Micro Grow

I’ve got my QB in the same space as my Perfect Sun COB, they both do a very good job but I like my QB the best. They both produce top shelf meds. I’m thinking about going Timber cobs for my next purchase, I’ve ran my ps cob for 5-6 runs I believe so I’m wanting to upgrade soon but I need to get another grow or two out of my current setup if I can.✌️

Haha I known how that goes. Lighting is addicting! Well that's great news and I cant wait for them to come in to see the difference from this low watt blurple. Im hoping the qb will be better then the cobs I built. Really excited to try the UVA strip out. Just not sure how I'm going to mount it up, the UVA strip may have to go on a wall and wont face down on the plants but should reflect off the walls and hit the plants I think. Lots of red in the rspec light and the far red peaks in the 730nm so lots of read for flower but the panel also has a good amount of blue. Think this spectrum will be better then anything I've used so far. Very excited for the upgrade.

Decided to try vegging a few weeks so I popped the 4 seedlings in my vegetable tent, will start some micro greens too.

Then the plants will be getting plain water once they are a bit more thirsty

Thanks tb! Been a while how is everything?

Oh man buying is the worst but actually found a decent place a few days ago with good prices for the time being. Even across the street from work and they have a dab bar. Great after one of those long days. These buds tho, aw man smell so good. I think this box will end up working out in terms of output and my input.

I just checked that out and the prices seem right! I'll have to see how they perform. one day when I have a spare room I'll be up and running full scale again so those qb would be a nice option.

Here they are right after getting water.

Protekt, AN Bloom Connoisseur, and bud candy. AN big bud will be in on Thursday.

Hey Rich! :ganjamon: nice light upgrades!
They're looking damn good in there and seem to be growing at a good pace. I'm really looking forward to see what kinda yield you pull outa this box :yummy: looking great so far! A couple strains i have not heard of too so that's exciting.

There stacking absolutely lovely those mate :).

Thanks high, I'm excited to see how dense they get. Lights should be in tomorrow, I cannot wait to get them all in and hopefully that will make a bigdifference from this light.

Hey irie, thank you! I cant wait to get them all assembled. gotta now figure out placement for the uv. probably not shinning directly at the plants but figure they will still get a good dose. Also gotta find a new place for the fan.

I cant wait to see either but will probably yield more next time just because I have a better understanding now for growing in the box.

Some strains were gifts, I cant wait to try them and will probably make seeds with them. others were freebie seeds I have from purchases. My seed stock is getting to be a few years old and I want to start turning it over.

The QB dont have uv or a lot of far red. the rspec qb I got has a good amount of deep red. So I got a far red that peaks in the 730nm and the UVA light.

The UVA is big enough for a 4x4 space and also due to space limits I will have it mounted on the wall not shinning down on the plants.

Its supposed to increase trichs and possibly help with bugs and molds. I have more reading to do on the subject but UVA bulbs are wildly available. pm'd

Some great info on UVA vs UVB

"In Cannabis plants, exposure to UVA vs UVB light increases production of THC and CBD. There is some confusion caused by a 1987 study by John Lydon, Alan Teramura and C. Benjamin Coffman titled "UV-B Radiation Effects on Photosynthesis, Growth and Cannabinoid Production of two Cannabis sativaChemotypes". The study grew Cannabis plants and exposed some to UVB light and others to no UV light at all, finding increased THC concentrations for the plants exposed to UVB compared to the plants not exposed to UV lights for plants at all.

Some people have interpreted this to mean that only UVB light increases the production of THC in Cannabis plants, but this study does not demonstrate that. First, the study was not designed to test exposing Cannabis plants to UVA light- only UVB or no UV at all, so nothing can be concluded from the study about whether UVA affects THC production in Cannabis. Secondly, the study's setup was flawed and really only tested whether exposing Cannabis plants to both UVB and UVA increased THC production compared to no UV light at all, because the cellulose acetate filter they used in an effort to eliminate UVA light from their broad-spectrum UV source was later shown by a different study to allow UVA light to pass through. So the original study only showed that exposure to both UVA and UVB light increased THC production compared to no UV, but not whether UVA or UVB (or the combination) was responsible.

From our own research grows, Black Dog has demonstrated that UVA light alone can increase THC and CBD production in Cannabis plants. The combination of UVA and UVB light (from a standard "reptile bulb" fluorescent light) also increases THC and CBD production, but the inclusion of UVB in the light has noticeable detrimental effects on plant growth compared to only UVA."

That’s really interesting!
Thanks for that Rich - I’ll have to read into UVA & UVB lighting a bit more!

Absolutely helps, its like there SUN-SCREEN.
I use UVA/B T5s and can actually see the parts of the grow that are closes to
the UV Bulbs are without a doubt more frosty.

I had set up my last grow with a high amount of UV since I was growing African Strains.
BTW Malawi has very high UV Levels

The strength of the sun's ultraviolet (UV) radiation is expressed as a Solar UV Index or Sun Index. The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around the summer solstice). Indices of 9 and 10 are common in the Mediterranean area. The Sun Index forecast refers to the daily maximum.

It all in and I cant wait to get it going. Will have to wait a few days, the UVA board is like an inch too long. May end up in a 2x2x4 tent which will be a big upgrade from the box. If I decide to go with the tent, I will wait to put the light in. Otherwise I'll just mount the strip from the outside. I'm really excited to add uv. Something I've wanted to play with for a while now

Ended up going with the 2x2x4... perfect for the QB135. Should all be set up by next week.

Will be moving to 1gal pots and adding veg time to the plants before flower. The 2x2x4 should allow me to increase my yield with roughly the same space used. So once that's in the qb the UV and the far red will go in. Very excited! Feels so good to be growing again.

Oh hey gaz! Thanks for the info. That is great news! The strip I have is rated for 4x4 space so I will hang it still so it is facing a wall but I'll run it the full 12 with the rest of the lights. I hope yo see a difference, supposed to make trichs appear sooner I guess. Very excited to incorporate that with the far red

I am sure there will be a benefit. I also use the Far-Red but only for 15 min to put them to sleep,
I use a 15 min flash of 660nm to Wake them up.

Its either a fade into Blue or out of Blue that marks The difference between day and night
and the plants use it to tell time. Morning is a flash of 660nm that signals its time to wake up
and then at night its the Far-Red that tells them its the end of the day.
