Melville's Doug's Varin Winter Grow

Mel you are doing a really good job with this journal. It’s easy to follow and informative.

If you are interested in free stuff, my advice, not that you asked, you should contact the sponsors. They actually donate product and seeds for good journaling.

I’ve actually been asked a few times to do sponsored runs but I’m waaaaaaay to uncouth. It would land me in permanent trouble. But I think you would do a great sponsored journal.
I had my foot in the door until they found out I couldn’t assemble a free light. Hahaha.
But I agree Mel has his journal rocking.

Thanks for the vote of confidence!
I was under the impression that the sponsors mostly approached growers, not the other way around.

Thanks!

I'll look into it. They'd probably want to wait until they see how this grow goes before taking the risk though. My next grow will also be outdoors, so changing environments. But it's definitely something worth looking into.

Yeah they do.

But I have seen people in here ask and receive.

I did move a couple of tie-downs, and a carhook. And I watered her. I also removed a couple of leaves from the underside of the canopy. Just the ones touching the soil that were getting water on them, and a couple of yellow ones that weren't getting any light. I also raised the light another 5 cm. I'm pretty sure that yellow leaf in the centre of the canopy is from light stress. We'll see if it gets any worse. Given its position it should be covered by new growth soon anyway.

Mars Hydro approached me as has ViparSpectra. However, I asked Herbie's to sponsor me and I was also one of the growers in the Weedseedsexpress Girl Scout Cookie sponsored grows.

I think sponsors like to see what you've done before they sponsor you. When I approached Herbie's, I provided them links to 5 of my grow journals including the sponsored one.

I wonder how many phenotypes there are?
I was thinking that if the indica characteristics turned out to be dominant in flower as well, that I might be able to run her outdoors this summer, but if there are several phenos there could be one with a longer flowering time.
Guess I'm jumping to conclusions a bit, lol. Whatever the case may be I'm happy with how this grow has gone so far, and excited to see what we all get!

Well, she's fighting the training, lol.
The carhook on the right has been pulled loose. I moved it, and put it at an angle after taking the pics. That branch is now going in the right direction again. She liked the raising of the lights. I should've been paying a bit more attention. I got too focused on having tight internodes and was treading the line for how much intensity she could take.
After this grow I will be looking at upgrading my light. Get something with both an on/off switch and a dimmer, lol.
Luckily after the seedlings go out this spring I'll have until next October or November to decide what to get.

She's really drinking well. Guess that's the upside to humidity in the mid 30s, lol.
Ten more days to flip. I'll be adding one more set of tie downs to the top branches, then I'll probably just let her do her own thing. I might spread her branches a bit when she's in flower, but only if she needs it for better light penetration.

By the way, I've got my lineup for the summer picked out. Skywalker OG, Jack Herer, and Jack the Ripper. Plans may change, but I've been coming back to these 3 over and over, so I figure my subconscious is trying to tell me something. For plant number 4, if I have a clone of DV going, that'll be her spot. Otherwise it's a choice between White Widow, a DV seed, or Black Amnesia Haze (fast).

Oh man White Widow is a fave of mine but so is Amnesia

I love the original Amnesia a lot. The JHxC99xSkunk version sometimes has too much skunk in it. I don't much like the high I get from Skunk. It's uncomfortable, kind of rough. Makes me feel kind of like there's a flexed muscle in my chest that I can't relax.
Last time I grew an Amnesia it was a fast version based off of that hybrid, and had that same feeling.
Amnesia Haze has always felt like a stronger version of the original Amnesia though, and mixing that with Black Domina sounds amazing.
White Widow is a favourite too, and it's always popular with my friends and family who partake, so it's a bit of a dilemma.

I have a white widow /gorilla glue cross that just broke the soil. I can’t wait to try the strain. Sounds very nice!

Plant is looking great Mel. So healthy and vibrant. Great work sir!

Thanks!
WW/GG does sound good!

Your drowning me with likes Bro!!! Haha. Hope you enjoy my lil Corner. I’m a NEWB so take it easy on me.

Lol, it's happened to me a couple of times so far.
I thought I had set your journal to watch after I first visited, but apparently I didn't. Just catching up now!

Are you getting any issues due to the low humidity in the tent?

I  Jack Herer. @Virgin Ground loves the Skywalker OG, I think and I know nothing about the Jack the Ripper but I'm assuming it's Jack Herer crossed with something else?

I'm disappointed with the Amnesia auto I grew. I haven't had a decent high from it yet.

The Amnesia bred by The Plant has the terpene profile that works best for me and it's a cross of Jack Herer and Cinderella '99. I know Jack Herer works for me and I'm planning on growing C99 this summer so if it works for me then I can only assume the strain bred by The Plant would work for me.

I have White Widow seeds, too and was thinking about growing them next winter.

My Amnesia was straight Ammy not a Haze and a photo not an auto. Killer smoke.

I have some seeds I'm sitting on now with Black Domina in its genes and skunk...

I'd do the Amnesia Black Domina mix...if it was me lol
