McLoadie's Third Grow Journal

:woohoo: Hey MC... I just now seen that you were back. The plants are looking great, and growing well in their new digs. This past summer will forever be a thought of a living hell. With the sudden heat wave we had here in the great southwest. I needed some motivation to start the next grow, running out of nug sure does motivate one for sure. The colors and the over all healthy look of your garden is just fantastic. Like I said. I have been a little slow to get going. But I wish I would have subb'd onto this grow from the beginning. I always learn or just pick something up from your grows... Nice to see you back buddy.

Rock n roll mango!, yep, it gets pretty darn hot here, and this is what we have to work with!....LOL. Next years outdoor should be lovely, I have some great ideas for managing the severe conditions as well as can be. I have no doubt that we can grow some significant trees down here......If we align ourselves with the fundamentals. It is a challenge, but I had enough success last summer that I'm investing a shitload of money and work for the next season. Good to see you around....BTW, how far south are you?, I need to get a nice globe and do some geographic calculations and try to iron out some generalities about latitude and longitude in relation to growing conditions....and which strains are likely to be more acclimated to our extreme environment.

~ I have been looking into different strains, per say long. and lat. and relation to the equator as well. Here in southern Nevada we have arid desert conditions. temp's can rise and fall pretty drastically. However this is a high altitude plateau desert. Resembling that of Afghanistan the most. I just don't know what would be the best course of action, for breeding and such just yet. I think this is a area I hope more of the experienced growers address in the future. I believe that we are just scratching the surface on what we can do, and learn. That will make our green tree of life even that much better in the future.Keep up the great work my friend. And keep us posted on your adventure into the ... garden of Eden. :Namaste:

~ just a quick note... The best advice I ever got for growing our high value crop. Was from my green friend Mcloadie. He told me,
" Hey Mango, the plants looking great. Now keep your big mitts off her."... thanks MC .. that was truly the best advice, all the way around.~

~ just do your part, and let the plant do hers. And keep your big mitts of her. ~ :adore:

Yep, those are pk's, the ballasts have those little rubber thingys. One thing you can't see is the 24" fan on the floor. I think they'll be ok...I'll get some temp readings. At some point I plan on getting an infrared thermometer....the point and shoot type.
Those are sweet, doesn't the harbor freight have one that isn't too crappy. Just north of ya an hour? Or is there one closer? Wish there was one here for some of their stuff, gotta be careful you get what you pay for. Hows the reservoir sitch going mc?

Thanks for the comments mango, it's funny, but the majority...by a mile..... of what I work with are kushs, I like em, and they seem to like me. If you want to play with some of my genetics let me know in a pm.

Probly does bid, but I go to the senior center second hand store and get all kinds of fans, humidifiers...most anything I need in that category. Until I bump it up huge......and I would go with new or previously used in pro setups ( big items ) I try to keep the costs down. I would really like two of the 48 inchers that they sell and put em in the end of a huge tunnel rig!

OK, I may end up rambling a bit here, but I have a lot of things to mention that are pertinent and it's not fair not to tell you the rest of the storey...as paul Harvey would say! I mentioned that my plants were overnuted, and it's quite obvious from the pics, so now I'll explain how it happened and what it means at this point. I started using a dr earth product I've never used before, the bottle said to mix two ounces per gallon of water and I did that and never read the rest of the instructions. The rest of the instructions said that the plants were to get 2 cups each of this mixture, and the rest of the regular amount would be to wash the two cups in.....LOL.....I mixed that shit up full strength, and applied the entire 6 cups to each plant and walked away. SO, what that means is that they got a triple dose! The good news, I saw my screw up after the plants were having an adverse reaction to the application. I'm not one to flush pots, I hate the thought of washing my valuable nutrients out of the bottom of the pots. After the screw up was noticed, I gave two applications of water and molasses. I will tell you that my blunder will cost me, a five day stall is five days that they coulda been building fruit. The plants still look overnuted, but they are growing quickly and despite all the issues with ths run, I'm still going to be recompensed, and ALL the upgrades will be paid for...along with more! Never give up til you lost it completely...or it would be cheaper and more fruitful to start over, which I have done once.....due to allowing someones advice to override my own common sense......I was sold a faulty product.....dead nematodes that were supposed to kill the fungus gnats, and by the time I had waited for them to work the gnats ate my shit til it could be replaced faster than it could possibly recover. I'm saying now that I'm going to replicate s1ingblades methods grow after next. He is a good friend and brother, and this will be a good exercise for us all to see how people work together and how a completely different style and method goes about being implemented between growers. I am told that a great deal of research that will come into play in this future work has been developed by the capn, and I want to acknowledge his work and influence in this endeavor. It's going to cost abit, when we can scrimp and save we will...and when we can't we will spend! Have a great day, I love you all...peace!

