Mono Grows a Pound

The little WW seedling is proving to be a slow starter, dome still over her to keep the seed shell moist and give her the best possible chance at life. I may intervene if all isn't done by tomorrow evening.

Not one plant has had any form of nutrients other than what they have found in the soil, so far its looking like less is more for this round. No sign of needs or deficiencies yet, growth is staying at a rapid rate.

New filter can clean 170 m2 an hour, which is great since the rhino fan I have for extraction pulls 160 m2 an hour on the low setting :). Now the filter is up and running opening a window for some fresh air and temperature control is an option.

As you can probably see from the photos there are a number of holes in the lower part of my tent, which seems to bring in JUST enough fresh air to keep things at a reasonable temperature. What do you guys think, is it worth the extra noise, hassel and electricity to install an intake fan?

My thoughts were an intake would push more air around, and thus out of the 'gaps', reducing the efficiency of the carbon filter. Not sure if it would be pulling in more fresh, co2 rich air in to off set the other variables... HELP! lol

Oops, meant the fan runs not on m2 but m3 lol. After a quick calculation it seems my tent needs a fan capable of pulling 170m3 an hour for a complete air exchange every minute. That seems a little over kill, every minute.

Since the fan pulls 160. Minus a little loss for the carbon filter, I would be guessing this is at least a complete air exchange every two minutes. Do you guys think this is sufficient, or would a bigger filter be worth the investment? No need for a new fan as it can do up to 290 m3 an hour on the highest setting.

Also, since I live in Scotland. And don't want to heat the tent. Fans turn off at the same time as the lights. (all on one timer) Is this going to be harmful to overall yield? (sound like a total noob haha) Was always under the impression that since its not a sealed room, the plants can still breathe. Yet, if a heater and fan on in the evening would see a (substantial) increase in yield, then it may be worth the extra electricity bill.

Pps- Standard Tarrif for us is 16p a unit. About 30 cents usd lol

looking good and tidy :) what soil is that that they haven't needed food yet? you really think I can increase yield with coco? too bad it's so expensive..

replacing the air every two minutes is more than enough if you need the higher temps, it also helps keep in the humidity (don't know if you need that or not, I know i do)..
I have a 6" fan that does over 400cfm and i have to keep it running at 10% because it sucks my tent into itself lol.

Pushing air into it will destroy the negative pressure mate.. Risk of smelly leaks from your awesome garden..
Could you cobble together summin to keep the air vent open, allowing it to be passive ?... Then rely in the main fan to draw it in..

Jsummin like a short length of guttering down tubing..

You know me matey... Pikey skip rat. :laughtwo:

Also awesome regrowth on the exodus cheese mono... Just as i visualised it ..very dense new growth too.. Look forward to seeing her blossom

Hope the parcel guy follows the 3 wise monkeys mantra.

:high-five:

Hey mono I understand yur worry
But like my Mrs said they more than likely wont see anything we have our place in our bedroom,,, an we ad a friend stay for a few days earlier in the summer a proper head Now the Light was on the fan running an he sat in the room for about 10 or more mins talking:loopy: I was almost about to say ah well an he went back downstairs never said a thing ,, it is all tucked up with blankets to keep it warm at night BUT still he never saw it so my point is the delivery man was how long an even if he saw a lil bit it more than likely didnt get to the recognition it in time in his mind:cheesygrinsmiley:I hope it didnt startle you to much that can some times give stuff away :volcano-smiley: Best of luk an another wonderful show of super healthy plants :cheer:

Hey B! I use canna terra professional soil, its not too hot. I think its really due to the pot size giving them plenty of nutes. I do honestly think coco would increase your yields. Since you have everything else dialled in the coco will allow the roots more oxygen to the roots, plus a heavier feeding schedule.

Is it more expensive with you? Canna coco is the same price as canna soil, sometimes a little cheaper :)

Thanks for the info buddy, its good to know that there is sufficient ventilation running in the tent. Now the filter is connected I can crack the window open a little to lower the temps a bit on milder days.

Ahh that would be much easier, and cheaper than buying and connecting a intake fan. I have some ducting off cuts lying around so will have a go at sticking them in one of the socks. The tent itself isn't the most sealed since holes have been cut over the years I've owned it lol.

Thank you for the kind words, sir. I am very pleased at the way these girls are growing. Need to do a good training session to open them up a little, have been neglecting them somewhat. Which they strangely seem to enjoy.

Fingers crossed he didn't see too much. That said, I'm not too sure that a tip off alone is enough for a knock at the door, although not sure haha. Good thing I have no weed to smoke at the moment or I may be a little paranoid..
hope all is well with you matey :)

Thank you very much for the reassurance buddy. I don't think he could have seen too much, bit I suppose you never know. Fortunately it was Mrs Mono who answered the door, always cool as a cucumber haha. Mono shall not be deterred though, the grow shall go on lol.
