieing the string I used for low stress training? Or will it be okay to leave them on during flowering?

Cheers, Mono
