McLoadie's Third Grow Journal

Good weed, Mc :)

I say sacrifice the buds with the bugs, if you can afford to and make a smoothie-shake with them.

That way the caterpillys can't spread and you get some extra protein with your acid-state-cannabinoids :xmas:

Good weed sir, my recommendation is to whack all 3 infested plants....infestivo......one of the partners who doesn't know a fu-k about anything and can't even discipline themselves enough to pour gallon jugs of solutions onto the f'n ground when I set the jug in front of them doesn't want to whack em. I have a lot of hours on this project........hardly any money.........but it is what it is. I'm not too upset, and I've gained valuable knowledge........I was absolutely unaware that the moths were here. If I ever have any knowledge of threats I will pass the info on to anyone I think will benefit from it, and if these plants are infested....well, there's gotta be a shitload of plants infested in the area. If I didn't help the people who started this project...they would have one plant.....if it hadn't been killed by now!

You are a wise man, Mc.

My greenhouse is home to many insects, Some good, some bad.

I mostly just let them fight it out,

but I always check the leaves with a cursory glance.

Any leaf off colour or webbed up is noticeable.

Tell them to check for tiny droppings and then the leaves above that.

All baby insects shit.

Up until now I have been lucky and just pinching leaves or growing tips and only ever on scrogina.

She is loved by everyone :xmas:

Dilligence is the key.........I pick through and examine my plants multiple times daily....if something sucks I want to know asap....so I can get on with giving em the wrong treatment...LOL....no, my indoor plants are doing so well it scares me that a wreck could be just ahead...LOL. Rico, if these worms get on your plants they aren't going to fight it out....they can decimate your shit quickly...I'm going to attempt some photos to show what the early signs are and what these look like....they KILL the buds!

Welcome back Broke!, thank you for your comments, I'm having some issues now of late, I have cabbage moth larvae on some outdoor plants that are well into flower, and I have an outbreak of fungus gnats indoors....LOL.......it keeps me busy........I hope things are well on your side of the garden!
have you tried the hydrogen peroxide, dishwashing detergent, & h20 mixture for the gnats? it works well for me.

how & when did you notice the moth infestation?

The worms don't "get on your plants", Mc :)

The grow out of eggs.

Get the eggs or the worms as they hatch and they can't spread.

Daily vigilance :xmas:

Yeah, I can't be on site every day....these plants are ate the heck up by grasshoppers and every other thing........but still....these are the only pests that I have seen that eat buds....I don't care if bugs eat the leaves...these plants have plenty of those. What I will do in the future is to make sure I start spraying the first week of august....and it rains here all the time in the summer....so that means applications after every rain. I couldn't get the partners to pend 20 bucks on veg nutrients.........that would have resulted in stronger plants....and considerable yield....you know......the kind of people who would hold on to a twenty when it would give them thousands in return. Whatever, I have bud in my jars, and I'm gonna hammer another one here in around 2 months. In a larger grow......with multiple partners.......you have to have a leader, and the partners have to agree that they're gonna follow his last word....right or wrong.....it's gotta be that way. I'm the mother-cker who is spendin the dough on the nutes.....tyin up and repairing the plants....and devoting YEARS to learn what the f-ck happens with the cannabis, the only thing I don't do is water....and I've found the plants wilted on so many occasions it aint even funny! The fuk who is watering is usually the one spending the most time closest to the plants. I have been involved with ornamental projects that were monitored 24 hrs a day at critical times.....you can have shit happen that can destroy a crop in a matter of two hours............you need to have everything on hand to treat any possible scenario that could arise...unless you can afford failure.

how & when did you notice the moth infestation?

I noticed it yesterday...I think they hit em probly last Monday....laid the eggs. I saw brown dying buds.......I knew it was worms immediately....and I was plenty surprised....never seen em here.......and plants grew there last year and I'm not aware of any infestations. You can see their poop too!

have you tried the hydrogen peroxide, dishwashing detergent, & h20 mixture for the gnats? it works well for me.

I have a few things I can use, this time I'll use a sns soil drench and systemic repellant........I topdressed with new soil and that's where they came from....every soil I ever used has had fungus gnats in it....and the soil I use is NOT cheap!

how do you recognize them? Do they lay eggs on top of the soil, in the soil or on the buds? The last thing i need is something eating away at my buds.

This is such a classic case that I'm gonna try to document it today....I'll get a lot of pics. They come from a moth...a cabbage moth, they fly in at the appropriate time, lay eggs on the buds....they hatch.......crawl into the bud and eat a hole in the small bud stems....then the bud above them dies.....they leave crap where they are and have been......that's how I found em...dead buds and crap.......

They lay the eggs upside down, but the shit falls on top of a leaf below.

I blame gravity.

Your fingers and the power of squish are the best weapon against any little bug thing that might lay eggs.

YOU MEAN ALL I HAVE TO DO IS WATER TO BE PARTNER? IM PUTTING IN MY APPLICATION NOT NOW BUT RIGHT F#@\ING NOW!:surf:

These moths laid eggs on my tobacco plants , as soon as the green worm/catepilar eat through the skin of the bacca they died. They pooped all over my bacca! First time I saw them I would pluck them off and makem swim in my reservoir but they can't swim so.....

Rico, these plants are covered with every sort of bug......it's outside in the boonies......trees, river, bushes, coyotes, lions, raccoons....in a grow like this you grow strong plants......strong plants resist disease and insects. The only remedy I can think of is to spray....like a week or two ago...and then every time after it rains........you're not gonna do it with a spray bottle.....I need around a hundred gallons of spray in a commercial spray rig...................I have a coupla plants that are well over 12 feet tall, I need a three legged ladder to get the tops. I might add that I think these plants were attacked instead of the others is that these a indica domes.......and with the size of the buds it gives these worms a place to crawl inside and do what they do. I have another plant...unaffected...and if they get to that one I promise I will almost cry...LOL, I've been waitng to show pics of it, it has more weed on it than my combined harvests......you can smell the patch at 50 yards now.

i can climb a ladder. I've done that before

YOU MEAN ALL I HAVE TO DO IS WATER TO BE PARTNER? IM PUTTING IN MY APPLICATION NOT NOW BUT RIGHT F#@\ING NOW!:surf:

While watering is considered an entry level position (upper entry level), it is the most important position...IMHO. If you do your job brokey.......hell yes you're a partner....and you get a full share. You are my eyes and ears, you will spend more time on the ground than any one involved, you will know the plants more, you will notice very detail, and give accurate reports on conditions present in the patch. You are the first line of defense, you're watching the area while you're there......you usually LIVE there.......looking for pirates and other unwelcome visitors..............

Reg could do that :xmas:

i can climb a ladder. I've done that before

I'm just waitn brokey....when they wake up we'll talk about it and see if they wanna cough up some dough and I'll put together a plan and get after it. I'm thinking that I have to spray the whole thing anyway.....I may just pick over the worst first....then spray and see if we can salvage anything on those 3.
