This is my first grow, Im using my closet to grow, you can see my set up HERE , pretty ghetto, I know. I plan on using LST on these plants to maximise my yield.

I just potted my 2 clones that I got from Born & Raised here in SD, so here are some photos:
Both clones potted

Both clones about 1' under the lights (should I move them closer? I heard clones can be sensitive to light so Im keeping them further away right now)

Close up of White's growth coming out of the cube I got it in (Should I worry about this? Thinking of LSTing it in the opposite direction as the main stalk)

Couple Nute questions:
Should I start now? I've read that FFOF has some nutes in it so I don't need to start right away, but the nute guide says to start right away (although I think it's for seeds).

Strengths are per gallon, does each nute need a separate gallon of water or can I use one gallon of water with all three nutes mixed in?

Thanks for stopping by and reading! I'll post again in a few days with an update, till then :roorrip:

I would say three maybe four weeks till you need nutes. I wish I could tell you for sure how long but I myself am in my first grow also using FFOF I transplanted my colens on Nov. 14 no nutes yet and they seem to be doing fine you can check out my grow if you want to see.

It all depends on the soil mix you're using on when you'll need to add nutes. Just make sure you're using PH'd, chlorine free water. Watch the plants they will tell you when they want something to eat. :)

:goodluck:

PBRMJ, nice grow, I'll be following for sure :reading420magazine:

Hogley, I'm double filtering my tap through my brita, good enough?

Little update: Temp seems to stay around 80 now, and humidity is down around 40%, I moved the lights much closer to the clones, about 3 inches away now, I'm thinking of starting LST next monday, a week after transplanting them (as long as they seem healthy)

Not sure what a brita is but the chlorine in the tap water needs to evaporate out if the brita doesn't filter it out, usually letting it sit out over night will do it, and do you know what the PH reading is of your tap water?

What's up MaxPat, looks like you are on your way, and don't worry about what your set up looks like, if it works who the heck cares. DO NOT start to feed your plants anything for at least 4 weeks, probably longer. There is plenty of food in your soil at this point. Also I would be careful on the watering. Make sure your soil dries out somewhat before you water again. I use the weight method which is lifting the pot to see how light it is before I water, but the plants will tell you when they are thirsty. Good job lowering those lights, but I would lift them up to 4 to 6 inches but that's just me. I don't think they need to be 3 or less inches away from those little babies.

Take what I say with a grain of salt of course, I am no expert just a little of what I have learned in the little time I have been doing this. Good luck, should be fun to watch.... + rep

Well, it's been a week since I planted the girls and I tied them down today, it's been a few hours and they have already reacted to the change, reaching for the lights.

Which reminds me, I changed my light set up a little bit, cut up a foil pan and "mounted" the 6 outlet surge protector into it, and I have the three light on a surge protector just resting on a bucket. The lights are about 6-7" from the girls.

Here are the girls, these were taken right after I LST'd them.

Marge seems to have another branch that may start growing as if she were topped (my theory, but I'm new to this). Also I have noticed that the tips of the leaves have dead spots on them (indicative of Potassium deficiency if I'm correct?) the newer leaves dont really have large spots, or any at all so I think it was just a problem I inherited from the person who took the clones, but I'll be on the look out to see if the problem progresses. I think this shot shows it best with new leaves and an old leaf.

Thanks for stopping by, any feedback is welcome :)

Max as far as the yellowing your seeing I had the same kinda thing happen when I first put mine into the FFOF I was told the soil was too hot for the little clones. They pulled out of it very quick so I would think that could be your case as well. I would get a second opinion as I'm very new but I think if your ph is in on than you should be not be having any lockout or deficiency issues I would think someone correct me if I'm wrong in my thinking.

Hi Max, welcome to 420 mag! Your babies are looking very sweet! Keep on the lookout for bugs.... I am a little paranoid :) since having gnats recently and almost lost my girl! You have to be pro active if you see any little tiny gnats flying around. Well I am gonna get a seat down front and follow your grow!!

PBRMJ - They seem to have come out of it, looking healthier and greener everyday :grinjoint:

Tmac - :thanks: for coming by, I think I saw a gnat (some flying bugger) today, squashed it ASAP, but what can I use to keep them away? Sonic pest device? natural spray?

Sonzor - :thanks: It's my first time growing anything, really enjoying it so far. One of the most fun things for me is explaining everything that is going on with the girls to the few people the know about this grow irl

I feel like I might as well add a photo every post, why not? Here are the girls:

They lay eggs in the bottom holes of your pots and in the top of the soil. The larva/tiny maggots that hatches feeds on organic material and your roots. More damage to the roots means the plant will get them from the leaves..everything starts to turn yellow.

You need to put out some sticky yellow strips. That will tell you if you have a problem.
I never had luck with no pest strips. They were present when I got the gnats.
I tried covering my dirt with sand, nada,
tried DE covering the top and around the holes on the bottom of the pot...killed quite a few but barely keeping up
drenched with neem oil, killed quite a few but....again not keeping up. They hatch out ever 3-5 days.
drenched with permetrol..... and that seemed to help alot, but not that great of stuff.
I ordered some azamax, it came today, just as I started spotting some new gnats flying around... so at this time have treated with that.
Good Luck

Well, I did my second round of LSTing yesterday, couldn't get around to posting due to finals, but better late than never. I used bent paper clips for this one. I'm getting worried that the girls' growth might be getting too crowded in the pots, and Im wondering if I should transplant them into the bigger pots I have to let them air out a little and Im going to have to soon anyway.

Haven't seen any bugs since the first one I smashed luckily :smokin: knock on wood.

I transplanted the girls into larger pots yesterday, they were taking water everyday for 4 days so I figured it was time. There were some roots around the edge of the pot/dirt when I took them out of their old homes, so I think I did it at just the right time. Have a look, I added pictures of their trunks to show the growth down there too :yummy:

Now Im concerned a little about nutes, I transplanted them into more FFOF so should I wait longer to give them nutes, will this new mixture of old FFOF and new FFOF be bad? I guess there isn't much I can do about it now, exept flush if need be and then start with the nute I brought, right?

Whats up MaxPat, I was going to comment that it look like you have plenty of time to transplant into bigger pots but you already did it. Plants look very nice and no you do not have and should not add any nutes for a while. Plants will tell you when. Looking very nice and healthy, great job..
