Mechanic's Log: WW, AK-47, FFof Soil, Screw-In LEDs

A couple pics for the night.

The AK test subjects are really green. No more nitrogen for them most likely. Except for what’s in the soil. I got a decent pic after lights out.

So I figured out when I flipped my ladies...

The first day of 12/12 for the AK test subjects was 07/08/19.

So today they are on day 14 of the flowering light cycle. They started showing pistils a few days ago but I don’t know exactly when. So I would say we are about 4 days into actual flowering mode... 6.5 to 8.5 weeks till harvest. This strain is suppose to have an actual flowering time of 7 to 8 weeks. That’s after they show pistils, not from when you flip the lights. So if it goes 9 weeks from when I flipped the lights I’ll feel pretty good. Here’s a pic from this morning.

The ladies in the bigger screw in led tent started their 12/12 light cycle on 07/13/19.

So they are on day 9 of 12/12. I definitely see bud sites forming but no pistils yet. I think later tonight I might see some hopefully, that would mark the start of flower and like @N420 mentioned ill have something to compare to next time I flip. I’ll give the ladies 36 hours of darkness before 12/12 next time and if this knocks the start of flower down by a few days I’d be really impressed. And I would say it’s obviously worth it. Here are a couple of pics.

Lots of bud sites coming in you are using your space well:welldone:

I would like to see how the 24hrs of dark before the flip works out for you. It's another reason to tune in to your next journal.

The vertical grow thing has me very intrigued never heard of that before should be fun to see how it turns out

Thank you, I hope I can manage to keep everything in order after the stretch is all done. Haha.

And don’t take too many notes on this vertical round. I was forced into it, but I’m still really excited about it.

After the test subjects finish their round I plan a really nice proper vertical grow. I can’t wait for that.

So I have an interesting update I think.

I looked back at when all of my ladies were watered, and how long they have taken each time to dry out.

Ive only really kept track since they have been in the 5 gallon pots, but its interesting to see that right after transplant from the 1 gallon pots to the 5 gallon it took 9 to 10 days to dry out. (I wasn’t exactly sure of the right date on this one)

Then they took 6 days to dry out.

Now I just watered them tonight so that’s 5 days to dry out. I’m trying to build a good root system with wet and dry cycles so it’s kinda nice to see that progress. It makes sense that as the plants grow they use more and more water. So now i have an idea of the furthest they can go without a watering. Except they are still growing so logic would tell me that they will probably need water sooner than the time before. Maybe 4 days this time.?
Simple thinking here just wanted to log it. Haha.

So anyway WW#1 was the most dry and she got to the point that just a few of the lowest fan leafs started to wilt. I could tell right when I opened the tent at 7pm today that she was not happy, so I picked her up and said hello. She was light and I saw the start of the wilt. This will be probably be the last time I let her dry out that much cuz I don’t think it’s good in flower. But there aren’t any buds yet so maybe she can go thru one more full dry cycle. I may have to do some more reading. Or if anyone has an idea let me know.

But anyways just Incase the soil does dry out again... read what’s below. ;)

Here’s something I think is important, at least for me or anyone who may be a little lazy. Haha. Usually I do a good defoliation and lollipop before flower but my last grow I left some fan leafs on the bottom of the plant for no reason really. I think my favorite WW would have died if I didn’t leave the leafs on the bottom like I did. I came home one day and all the fans I left on the plant that would normally get cut off during a lollipop we’re wilted but the rest of the plant looked mostly ok.

If I didn’t see the wilt on the lower part I would have thought everything was ok and the plant would have died by the next day I think.

So now this can easily be avoided by lifting the pot and getting use to how much it should weigh wet and dry but like I said....LAZY... so anyway moral of the story is leave some on fan leafs on the bottom of the plant if you want an almost too late/last minute warning sign built right into your plants. The lowest leafs are the first to wilt so why not keep them low low...

:thumb:

I must add tho that eventually the lowest fan leafs will die if there not getting any light. And that’s fine I wouldn’t waste any more light on them but when they are there they can be utilized.

I’ll post how I fed my ladies tomorrow probably. For now... just a few pic to end the night.

I had the plants out of the tent but I was rushing to beat lights out time and get my watering done so I only got a few decent pics.

Hello everybody...

I see pistils on the 4 ladies.... boo yeah. Haha. I did not take any pictures tho because I was rushing to get out of the house today. So anyway today is day 10 of 12/12 and the official first day of flower. Looks like 8 to 9 weeks to go for the White Widow strain and hopefully 7 to 8 weeks for the AK keeper.

I’ll take pics later.

So as i promised yesterday here’s what my ladies got watered with last night.

I used 4 gallons of water between the (5) five gallon pots....(6 plants)... haha.

The first 3 gallons of water each contained 5ml calmag, 5 ml seaweed plant food, 5ml liquid karma and 5 ml Earth Juice High Brix Molasses.
I watered the all plants with this 3 gallon batch first then waited for the run off to get soaked back up by the soil.

The 4th and final gallon was also shared by all 5 pots and it contained 5ml calmag, 5ml Roots Organic HPK, 5ml liquid karma, and 5ml of the high Brix molasses.

I forgot to mention earlier in my journal that I used the molasses a few times my last grow, and I think I’ve used it once this grow when the plants were in 1 gallon pots. I don’t really know how beneficial it is to my soil or plants but I know it can’t hurt to use a little here and there. It is suppose to increase microbial activity in the soil and it contains 1% potassium. I’m going to do more research and see how much I should be using. The site says between 1TSP(5ml) and 4TBSP(60ml) but if anyone has experience with this product please let me know. I’m tempted to use it every watering but i didn’t do that last round for some reason. Maybe I’ll just use it for teas and finally brew my own. I really want to before my next watering is due. We will see. Haha.

I used the Roots Organic HPK pretty heavily last round (in flower) and I think it really helped my buds fatten up. I don’t think the FFOF would be able to do that on its own. The HPK has an “NPK” ratio of
0-4-3.

Great photos!

Damn just walked in the door from work here not long ago. Showered up and now I’m sitting on the couch with my daughter leaning on my chest. Watching Dora the explorer  lol well, she’s watching it. I’m, well doing this hahaha

Thank you...

And at least your daughter is not forcing you to watch it. She just needs your company.

Hearing it was all I needed! Haha :laughtwo:
Hahahah.... isn’t that the truth. Although, it could be a good thing if you don’t already speak Spanish. You might pick something up subconsciously and surprise yourself one day when you belt out a sentence in Spanish. Haha.

That would actually help me at work, I find there’s a lot of Spanish people working in my trade.

I’m actually blown away, my daughter will on occasion say, “hola Dad!” But she’s got a lil boy and girl at her day care, that her mom speaks Spanish so It’s a matter of time before my daughter learns it :laughtwo: I barely know English yet alone throwing Spanish into the mix. :laughtwo:
