Medscientist's Outdoor Lab 2024

have you tried this for the ants?
make a mixture of one part dish soap to two parts water, along with several drops of peppermint oil
Thanks con ❤️

I would consider that in other circumstances, but the thought of having to spend more time hand picking them off the Budz again, called for pulling out the Big Guns and Nuking those Basterds DEAD! Instantly! DEAD!

Sorry! I might have gotten carried away there for a second! 🤔 Does that Kill them, or just deter?

the soap will dehydrate them & the peppermint will suffocate them

Absolutely. I wouldn't of done this well if I didn't take a scientific approach.
Yeah, I'm not sure if it is You, or some unseen Phenomenon going on in your yard! ❤️
Just keeping the brain up and running, plus all the best weed on the planet!

It was flying ant day here two days ago! Buggers are just a PITA!
I read they only last a few days, I guess mine didn't get the Memo!

I would use that inside the tent. Is it plant safe?
Nah, just that aphids seem less like one of the plagues!
❤️ Phew! 👍

You had me on the edge of my seat!
I thought aphids had a negative impact on the girls?

not to sure if it would be, would have to do some research on the peppermints effect on plants

They do and I kill them, but they never seem like they have some biblical implications!
Even though I get All the Lemonade I can drink, never more, the only Biblical implications I perceive is how Blessed I am! Things could have been worse! ❤️

And when they do, I know a guy that Usually knows the solution! 😜

❤️ I think I like the nighttime flash pics! You can see the Budz much betterer!

I ❤️ how well she is doing! I think I will give her a Flower res change and flip to 12/12 tomorrow. She has liked the 75% @ 19, now about 18 inches.

Inside is looking much better than "MEDIUM" and outside is flowering like crazy. :thumb:
2Funny!

It took a couple reviews to figure "MEDIUM" out! ❤️ Hahaha

It's hard to tell during the day, but flash pics showcase the Budz!

I have been putting alot of time going through totes in the storage room to make room for a tent. Getting rid of old junk, consolidating and categorizing blah, blah, blah... making alot of progress.

❤️ Last night, I checked on my SideChick and didn't really see much growth. So I scooped out some res, and poured it through the Turface to wet the roots. I did notice the res was down about 2 inches below the bucket line. Today I walked in and saw This!

I cleaned her up again, removing stuff that would eventually be removed, left some questionable stuff. There are various sized nodes (not the Mains) that I will watch to see if any become viable, so I know which ones to snip In future grows.

I brought the Mains lower by adjusting the wires, and switched to 12/12. I would normally give them a few days to recover before flipping, but the whole idea of keeping this Cutting (SideChick), was to learn new things, so I'm changing things up!

The ViparSpectra xs1500pro is set at 75% @ ~17 inches. ❤️

Ha! Everytime she gets dressed you undress her again! :Rasta:

As I get ready to prepare a New res to start 12/12 for My SideChick, I am reminded how easy nute management is in a Turface Swick (PPK).

On July 25, I mixed 5 gallons for my 7 clones in this...

1726931040895.png

Aside from increasing the ppm's by adding dry nutes to the existing res, no water was added. This res lasted 51 days. I did not check ph the entire time, because the plant didn't show any signs that I needed to.

On August 26, I built the single Turface Swick and started her out with a fresh res filled just below the plant bucket. Once or twice a week, I would wet the Turface by using its own res. Again, no changes, ph checks, or additions till now. I could just add 2 inches of nutes to bring the level back up to the bucket, but I will prepare a fresh res for optimal results. 25 days same res.

REMINDER: Nute mix is the same for Veg and 12/12. 1 Tablespoon each of Jacks Hydroponics and Calcium/Nitrate per 5 gallons Tap water (~100 ppm).

From now, I will mix 5 gallons and add some every day or 2 to keep the level just under the plant for maximum growth.

Since Turface doesn't allow pooling, overwatering is not a concern. Roots stay in the container and Don't grow into the res, so pumps and airstones are NOT needed, totally passive! ❤️

I am Convinced that this style for growing is among the Easiest ways, and Simple enough for Noobies to Master quickly! Without complicated Nute schedules, you can focus on Environment and Plant training.

Matter of Fact... I Believe the only Easier System would be My vPPK. Which would incorporate a pump to continually Top feed every couple hours. Which would eliminate the need for me add every day or 2, and reduce the need for Res management to once a week +/-, just adding nutes to keep the pump covered.

BUT, doing so would not allow me to grow a small tabletop plant! ❤️

your system seems simple enough & your results proves that it works well, have you ever tried a 90 degree LST with the Turface?

❤️ YES! That is exactly what I did to My SideChick! I wanted to train her low, but instead of topping her and waiting for her to grow lower nodes, I bent her over just above the second node, which was outgrowing the main.

It may not be as pretty, but it WORKS! ❤️

Nice recovery after a night of stripping, and the greenhouse is loaded with flowers! How much warmer is it at night than the air outside of it?
❤️ Thanks! I am Happy with the way things are working out so far.

The tent is not sealed, with 6 windows open, and 2 box fans set to medium, so it is probably close to the same? Maybe slightly warmer because is doesn't exchange air quickly.