Have a great day MC and bring me some wild trout haha

48 inch what? Fans? Ifs so they'd be great for the greenhouse im hoping to build later. Might be a bit big for your new bloom room :)

Take two of those big ass fans, put em at the end of a tunnel, hang a breathable cloth from the other end and soak it with water and you have a cooled tunnel greenhouse. We used to get a 20 degree drop, but IDK how good it would work when it got real humid. That's in a greenhouse of course......and it used cooler pads.......and the fans were mounted and sealed in the suction end.

glad you're back McL

The new digs sound pretty sweet!

I'll second your sentiment about how cool Sl1ng is. :thumb:

It's the type of folks we find at :420: that help restore one's faith in humanity. :Namaste:

Current and past 24hr conditions.......just fyi.

I'm pretty pleased with the side buds, they are plump and hard and I hope they will grow a lot bigger in the next three weeks.

The style and configuration of this grow is outlined in jorges' book. I know I could've topped these plants......but this is an example of lotsa plants in a small space......with absolutely no manipulation.

This grow will be five weeks since the flip on Thursday. A pleasing note is that the pistils are still all white........which is a first for me at this point in flower, I think it absolutely has to do with the hps light. I watered/fed this morning, 50/50 tap/ro water.....and the normal flowering dose of dr earth golden bloom. PPM was at 780..........the overdose that I gave them two weeks ago was 2000! I still have hope for this run to produce, simply on the condition of the pistils and the rapid growth I'm seeing. Good weed to all!

Hi, Mac! :ciao:

I'm subbing now and getting caught up as I can. I think after adding your journal I have about 2000 pages of journals left to read to be caught up to where I want to be. People post faster than I can read it all :laughtwo:

My temps and humiditiy are similar to yours. That makes me happy!

Should I buy that book and read it?

Your ladies are mouth-watering. And I'm happy to see plants with no manipulation. I was scared to do much to mine and I wonder what they could have been like without tinkering with them. Thanks for this :thumb:

They are going to keep getting fatter looking all healthy like that.

Are you giving them any sugars yet?

Yeah, I've been giving them around a half a tbsp./gal. of molasses.......when I give em water only. I'm contemplating one more dose of veg food....like a half dose. They are beginning to lighten up on the bottom....but I am at 5 weeks Thursday. What do you think shotta?, one more dose of veg or no? I just have a coupla more nute applications before they get cut off completely....then one week half ro and half tap.......with molasses at 1 tbsp./gal water, then the final week will be r/o only. An interesting note; while I was in cali I noticed that the plants were being watered as I was cutting and ferrying the branches back to the table to be trimmed, I asked bro and he said oh yeah........he waters them right through harvest, and that I was welcome to shut the adjustable emitters off when a plant was stripped....but not the ones that he was trying to get to make seeds. There were literally pounds of buds that were being left to seed!

I would give em 1/4 strength grow one more time. that should give them enough green energy to bulk up some more. I would be careful of going to heavy with the grow nutes this late though. You don't want the plant to focus on the green but more on the flower size.

Welcome to my journal dres, :welcome: That is the old school indoor book by George, there's a new version that addresses the cannabis specifically. This book was printed when the world wasn't so welcoming to our wonder medicine. I think the pic of bro is so funny!......LOL! This book was presented to me by a master....and one of my most trusted mentors....we will refer to him as sasquatch....and one of my most prized possessions. I take a lot of significance in the work of a few folks.....because everything significant they say lines up with the fundamental factors of plant growth and development. If it doesn't align with that I shut my ears....LOL, I was trained old school and what's good enough for 45 year plus growers will suffice for me...LOL! Again, welcome.....we'll see what we can do with the current run, it's been through a lot and at the end of the grow I will create a timeline that we can look at and maybe draw some conclusions, outline some successes and failures, and see what we can do to improve the final product on future work. This is a learning environment and if we do nothing else productive....we will learn!
