Mcloadie's Second Grow Journal

Just the fish I was lookin ta talk to. I have a question, it's not a dumb question, cuz there's no wrong answer; Where do y'all top your plants at, if ya even do, or when ya do, I'm just debatin, I've always topped after the third set of leaves ( true leaves). If anyone can talk me into somethin else I'll try it....LOL

Here, there and everywhere!

I topped mine after the 4th set of leaves. And I got 3 top branches off of one node. I then took the little branches at the bottom and tied them down. So now I have about 8-10 tops. Side tops being smaller than the top tops lol. Hope this helps!!!!

You lookin at my feet budbud?, at least I wasn't naked....I tend things mostly in my pajamas.......you can see it works...lol

Hahaha I do a lot of tending to my garden naked lol. It just happens to be i always do gardening after my shower lol. At least I'm clean!! ;)

Seriously, I topped after the third true set of leaves. Then a top or FIM after the second set of leaves, then as I thought necessary once or twice more on faster growing branches.

Recently, a new technique, called mainlining, has been brought to our attention here at 420mag. Check it out here on Xlr8's current journal.

I'm too scared to take that much off her lol. I have messed up and killed to many plants. It's good to hear you can top then top some more. Thanks for the info kushmeister!!!

You're :welcome:. Check out the photos in my journal, especially the side ones after the defol. If you want a short, bushy plant, topping a lot is a good way to go.

Thanks for your info bros, I wish I had a cut off that plant that put 3 branches out from a node, I would work that sucker into my breeding program. What I am eluding to in my reference to topping is this; My light has a super productive range from the tops, 12" down. Now I'm not selling lights, everyone knows what lights I use. My goal is to create a formula, between light height and plant height that concentrates the light energy to the maximum number of flower sites most efficiently. In other words; to keep my shit in the "zone" and quit wasting my energy, and plant energy on non productive processes. Once I get this right, the findings can be adapted strain specifically.

Thanks fishy, on that note I'll go to the fourth and try it, it's not a hard rule, but If I never try I'll never know. I could put a screen in relatively easy. Some of the nutes I use are like granular I guess you'd call it, I'm gonna run 3 rows of four plants, and I'm just afraid I won't be able to reach that far back to the furthest ones. These granules are worked in to the top of the soil.

thanx buddy, the picture is a little hard to see but if you get the top of the pots to 24" then you can sit in a chair to manipulate the plant through the screen. most tables or desks are at 30" so that to me is a comfy height :) sorry Mr.Pacoso

for the most part, underneath the screen is a once in awhile gig because after she grows through the top yo take all the growth below OFF lollipop style so there is nothing much to do below

I can fashion a fork to the end of a stick and work the pots like that. OK Fishy, I'll see if I can run down a screen. How big of openings? The plants to be scrogged are only 1 inch tall, so I have a little time.

2"x2" would be just right
