Beautiful stuff McBudz! Much respect.

Thank you!!

this is one of the best thread i've seen!:D
definetly +rep!

I'm glad you enjoyed it cigo, thanks

:goodjob::thedoubletake: Sweat harvest....that is some serious bud! :yummy:

I'll post the dried weight up here later today thanks

Awesome bud bro. Thats a gret sight to see all them colas drying. Mad props. BTW i like your drying rack setup.

thanks bud. the rack works nice. ots of bud in a tight area. I'dlike to add some small pc fans on the rack to push a little air through.

Hello Mr McBudz, long time no see!! Wow man the garden is looking nice as ever, Just harvested some more "footballs" I see, well done brother.

Fly man its great to see you, how have things been? Thanks for stopping in.

so you had 4 pots on either 4x4 side or 8? just curious cause even in bloom either side would be a different stages and youd need 2 res's correct?

Right now I use 2 sperate ebb and grows, 1 for each side to properly manage the stages. Last run was 8 pots per side I am upgrading the right side which just finished to as many pots as I can fit up to 12 then doing the same for the other side as soon as it finishes up.

you can comfortably fit 12 in a 4x4 area? jw wondering cause i will have a similar setup here soon. how many & what size light(s) do you have in there?

I'm currently playing with veg time vs number of pots per 4x4 to acheive maximum uniform yield. with 8 pots 2.5 week veg time I pulled 17+ oz. I'm going to shorten veg to 2 weeks and go with 12 pots and see what happens. If I end up over crowded this time I'll back off the veg time a few more days and see. If still over crowded I'll pull back to 10 pots.

I have 3 x 600 watt lights 1 for each side plus one in the middle. I am going to try to just run with 2 x 600's this time to lighten the load on the elec bill. 3 lights may just be a winter thing since I dont need to run the AC.

:goodjob: Still checkin' out the beautiful show! YUMMY!!! :yummy:

Have a couple odor control questions for ya McBudz - hope it is ok to put them here (if not, let me know!)

1) I see you have a jug of ONA gel in yer drying area... Does ONA work fairly well to help keep the odor down in the drying area? This was a super stinky time when I dried my herbs (hung upside down in bunches). Wasn't bad to have mints, thyme, lavendar and those kinds of aromatic herbs scenting up the house, but sure don't want THIS herb's odor to be a problem!

2) Approximately when do the plants start giving off an odor? Yes, I know it most likely depends on the strain, etc (I have some real stinky strains)... but just in general. Like, 2 to 3 weeks into flowering? Or, does it happen in the veg cycle? And is it as bad during growing as it is during the drying process - or is drying even worse? (was worst when drying my potpourri herbs)

In response to your odor control comments in my grow journal... yes, I have been working on and thinking hard about odor control. In my journal I made a note on this subject and a brief description of a DIY odor control system I was going to try.

And thank you so much for the helpful input!!! Sure do appreciate it!

High Granny, I hope you or Budz don't mind if I try to help you. Look at post 116 in this thread which shows the carbon can in his tent. Ona helps, but carbon is first line of defense. I believe your garden will smell wonderful, but that you won't want to share the bounty. You will need at least one big fine carbon filter/fan set. I've found that the smell begins while vegging and steadily increases throughout. If you can blow it all out the roof with no noses downwind on your farm, you might be allright but a kid will want to find the 'skunk' he smells.;)

hey Granny420..

The ONA gel works well at neutralizing the odor but not 100% like air passed through a carbon filter. If you can see in the picture you'll notice the 1 gallon tub of ONA gel is left open and right above it is a fan that I use to exhaust hot air out of the room into the up stairs of my house. The ona does help but you still catch a whiff here and there.

Yes depending on strain and such plants will be aromatic in diffeent ways and at different times. What I'm used to is about 2-3 weeks into veg I get the very fresh green skunky smell that comes and goes then once the buds start to fill it changes to a dank smell.

The first few days of drying is very stinky. For me its worse since I leave them out in the open rather than a sealed tent where the exhausted air is scrubbed and the smell just gets everywhere. I've thought of running a seperate carbon scrubber just for drying. Or looking into a drying tent with built on scrubber.

12 clones went to flower today..

DSCN00602.JPG

day 23 for these 6.. Once they are done going with 12 pots in that side same as right side.. They still show the battle wounds from some root issues they fought for the last 2-3 weeks. Lost 2 of the plants early on in flower. I beleive I have the reason it started in the first place sorted out. There is a shallow puddle that stays in the veg tray and the roots grow out of the pots and sit in it and pythium started in. So I threw some grates in the tray to keep the pots up out of the water and throw an airstone in the res. This transplant looked 100% better, roots were bright white and healthy.
Added hygrozyme for the sick plants and they all seem to be doing better.

Just found out that a 4inch duct booster fan seats perfectly in the top of the ona gel 1 gallon tub. So I emptied a little out into a seperate container to create some airspace, drilled 3/8 inch holes around the neck and sat the duct booster in to pull air through the holes and out the top. Smells great..

It looks like that is going to be realy hard on your fan creating sooo much more work fo it I just leave mine where there is good air flow or where i smell it the best . is putting near or in front of the ac intake of your home would do the same thing hpe this helps

Thank you McBudz and PG! Of course, more questions now I guess!...

I did go review your carbon scrubber as PG suggested and I also see the new changes you made to the ONA gal jug - cool!

Another question...
Are carbon scrubbers all vented to outside of the room??? I guess I don't understand that if they clean the air, why are they vented to outside? Doesn't that take the clean air out instead of putting it back into the room? Remember - just an ol' gal here that is NOT generally mechanically inclined, but I am NOT an idiot either! :-) If I need to vent - okay, I will! I'm just makin' sure I partially *think* I know what I'm doing! lol

And PG, you mentioned blowing it outside and neighbors. We are 1/8 mile from the nearest neighbor (past our grove of trees and across a highway), so I don't think sending the smell out the 2nd story roof vent or out the window upstairs would cause any smell anyone would notice... guess I am lucky in that sense.

But INSIDE the house is where my concern is and I do want to make sure I have this potential problem thought out and covered BEFORE it becomes a problem. Thank you gentlemen for all your help!
